This game is really terrible anddissapointing. First of all, everyone you see who has given it 4 or 5stars is a Star Wars zealot who is unwilling to admit that the master could create trash like this. The graphics don't compare with any halfway decent game out there, the Storm Troopers casually walk and shoot like they're on a parade ground, Banthas tip over like they're boxes, the control set-up was made by a sadist, and the cut scenes seem as if they were written by children. I stopped playing this game on the first day I bought it, and started playing Risk II, a more mundane, but more enjoyable experience.

I got this game thinking that a may be boring or dumb. But the first time I played it those thoughts vanished out of my mind. The game is great and the graphics are spectacular. I played it networked with all my friends and the first thing that came out of their mouth was "I'm getting this game as soon as i can." The only drawback is the interface. I don't know why all the other reviewers had trouble with the camera because it seemed easy to me.

I remember when Force Commander was the hottest thing out...I would spend hours looking at the Force Commander Official Web Page weeks before it went gold. Then, a week afterwards, I bought it. At first I was impressed; very impressed as a matter of fact. The gameplay was new and exciting. The only trouble was that after a while it got...boring. I no longer have any will whatsoever to play it. It just became too - repetitive! All Force Commander really is is a Command and Conquer clone with a bad 3D engine, a bad interface, and a bad point system. No, it's even worse - it's a bad Command and Conquer wannabe. Let's face it, the evidence is abound - the bad music that tries to imitate the "hard rock" style of Command and Conquer, the "tank rush" tactics - it's simply a very, very bad Command and Conquer wannabe, and a true disgrace to Star Wars. And mind you, I'm as die-hard of a Star Wars Empire fan as you can get. Oh, sure, it's supposedly a pro-Empire game. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the Empire gets to have top billing in the most dispicable RTS game yet concieved. A much better game, and perhaps the best ground-based RTS game ever, is Ground Control. Just seeing those units rolling through desert wastes brings back images from Desert Storm; it's just about as realistic as you can get, even down to the fact that most real-life commanders simply cannot build new units right on the battlefeild so that they can "tank rush" the enemy. Force Commander does a very bad job disguising that by having equipment brought down from orbit, but yet it cannot recognize that evn Star Destroyers have their limits.
The moral of this story: Forget Force Commander, buy Ground Control!
ALL Bark, ZERO bite.

This game is the typical "grab headlines and not deliver" that I'm coming to expect from Lucasarts. This is an RTS 2 years behind in Technology. I've never understood how the Empire couldn't have a battlefield mapped, yet the "ZERO FIELD OF VISION" persists in this game. The controls are twitchy, and the graphics are can't even compete with lower class RTS games like Metal Fatigue. I bought the game b/c I'm a fan, but I'd rather spend my time reading the novels than play this poorly done amateurish shrink wrapped goop.

From the moment I purchased this games at my local comic book/video game store, I was in love. Just looking at the pictures on the box gave me joy, but when I actually played the game it was perfect. It contains great graphics, gameplay and all of your favorite SW characters. SW fans will enjoy the landscapes from the SW universe and the ability to control Darth Vader. RTS fans will love the control and chalange the game presents. I thought that I would be a biased reviewer considering that I spend a good portion of my time clean my COMPLETE SW action figure collection, but I think even if I hated SW wold love this game.
Frustrating Camera Views

Definitely dissapointed in this game. First, you must have a pretty powerful PC to run this game smoothly. I have a 600 mhz PIII and 32 megabyte 4X AGP card and it still pauses from time to time. More importantly, the game play is extremely frustrating because of the 3D engine. Zoom in and you can't tell what's happening around you. Zoom out and you can't distinguish your units from each other. You'll press the keyboard about ten times to get the camera into the view you want. Basically, it's very hard to find the right camera angle. Also frustrating is the fact that the control screen takes up the entire bottom third of the screen. On the positive side, it's a Star Wars game, the 3D environment looks cool, and it's somewhat fun. I would recommend trying out a demo first, if one exists.
This Game is Really Bad!

I bought this game based on a promotional e-mail from Amazon.com I received because I pre-ordered the Episode I movie........... I was a sucker and bought it. I HATE IT! It is hard to play and no fun at all. If you haven't bought it yet, don't!

Star Wars: Force Commander has to be the most poorly designed gaming interface ever designed. Granted, the programmers must have spent a lot of time on it, and I commend them for their efforts, but it just doesn't work. The control isn't precise and rapid enough. The video clips give a nostalgic atmosphere to the game...they seem as if they are high-tech - if the game was released back in 1996 or 1997, not 2000. Force Commander just doesn't make the cut, and the interface is what really threw me off here.

This game could have been so good. But like all new stars wars product. it sucks. Not only is it completely diverged from to Command and conquer style RTS. It just really sucks. I think they should have added Jar-Jar to make it better. Either that, of those funny aliens on the command carriers. This game has, "Gone up the ventilation shaft!"
Very Disappointed

Maybe I'm not one to talk, but this game was so terrible that I almost cried. First of all, the graphics are not at all great. Then the controls are messed up. Next there's the realism factor. Ground troops can destroy AT-AT's without much trouble, and that makes no sense. I have a list of other problems, but due to the number of curses on it, they probably wouldn't let me put it on the net. So in conclusion, Lucasarts can do a much better job.
