LucasArts really blew it

This one goes over like a Wookie coughing up a fur ball. Glitzy cutscenes do little to mask the extremely poor interface and design of this megaflop. Do not buy it now. It will be in the bargain bins in a few weeks.

Something to talk about

I would first have to say that you have to hvae a good PC and a good 3d card if you want this game to work properly, The graphics are good much better than in any stradegy game i've seen the music/sound is good (u know the old SW music) i found it a bit hard to use the view buttons at first but know it's easy, this game is fairly easy( when ) you have played the training missions so what i'm trying to say is that: YOU WILL LOVE IT WHEN YOU LEARN TO CONTROL THE CAMERA VIEW anything else will come it's a great game everything about it is fantastic buy it because it's the greates stradegy game ever.

Why all the fuss?

Alright. If your getting this game thinking that its going to be just like Starcraft with Star Wras units, then your going to be somewhat dissappointed. I had just purchased the game and read all these reviews dumping on it so, needless to say, I was pretty worried when I popped the cd into my system. But all in all, its not THAT bad. I mean, its pretty cool. Graphics are killer, control is decent. Controlling the camera angel can be a pain, but you get used to it after awhile. The only real complaints I have it 1) Its kinda slow. Not any of the fast, action paced battles I can get from Starcraft. 2) No real strategy needed. I mean, of course you need SOME basic strategy, but nothing that really takes any brain power. Its pretty much just " Grab your forces and go " kinda game. But all in all, its a decent game. But I would advise waiting till the price goes down before buying.

Confusing but Great

Star Wars Force Commander is a great game and all. At first you think oh this game has great graphics with the 3D Acclerator. Afterwards the play control may seem hard but after a while it's not so hard. The plot is for any Star Wars fan who like Starcraft and Command and Conquer.

Excellent story, pretty good gameplay

This is a good game for people who like Star Wars and also like good stories. If you want just a hard-core game with excellent graphics, you can get some of that here, but that's not the best part of this game. Also, Force Commander is unusual in strategy games in that you have to destroy enemy units to get "command points" which you can use to call down units from orbit in transports. Overall, a pretty good game that I've played quite a bit.

Best game in a long time

I love Star Wars:Force Commander! This is the first real real-time strategy game LA has put out (Rebellion was good for it's day but it was lacking in action). If you are a serious gamer and has a computer to match your gaming needs this is definately the game for you. I have played it on a low-end system and still enjoyed it. Imeron's Intensor 350 LX users can hook up to the game for some real neat sound. The command point system is so much better than other games where more than a half of level and skirmish time is dedicated to gathering ore; collecting energy, refining metal; gathering gold, stones, wood and food. The only limit to this game is the sad fact that only 4 people at a time can play. This game is well worth the two year wait some of us gamers have been enduring! Buy and Try this game ASAP!

Better wait for Earth 2150 !

Hi,

I bought Force Commander and I must commit that I am quite dissapointed. Although I am real SW-Fan, the game engine is totally out of date. I would suggest for every one looking for 3D rts games to download the demo of earth2150. This seems to be an awesome game. Three parties instead of two. cycling day/night cycles/teather-effects/terrain-effects/own unit construction. And the controls are much easier to learn then in FC.

Not good?

I've been reading some of the reviews on here and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I bought this game not too long ago and I would say that it is a must buy for any star wars fan who likes "Command & Conquer" style games. The camera view is kind of hard to figure out at first, but you do get used to it. Sound effects are awesome, and the graphics are really good. Just give it time and learn how to play it.

This is one of the poorer Lucasarts game

I love Lucasarts. They do great work. This game is not that good, though. It's graphics are too blocky and gameplay is slow. Another problem is the sideways viewpoint which distorts everything. The blue boxes around the units are also very annoying, especially around the small units such as stormtroopers because you can't make out the units. The environments look bland and uninteresting too. I was looking forward to Force Commander because I like RTS games and the last Lucasarts RTS, Rebellion, was a joke, but now I realize Force Commander is just another game that could have been great but the devolopers just didn't refine it enough. Anyway, I recommend you save your money and get something else.

Takes some practice, but worth it.

The interface takes some getting used to, but once you get the camera controls down (and really it's no different than learning what all the buttons do on an FPS game), it really is quite enjoyable. It makes you think tactically and strategically, which I like. There's no rushing for the end to gain a quick victory, you have to plan your way and learn to use your units' strengths.
