The best b-ball game I've played. It will surprise you.

I just purchased this game yesterday and was surprised by how good it is. In my opinion it is a more exciting game to play than NBA Live 2002, even though the controls are basically the same. The game seems to move at a quicker pace than NBA Live and the graphics are fantastic. I do think that EA Sports can ramp up this game in the future, by adding season modes and actual arenas that the teams play in (right now only the courts are accurate.) Also, the announcing could be improved. They should really go after the ESPN announcing team (i.e. Dick Vitale, etc.) like they did on NCAA Football 2002, which in my opinion has the most realistic announcing and best sound of any sports game I've ever played. If you like college basketball, you'll like this game. It definitely blows away 989 Sports Final Four, which may be the worst game ever made.

bad game

EA Committs a Technical Foul

I am a devoted lover of college basketball, and as such a love of college basketball games. This game was a natural purchase for me. Admittedly, I purchased it knowing that there was no season or dynasty mode. I don't think I realized, though, just how much those modes are the make-or-break parts of a good sports game.

I must say that the graphics for the game are well done, and the gameplay is an improvement on the NBA Live 2002 engine. I love the way players dive for the ball and the way that passes aren't automatically caught. These are the games finer points.

The lack of season or dynasty mode just plain brings the game down from a [higher price to a lower price] purchase. There are other annoying aspects of the game. One, EA has failed again to get many of the basketball courts right, especially the Kentucky court, which should be adorned with the gigantic UK symbol that is now in place. Furthermore, the tournament mode is very weak. Instead of being able to set up a whole tournament and play it out, you have to pick one team, and can only play that team's games. The coach's comments are also rather weak, as anyone who has played the game will testify.

In short, wait until next year, when EA will undoubtedly get its act together and put out a solid showing for PS2 in this series.

EA Sports makes a BOO-BOO

In their rush to release this game for PS2 they forgot some VERY IMPORTANT pieces to this game.

1. The team list is missing a large group of teams. I think somewhere around 150 teams.
2. No season mode. This is the most glaring mistake. How can you have a basketball game like this and NOT have a season mode??
3. No dynasty mode. Once again, BIG mistake leaving this out.

The gameplay is fun, but without the above items, this game only goes so far. And that isn't nearly far enough.

Don't get this game.

I cannot believe that EA sports made this piece of junk as part of its otherwise superior sports series. No season mode, no historical teams, and limited replayability.. Buy a previous years' edition instead.

Awesome!!!!

I played this game on a demo disk, and it was amazing. The graphics were awesome, and the gameplay was extremely realistic.

Let's put it to you this way. If you like exhibition games and thats it. This game isn't bad. But if you like any realistic play, that EA is usually known for. Fugghettabboutitt.

In other words, I bought it, opened it, played 1, count 'em 1 game & and put it up for auction on another site.

be very, very careful--no season mode

this game was really cool until i started looking through the game options. for an ea sports game not to have a season or dynasty mode is just beyond me. you can only have fun with this game if you're playing against other people.
there is a cheesy little tournament mode, but that takes all of five minutes to finish. i don't understand how you can wait so long to release a game like this and not have any appealing features on it. it's not like other ea sports games don't have these kind of gameplay modes and stat-tracking capabilities already (i.e. NCAA 2002, a college football game that implements full season and dynasty modes with recruiting options as well, now that's what i expect from an ea sports product)
this game just did not deliver. i would be careful in buying it.

Too Easy

This game is way to easy. I beat Duke with Boston College 158 to 50. The graphics are bad and it is to easy to steel. Also most of the time when you do a alee-opp it misses. The commontaters are very bad to. Try NCAA Final Four 2002 its way better.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grahphics, gameplay, sound, control......all top notch. You would think that would make for an awesome game right? Wrong. Unlike all the other EA sports games, this game has no season, franchise or dynasty modes. No create-a-player feature. The only thing you get is an average create-a-school feature (what good is that without a dyansty mode) and a lousy tournament mode. That is it. What fun is a tournament without taking your team through the season. That's like playing Madden and only getting to use a team in the playoffs. What a bunch of garbage this games turned out to be. It would have instantly been my favorite game if it only had the features of all the other EA sports games. I would not recommend this game to anyone.
