Worst EA game in 15 years

I have been an EA customer for two decades (I still have Archon for the C64), and this is the worst effort I have ever seen from this company. It should have been released under a different title, because it is not part of the March Madness franchise. The game play is good, the camera views are barely acceptable, and there is no season or dynasty mode. This would be a good standup arcade game, but I expect more for $$$.... I will never buy an EA game again without seeing and playing it beforehand.
Game play is great, though other things are missing.

Let me start by saying that this game plays great and I, play wise, it surpasses NBA Live by leaps and bounds. This is the first March Maddness game I've played, so I must admit that I have little else to compare it to.The compunter knows when to hold the ball and when to rush it's shot against the clock. My favorite thing is that not only can you fast break without the computer somehow catching you (like in Live), but your computer controlled players actually finish the break with you, which is great (in Live the computer always seemed to stop at the 3-point line). My only problems with this game were 1) and this is huge, lack of a season mode; 2)Less coaching options than Live; 3) quite a few teams missing; 4) I don't know what Dynasty mode is but it sounds good. It would be great if they included some legend teams like the Fab Five, or Hoya Paranoia, or Phi Slama Jama. Now that would be fun.
Utterly dissapointed

I bought this game with great anticipation. I thought it would be very similar to NCAA football which I feel is the most phenomenal game ever made. Instead I find out that there is no season or dynasty mode. All you can do is play the tournament. It is pathetic. the graphics are good but not great. I am sickened. Last time I felt this way was when I rented NBA Live 2001. What is it with EA Sports and basketball games? Have they forgotten how to make them? This game stinks. I will never buy an EA basketball game without renting it first. This is by far the worst effort ever by EA. WHAT A JOKE THIS GAME IS! Save your money please.
Big Disappointment

I bought this game with great anticipation as well. Boy I wish I had reviewed it or rented it first. What a disappointment! Nothing close to EA's College Football game, which was absolutely phenomenal. No season or fantasy modes is a major drawback in my mind. The only good thing that I found was that you can still edit your players and put their real names in. Another year, another awful college basketball game...
EA should be ashamed

While normally EA Sports continually puts out legendary game after game they have, for the firt time in my experience, failed PATHETICALLY. They should be ashamed to compare their other prestigious works with this total flop. While the game play is improved it is pointless when you can't keep one team together for a longer span than six games! I feel that when the dynasty mode was created it was the most important aspect of sports games. EA, who can be credited with this, left it out. Without dynasties it has dissapointed EVERY gamer who buys this joke that they have titled "March Madness 2002". Was this a prank...or was this thought to seriously be your best work at EA Sports? If you do buy this game, don't lose the receipt! I just hope next year they get back on track with the March Madness' that they had on PS1. The only reason this game deserves a positive rating is because it has improved the game play from the previous series...only thanks to PS2's new capabilities though.
P.S.-Whoever decided to leave out the dynasty on this game should be fired!
Not even worth 5 bucks to rent.

This game is a major, major disappointment. I was expecting something like NCAA Football 2002, which gets the college game just right. EA Sports airballed on this one.

IM WARNING ALL EA FANS (LIKE I AM) this game is AWFUL. Do Not buy it. It does not even have a season mode.. You can either play a tournament (which you cant even pick the teams for) or you can play a quick game... My ony question... WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO GET OUT FOR SUCH A ...GAME!!!!!!
Great disappointment

March Maddness 2002 is probably the worst EA Sports game to come out on the PS2. The lack features such as a season mode, real announcers, or the women's teams from the PS1 editions all make this game not worth the purchase prise it. If you are dying to play college ball, rent it. Otherwise, put your money elsewhere.
Awesome!

The graphics are great and the people looks so real. You can create your own team! I made one that has all the things that are about my school for the school info. You can also name the people on your team and make them look how ever you want! I think you should buy this game! All those other people are just winers. Wah, wah, wah. Now go buy this game now! Kids know more about the games they play than adults!

This game .... I should have rented it first. PLease don't buy it. If you are a person who likes graphics and no content whatsoever, this game is all yours. Whatever happened to the dynasty mode that MM2001 had? When you create a school you can't really enter it into the tournament. Another thing: it's really cool to see your guy dunk and break the glass on the backboard, but it is really annoying when you see it 5-6 times a game. THe dunks are great; there are so many of them. Another annoying thing is when you up-fake you usually make your shot. Like I already said the graphics are great. The courts, jerseys, player faces, and their bodies are pretty accurate. Frankly, this game should never have been on the market. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
