Amazing

I have been a HUGE Need For Speed fan ever since the original came out. I played the game for hours and became very good. Then MotorCity came out a long time later, and now I feel the same joy as I did the first time I played the original Need For Speed. Whether your into modern fast cars, or muscle cars, hell even if you HATE racing games, you will find this game fun.

Theres something for everybody, but you will have to do some racing of course. I will go over some of the key features and explain them.

Clubs - You can create a club and invite members, once you have a fair ammount of members you can start haveing turf wars!

Auctions - Auction off cars or parts!

Various Car Lots - If I recall correctly there are 4 car lots.

Very active - There are ALWAYS enuff people online to have a good race, trust me I have played all day and nite before :)

Cuztomization - You can customize almost every part on your car, from the fuzzy dice in the window too the nitrous injector under the hood!

RPG Elements - Great leveling system, every 5 levels you advance in rank which increases your weekly salary.

Cheating? - Worryed about cheating? Well, don't. EA Logs every race and gives it a unique ID, so if people cheat it WILL NOT go on for long.

Those are just some of the key elements, now I will go over the gameplay.

Sound - For the first 2 weeks the radio is great, lots of stations and songs, but they will get old, however the speech is updated at least every three days.
Electronic Arts claims they update the music but I have not noticed yet.

Graphics - Simply put, there not amazing. They are good enuff for massive multiplayer game though.

Controls - You can use lots of different controls, keyboard, mouse, joysticks, and best of all, racing wheels. If your not using a racing wheel, your missing out, this game is definetly intended for a wheel.

Gameplay - Fantastic. There is always something new, that you have not yet experienced, whether it be winning a time trials competition, or becoming a new top dog!

Overall - Great game.
You may not want to buy this game because of the monthly fee, but let me assure you, this game is worth EVERY PENNY!

MY 12 year old son wanted this game, he spent 2 months allowance (40.00) to buy it only to find out that it would cost him another 9.99 a month to play.Since we already opened the box we couldn't take it back so now he's stuck with a 40 game he can only use for 30 days( the free trial) No where in the instructions does it say it costs actually it says set up your free account. I finally found in very small print on the back of the box that there is a SMALL monthly fee, to a kid 9.99 is not a small fee. That's fine is they charge but they should make that perfectly clear like in big letters on the front of the box. I was really disappointed because he did really like the game. I wrote to EA game hoping that maybe they would reinburse his money but I'm not holding my breath. So unless you're willing to pay the fee don't buy it.

The racing game of all racing games

Title says it all, I have been on racing for 2 months now and still want to play as much as possible, very addicting. You build cars, race them on Circuit Tracks, Street Tracks or Drag Strips against others online. You can join car clubs, and chat with others about car setup's or track tactics. The game has a great online community with a good money system, the more you race the more money you make, the more money you make the better cars/parts you purchase... I recommend this game to all ages, and if your a classic/muscle car buff, you'll think they designed it just for you.

Best Racing Game I've EVER Had!

This is the greatest racing game. I don't know how I could go back to a game offline, now that I race and chat with real people every day.

There is a monthly fee ..., but IT'S WORTH IT!

It works great with my HP Pavilion 1.6GHz Windows XP. I didn't have much trouble installing it. It was a little confusing at first, but that's because I am new to the Windows OS. I've had a Mac for years.

I'm sure that anyone who is familiar with the Windows system, will have no trouble installing the software.

Anyhow, BUY THIS GAME & I'll see you on the Track!

MCO is nearing its one year mark and is just as fun as ever for me. New parts and cars have been added at a trickling over the summer, but the summer also saw the introduction of user submitted paint jobs where the top jobs for selected batches of car types get added to the game as part of the updates. Rumblings are that this fall will see an explosion of new cars, as well as a new track that is a wild hairy ride through the industrial side of town. If you're looking for a game to conquer and move on, this ain't it. But if you want something that will be there night after night, give it a try. If you do buy it, I highly suggest Big Ben's School of Hard Knocks (hosted on Stratics.com) as a primer, followed up MCOSafehouse.com and maybe even a visit to crued.com to get some setups to start tinkering with. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Hi. Motorcityonline is no longer playable. Electronic Arts pulled the plug on it on Aug.29,2003. I know because I was playing Motorcityonline until the very end. I don't know why Amazon.com still has it listed.

too bad..

i just happened to think of this game and i ran a search to see if maybe by some chance this game was going to come back. the only things i found on it was old message boards and cheat codes. motor city online was an amazing game, too bad it was canceled.

Its a sad shame that MotorCity Online is no more...

It was one of the greatest games I have played online and not just for the playability and graphics but for the friends I made from the time of Beta til the death of MCO...and if MCO does return from the grave..I'll be there ;)

Compared to other games I've had to pay to play online, this is small potatoes...I'll pay $... to play NASCAR 4. And I paid $... per month to play NASCAR 2!! So $... is nothing compared to these other games. This game is awesome, the beta needed some work but it still was a great game. So if you ask me it is very much worth the money to play this game online. So go buy it already!!!

UNHAPPY WITH FEE

I PLAYED THE OLD GAME STREERODS FOR THE AMIGA AND IT"S THE SAME IDEA , BUYING CARS AND PARTS TO BUILD UP YOUR CAR, TO FINALLY RACE FOR MONEY OR TITLES. THIS GAME WITH IT"S GRAPHICS ARE GREAT, BUT THE IDEA OF ONLINE FEES IS NOT RIGHT.SO, IF YOU LIKE THE IDEA OF PAYING TO RACE THEN BUY IT, BECAUSE THE ONLY WAY TO PLAY IS PAY.
