This is the best game I have ever played, I have the beta test and I also have a team, there is a '66 Pontiac GTO and a '69 GTO and a '69 GTO "THE JUDGE" (which is my favorite car) and a whole lot more, if you are interested in getting the game and joining a team, go to www.angelfire.com/mo3/mco-gto-club

Hope to see you in the game, Skyler Shannon

This game was the best game I have ever played. The only downside is the 10$ monthly fee. It's more then worth the money, and the satisfaction of hearing a loud purr of a 402 under the hodd, is what it's all about. GET THIS GAME

Hope you like to own and tune old cars...

To say it up front: I am not too fond of this game. Personally, I'd probably rate it lower than I did, but I am sure there are people that like it and get a lot out of this game, so I gave it an average rating.

The problem with this game is that it's not truely a racing game. Your racing skills are only of limited use. Instead, you buy cars and tune them. And you better know a lot about cars and how to tune them (tip: get the strategy guide...).

The car you have (and how well you tune it), as well as your in-game level will detirmine whether or not you win races. Most of the time, races are not close at all. Higher level players are ahead, while lower level players turn lonely laps (generally two at a time...). And if things do get close (which does happen every now and then), things aren't too much fun either, because the latency (lag) is a real problem. If you race close to another car, it will kind of bounce around in front of you, as the game tries to update the position of the other player. Most of the time, this means you will bump into the other player, rather than racing him/her. Sometimes, the game even loses track of the other player and just seems to estimate where the car should be. Once the position is updated, the other car might end up materializing in your race line, making you run into it.

So basically what ends up happening is that players turn lonely laps, just to get the experience points, which will help them to (painfully slowly) move up to the next level. Points are earned at almost every race, no matter where you place. (In my opinion, winners aren't rewarded enough at all... you win and get 80 points... you come in 3rd and get 72... that doesn't make sense to me. Note that the actual numbers will be slightly different and are calculated for each race...).

At the end of the day, driving skills don't matter (unless you really suck and hit the wall all the time). All that matters is leveling up, earning more money, and getting better cars. The fact that this game is about racing is not the main focus. You could as well kill monsters and use the XP to buy new cars. The player-experience would be about the same.

The graphics engine also isn't too great. The frame rate is way too low. This means that you do not really have the impression that you are in a car. Instead, it feels just like playing a racing game. In 2002/2003, I simply expect more. Electronic Arts has some good racing games with good graphics engines. I am not sure why this seems to be a problem here. Especially when doing single practice runs, there shouldn't be much of a difference (visually) between this game, and - say - F1 2002.

A lot of the tracks are very hard to drive. I am usually doing quite well at racing games, but a lot of the street circuits are very hard. This mainly has to do with the sluggish game play and control over the car. Very often, walls materialize right in front of the car and your steering impulse either comes way too late, or is much too severe. This is a particular problem since many of the street circuits have lots of corners and tunnels, and very often, even walls in the middle of the road that split the two directional driving lanes. While I could negotiate these circuits with a good driving engine such as in F1 2002, it just seems a bit too hard here. Just going straight is a problem...

Maybe it's just me, but other players seem to have similar problems. At least I assume so, because the majority of the players are hanging out at a single oval circuit. Pretty boring if you ask me. But I guess it's better to be bored than frustrated.

Oh, and did I mention all the cars are old? While it is much cooler to tune old cars than new ones, one has the oposite effect when it comes to racing them, since those old cars don't handle too well and are also not particularily fast (especially the ones you start out with). So you'll probably find yourself sitting there, waiting for the end of the straightaway you are on.

But I guess that goes along with my statement above that this is a car-tuning game, rather than a racing game...

A new massive multiplayer game...

Vaaarooom! 4 hours later, Zzzzzz....

That is the best way I can describe this title. It looked and sounded hot! Only one problem. E.A. Forgot to put the multi-player elements in their multi-player game.

One thing is for sure, it has a ton of engine parts! You can swap, trade and buy all kinds of parts to modify your cars performance! This alone may entertain you but everyone already knows the best formulas and setups. Not many car bodies though. Not much action in racing between players going on at all. I am not really sure what to really make of this game. It certainly bored me to death after a few days.

I did play for a few months and E.A. Dropped the ball on patches and updates. I should have spent my [price]on a new title. ([price] month X 3 for subscription fees) A successful Multi-Player game needs fresh new content added constantly. MCO has none of that. A couple new engine parts added and some cheat prevention is all I have really seen... To bad this title really sounded like it could have been a blast if done better.

EA and the customers had a little stand off over the parts auctions which I'm happy to say is getting fixed :)

This game has a lot of cars in it and thousands of parts... If your a racing fan or a motor head You'll love this game :) :)

I was very excited to get this game. As an avid motorhead and collector car nut, this game held much promise. But I was sorely disapointed to find that after my initial $40 layout for the game , I would be forced to pay $9.99 a month to continue using this game. This fact was not made clear, it appears in miniature writing on the back of the box if you read that far. It says nothing in the instruction book about a monthly payment. I am now in a tight spot as to getting my money back without losing anything. Do not buy this game unless you want to pay them $120 a year for the privilege.

well, no point in buying thsi game, i did about 4 months ago, then they decide to stop running it, and give us either the sims online or ultima online or earth and beyond, as if walking around on the sims is near as fun as racing and tuning up your car

Great game but it's OBSOLETE (don't buy it)

This is the coolest racing game i have ever played and the graphics are cool too. DON'T BUY THIS GAME, because you will never be able to use it. People shouldn't even be selling it. It's like selling a brick in a box. Also would like to add... any software that says ONLINE on it won't last forever.
