Nice game... but connection to the movie is lost

This is a nice game. I am not a highly skilled gamer (I am 33 yrs old), so I cannot get technical about the details. The number one complain is that,despite the title TOP GUN, the game has no connection to the movie. I purchased it in part for the movie theme.
I played the entire game. The graphics are very good. The controls are also okay. I have just purchased Ace Combat 4 ( and never played it before), so I cannot compare them yet.
The game was fun. I really liked it. If you are looking for a nice flight simulation game, with some hard action when you keep being pounded by enemy fire, this is the game for you.

hardest thing about this game... taking it back!

I already have ace combat 4. and thought that this would be a nice change of pace. i was right, it was. Now if I were in an old folks home I might enjoy this game better than getting an enema. Heed all the negative reviews! or just send me 50 bones and I'll gladly send you my copy. (only used once!)

I thought ace combat 4 was better. I think top gun would have been better if it was more geared toward the movie. Also if they added carrier landings and take offs i think it would have been better. Graphics overall were good.

This game is pretty bad. You do not feel like you are flying or in control of the plane. The controls are very sluggish. Ace Combat 4 is a much better aerial combat game.

BORING! Lacks realism. Underwhelming graphics!

A little bias here, as I'm a former pilot. The training missions are guaranteed to leave you droopy-eyed and frustrated. Controls and flight parameters aren't very realistic, especially for Tomcat and Harrier. I was also underwhelmed by the overall graphics; the canyon runs can't hold a candle to canyon runs in Star Wars: Starfighter As an example, terrain features "pop-up" too obviously, making it hard to keep flight situational awareness and really get into the "experience."

This game DEFINITELY does not deliver the "MACH-3 with your hair on fire" experience I expected. Do yourself a favor and rent before dropping full retaill on this slug.

Yeah i just played this game and trust me it rules. I played it at some electronics expo in philly. The game play rules, but if your looking for a realistic fighter simulator this game isnt for you.

Top Gun was awesome movie but the game isn't. I can't even get past the Tutorual missions! My uncle can't either. This has no pros and all cons. Get AceCombat04 for some real Flight Sim! This is horrible. However, if you JUST HAVE TO HAVE a Top Gun game buy a Gameboy Color and buy TopGun: Firestorm. This game is awesome! The controls are just like a jet fightr. What is so stupid about the Combat Zone game is 2 hits from a tank and BOOM! you explode. You crash into the canyons alot and the worlds are not big at all! Why can't Titus make a good game like Firestorm or AceCombat04: Shattered Skies? If you would like a preety good game for PC buy F-22 Lighting 3.

I am a big fan of the Top Gun movie, but when I played this game I was rather disappointed that the game isn't as good as the movie. The graphics are beautiful (Which is the best thing about the game) and the controls take a while to get used to plus the replay value is low...after you play this game for a couple of hours you get bored after a while. I would definitely recommend Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies for fans of good flight games

Coming from an ex pilot, this game gives a high performance jet the manuverability of a Piper Cherokee. I played this game for about 3 minutes, then I was off to EB to trade it in. It might have been a decent game for the Nintendo entertainment system (yes the 8 bit fossil). Save your dough, get a game that is worth it, 'cause this is possibly the worst I've seen yet.

i woke up one day for work and i was half awake, when i saw a commercial for ace combat 4 but i was so tired i thought since this was flight simulator maybe this was the right one. not seeing ace when i went to the store i bought this game. i had to return it 3 times before i got one that worked alright [that would load up not sure what was wrong] i didnt like it at all at first the heads up display is way off meneauverablilty
(disappoints) and although the game grows on ya and the graphics are alright it starts to get boring real quick and controls are way to tedious without a flight stick and rudders. so i went and returned it for my money back but they said i had to exchange it so frustrated with the whole thing i went to look for something else unhappy because i love flight sumulators and it was way off thats when i saw that they did have ace combat 4. so i got that. And it fully rocks i love it. It really dumps on top gun. its got a plot which top gun doesnt pilots talk to others during combat everything is better get ace if you wanna rock. Top Gun is kinda for the wussies who prefer not to fly in a true sumulator
