It was ok in some parts, others better, but some bad

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 3 / 4

The game was ok, but in some parts it was to challengeing and others just to easy. When you are a jedi there should be more things to do besides swing a light saber. The force rarely does any good. The force push only knocks down little enemies and the mind trick dosent even work a lot of the time. There are to many unimportant parts that make no diffrance in the game. It needs to stay closer to the movie.

good game, but with some bugs

This is a great game and its fun too, but the bugs get annoying. but first the good things. The graphics are fairly good, the gameplay is good, the levels ar good, the weapons are good, and i like all the Characters you are in the diffirent levels, and it challenges you. Now the bad stuff. the camera views get messed up some times, some times the the characters repeat what they just said, some times it locks up when you try to save a game, some times the sound gets messed up (and its not my sound card), and some times the characters start saying things when a. they all ready said it b. your not even close to them. But overall this is a good game, and i recommend it to any one who likes star wars or adventure/Action games.

Fun Adventure Game with a few frusturating points.

It's like any other adventure game with great action and those certain points were you will be stuck for a while. The 3rd person perspective makes it hard to judge distances, but besides that it is a solid game. It greatly expands on the movie and the graphics are absolutly stunning and very crisp. Certain points are changed for game purposes, and Qui-Gon sounds a little like Sean Connery at times. Star Wars fans by it, Adventure gamers by it, anyone else check it out!

Thoroughly entertaining

It's been awhile, but I recall first playing this game with my brother and us declaring it the most enjoyable LucasArts venture yet. Yes it has its flaws, especially now in 2004 when videogame graphics have since made stunning advancements. But this 1999 game is simply classic - the "choose-your-own-response" dialogue, deceptively tricky puzzles, lightsaber and shoot-'em-up action - I'm sure any Star Wars fan who missed it the first time around would have a ball picking it up now, especially with the marked-down price.

It's cool

I'm not really much into top of the line graphics and all that stuff. I play a game if it sounds fun. So yeah the graphics aren't the best but the games alot of fun. Several people were complaining about Tatooine levels. If you play it the way you're supposed to then yeah its sorta boring. I don't play it the way I'm supposed to when I've finished the game once. Try attacking some random people or walking throu the dung. Make it interesting do it your way, if you want to run through the streets of Tatooine and killing every person in sight and being chased by all the guards, swinging their vibroaxes at you and yelling "You're a no good killer," and stuff like at you than do so. I've always liked padme in the movies so playing her is pretty fun, yeah when you first get her she has an extremely wimpy stun blaster, but if you look behind you or go into nearby buildings, there are grenades, blasters, and proton torpedo launchers. The level on Coruscant is my least favorite in the entire game, just because running around in the depthes of Coruscaht trying to find Queen Amidala gets annoying. The only other level I don't like is the 4th level, which takes Obi-Wan trying to get Queen Amidala out of Theed, while having to get her past AAT's and bunches of droids, and if you leave her alone too long they'll say "The Queen has been killed," when she alives you get sayings such as "YOu're stepping on my dress," and "I never knew Jedi could be so rude," from her. Overall it's a really fun game just play it your way, explore, do what you please on it, (within what the game allows of course)

Better than the Jedi Knight!

Using the strategy guide helps, but it isn't always right. I have beat it twice. In Mos Espa, try not to kill anyone but the beast, and a few others, if you kill one wrong person, everyone attacks you and Anakin may decide not to help you. remember "There are alternatives to fighting" sometimes you should just run. When guiding the queen don't go to far ahead or she will be killed. The final level, with the queen, after you destroy the enemies in the hall near the throne room destroy the statues, there is a health pack. Coruscant is fun, as it has to do with the queen being kidnapped and you must rescue her. Don't take out the battle droids, under the archway while escorting the queen, just move quickly and dodge them. You can't destroy the tanks. Qui-Gon is the person you travel with who provides the most help, Panaka takes out droids but is not as much help. Maul is fun to fight, when i survive, and the graphics during scene transitions are better than the rest. At the end you receive a rating and info on how well you beat each level, the higher the better, my highest is a 9 the lowest a 4.

OK Game

This game is ok. When I first played it I thought it was excellent, but after I borrowed it from a friend I realized how lame some parts of the game were. Playing as the queen is just bad, VERY bad. Panaka is ok, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are pretty cool because they have sabers. But the queen? Maybe someone else like Padme or even Jar Jar. The fact that the Jedi could deflect lasers blasts was great. This feature could have been awesome if Lucasarts hadn't of made it so difficult to deflect laser blasts. Another problem are the stupid droids. The battle droids sometime don't attack you when you are 3 feet away from them. Realism is another factor. In the movie, we didn't see R2-D2 until the queen left theed. In the game we see him opening doors for us on the Trade Federation Ship. Even though this game has some really messed up parts in it. There are still some good parts in it. Sound is excellent. THe duel with DM is good too. All in all, The Phantom Menace is a pretty good game if your a star wars maniac, but if your are a simple star wars fan like me it's really nothing special. Jedi Knight is better anyway.

My review to an ACE game

Hi. This, in my mind is an exellent game. It follows the plot to the film, but isn't hard to follow if you haven't seen the film. You play one of four characters- Obi-One Kanobi, Qui-Gon Gin, the Queen, and Captain Panaka. You can aquire a number of weapons, and items. I, personaly, don't mind the overhead view, but many people think it's one of the few flaws of the game (although the view can changed to a behind view, via a cheat). It's only flaw, in my opinian, is if your view is obstruced by large objects. Overall, it's a exellent game, alround!

Good

The graphics are pretty good and the scenery is supurb. Its like looking at a piece of art. the AI lacks a bit but what it lacks in AI it makes up for in shere beauty. The game also does well to follow the film, although for people who have seen the film. Don't dismay, there are planty of side quests to surprise you. All in all, well done LucasArts, a good piece of work, many games on films do lack somewhat in what they can be but you've managed to pull through.
