well aside from the well "good tries" in the past to make an excellent top gun id have to say that with the incorporation of the ps2 technology and a remaking they will hopefully blow the flight experience to the max...i cant wait for it to come out..what would be intense is if they created a flight system for flying sims with a joystick, throttle, and possibly rudders...who knows, maybe they will

I put this reveiw in for balance. Like the other reviewers, I have not seen this game. Therefore, I would give it no stars (if I could) and don't recommend it, yet. If it is good, I will recommend it. I just hate to see these 5 star reviews from people who haven't seen the game. It is one thing for the experts to give GT3 a top review based on demos and preliminary releases. It is quite another for reviews to be solely based on wishful thinking. Give me a break. Don't submit reviews based on guesswork alone.
ABSOLUTELY THE GREATEST GAME EVER

Top Gun is the greatest video game ever. I played a version of it when it was only 6% finished and it was tremendously fun. The graphics were fantastic, not quite as good as the NES version but thousands of times better than anything ever seen on the Atari 2600. So you know the PS2 version will just rock!... And while the gameplay wasn't quite finished, in fact the only controls up and running at the time were the select game option, I couldn't believe how addictive it was when selecting whether I wanted to choose the ACE difficulty setting, NORMAL difficulty, or TRAINING mode.... To all of you eagerly anticipating this game, I know for a fact it is worth the wait, because if the game is only nearly half as good as the load up screens, we are all in for a treat. So keep those five star reviews coming, this game deserves them.

I remeber playing the original "Top Gun" game on my old NES and it was simply Gody! The game was great! As a fan of the movie and the old NES game This should be good. But like the other person said I cant give it 5 stars till I actually play the game!

I played this game at E3 and it was horrible. It was the only game in its area of the show without a line of people waiting to play it. Unless it's revamped by Titus before its release date, I would recommend staying away from this thing. It needs major, major work. It's kind of a bummer because I'm a big Top Gun fan and thought this would be a great game on PS2.

Why don't you all stop writing "reviews" until you've actually played the game. Some of you talk about how you can't give 5 stars b/c you haven't played it yet...Why even bother giving your measly one star that only brings the ratings down for it? The ones that say they're "balancing" things out b/c people give 5 stars for a game they haven't played are just as bad b/c they're giving 1 star for a game they haven't played either. Some people don't realize how stupid they make themselves sound. I'll give this 3 stars b/c it's right in the middle, and no I haven't seen the game yet.

I've sen this game at last E3. It already looked extremely impressive. Based on the previews I have seen so far, it 's a much better game than Ace Combat 4... I can't wait to fly this game !!!!!!!!

Even if its release date slips this game is pretty much finished now, and the new demos doing the rounds at shows and events really show the potential that this game has. Most everyone mentions the visuals in this game, so I'll talk about something else... Its great to see designers return to a good old-fashioned arcade blast!! This game is about scoring points, pure and simple. Score the points, get the golds, receive the unlocks = Sweet. Your score racks up as you play, just like on an old arcade machine, and points values zip all over the screen as you wreak havoc, all adding to the action.
It goes deeper than this though, or so it seems. Watching the gameplay, you start to see intricacies in the scoring system that hardcore gamers are crying out for: there are chances for score bonuses littered everywhere, hidden ones as well as the obvious damage, accuracy and time bonuses you get at the end of a successful mission. For example, it looks like multipliers are attached to each weapon, so you gain more for using the harder unguided weapons and your main gun, also bonuses mount up for 'skill shots' (which look to be long-distance kills), and for 'snap shots' and 'fluke shots', whatever they are! Like other games, you can also boost your scores by skimming close to the terrain as you play through the mission, and what terrain! You can really throw your plane around and through the gaps in the masses of buildings, pipework, canyons and rock outcrops that show up in the demo levels.
Hopefully (if they get it right!) this kind of gameplay will let you play missions in the style you want to, either fast and dirty Maverick style to timetrial yourself, or tight and clinical Iceman style for high accuracy.
Some things still look rough around the edges in this game, I guess thats whats still being worked on, but I'm looking forward to this one!!
