this game is the best game i have bought in awhile its alot better than that pokemon my deck of cards is the best i have blue eyes ultimate dragon red eyes metal dragon and exzodia nobody has beaten me yet i have already beat yami yugi 30 times. but this game has everything you would want in it and the cards you receive in the box are blue eyes white dragon black magician and the head of exzodia you fight each other cards. the only thing that suxs is that for really rare cards you have to give up 2 cards that are in play before u can use that card.

THIS GAME IS AWESOME! You will never find any game like it because it is so unique. The game play is great and if you get to yami yugi, and beat him 5 times, and nothing happens use this code in the password option (WARNING: This code will give you a new deulist! A very hard one at that!). The code is 06987398! Good luck at it!

Waist of money

Origionally when i purchased this game, i was expecting to quickly pick up, and learn how to master the game. i was wrong... this game require well thought out strategy, and is not easy to quickly create a good deck. once I read the manuel on how to play the ACTUAL card game, i realized theat this has the weirdest, and most obsurd rules compared to the real game. In Dark duel stories, there are hardley any trap or magic cards, a Kuriboh (weakest monster in the game) is capable to beat the blue eyes white dragon(strongest monster in the game), because of a new rule the threw into this game alone. you cant use special abilities of cards, you cant use ritual cards, you can somehow fuse cards together without polymerization, and many other flaws. If you are a new yu gi oh player, do not waist your money on this version, get Eternal duelest sould for game boy advance. if oyu have played it before, do not unlearn strategy by geting this game.

Yugi game

I am a big fan of YuGiOh, watch the show, have some cards, and have this game. The reason I wanted this game was the free cards and also to play the game. I heard the early games came with D Magician, Blue Eyes and Exodia, and that later games had different cards. I wanted the early game, since those cards are worth more, but those are all gone.
All games now come with the other cards, which are AcidTrapHole, Salamandara, and Seiyaru (?). Basically a Trap card, a Magic card, and a dragon card. In terms of the card game, these cards are better to use, but not as valuable as the original three.
The game is fun, but not completely like the card game. It is slightly different but is based on the card game. I am halfway done, but have already played a lot and stayed up late. It is addicting. I'm not sure if it is a game you keep playing once you beat it and get all the cards, but you are able to link and play other people, so that might make it fun for a long time.
If you are a fan, definitely get it.

The Heart of the cards!

This Game is the best I've ever played (If it was on gamecube I would have a heart attack because it's so good). You can create cards by using card parts is simply brilliant. The cards are awsome especially for the: 5 Exodia cards, Black Luster Soilder, Gate Guardian, and last but the best:BLUE EYES ULTIMITE DRAGON! If you get this card (like I did, seriously) you are swimming in the winning pool. I just have to say this is best strategy and card game I have ever played! And I hope you enjoy it to.

it is a fantastic game, however it would be better if the same kind of thing came out on GBA or GC as immortal duelest and dungeon dice monsters are the only thingon the GBA and the storyline insnt as good.

Disclaimer: I am a serious gamer. My negative review of this game is not based on a dislike of games with rules simple enough that older children and young adults can play. I enjoy less complex games I can play with my kids as much as I enjoy very complex games like Avalon Hill's Star Fleet Battles or Axis and Allies. Also, I am not 11 years old and refuse to describe this game by saying that it is neat, cool, or it rules (although if I did you would probably see "it stinks," "it bites," or it is just plain awful").

I bought myself a copy of Dark Duel Stories last week after much ranting and raving about how good it is by my thirteen year old son. I have played for about five hours (don't want to have a knee-jerk reaction to it) and I feel that I wasted my money. I was expecting a game that faithfully followed the rules of the original card game like the Poke'mon TCG for Gameboy. What I got was a game that has rules that are often vague, that are in sharp contrast to the originals, and don't always work the same from game to game.

A few examples

There is nothing in the rule book that says certain classes of monsters are strong or weak against others (like in Poke'mon) yet I have noticed on several occasions that a weak "light" monster will kill a strong "fiend" monster with triple the attack points. Sometimes, however, a weak monster will also kill a strong monster of the same type.

Regular rules do not apply to trap, fusion, or magic cards. Continous trap cards will dissappear the turn after they are played. The five spaces for trap and magic cards aren't there. The fusion deck zone is gone completely (although some of the cards can be fused without the required use of Polymerization).

If you're thinking it can't get worse.. It does. The programmers of this game evidently couldn't figure out that the text for a card is more important than the picture that was on the original. A large part of the cards do not display the full name because there is not space. Many monster cards have special abilities but if you don't have the physical version of the card or a book that lists them you won't even know about them.

Magic and ritual cards suffer the same text problem but with a twist. The cards have a very abreviated amount of the original text. For example, the card "Curse of Tri-Horne" is identified as a ritual but doesn't say what the ritual does. How can anyone who doesn't have the real card know what the text, "Offer: B.Dragon Jungle King etc" means.

I could go on about this game for much longer than anyone would want to read and take more space than Amazon allows but I think I've gotten my point across. Just in case I haven't the bottom line is this: Spend $... on the actual cards or get a different Gameboy game. Don't waste you money on this poorly programmed game.

Dark Duel Stories

This game is fun, but by no means the best I've played.

Gameplay --- After you start a new game, you are in Domino Level 1. You can play Tristan, Joey, Mai, Mako, or Yugi. THAT'S ALL? JUST CLICK ON THE CHARACTER AND DUEL? I was hoping for something like an RPG where you walk around town and complete quests and meet people and then get to duel. It's so straightforward that it's boring! After you beat everyone on that stage 5 times, you can move on. The final stage is Yami Yugi. When you get into a duel, the arena is set up as follows: Card information and artwork is to the left, your hand and cards in play on the bottom right, and your opponent's hand and cards in play at the top. Cards are just red rectangles. The cards in play are all monsters, except for field magic cards and equip magic cards(which aren't shown in play!). There's no setting of trap or magic cards on the second row. As far as traps go, it's only one per turn and it disappears the next turn, even if it is not activated! How different from the card game is that!? Magic cards are limited to direct effects (to the opponent), field, and equip cards. There's no graveyard! That means that cards like Monster Reborn and Soul Release have no effect. Also, special effect cards like Man Eater Bug don't have any flip effect! Some do, like Time Wizard and Mystical Elf, but it's not the same as the card game. Fusion monsters don't need Polymerization, and you somehow need to know which ones fuse? I have yet to complete a fusion because I can't figure it out!

Graphics --- They're really not impressive. The duel graphics are very plain (yeah rectangles!) and the best graphics are the card art. The other graphics are when the characters talk to you. Unless you are a huge fan of anime (I AM!), you won't like it. There are no battle graphics except for a card turning over and moving up and down (thump) when attacking.

Card construction --- Once you figure this out, battles become very easy. You can make cards from card parts that have a wide range of attack and defense points. For example, I made a card with 2000/2000 and only 4 stars. Like I said, easy to win.

The element superiority/inferiority makes it seem like Pokemon (a little), but it comes in handy in battles.

Music --- Cute and simple. No real theme song or anything like in Zelda or Mario.

One more thing... It's unfair how your opponents can have more than one restricted card (like Raigeki), while you can only have one.

I beat this game very quickly, and I enjoyed it, but Konami could have done a lot better (apparently, this is called Eternal Duelist Soul, but I don't have a GBA). I'd recommend this game if you are looking for something easy and you already know how to play. WARNING: STEEP LEARNING CURVE. And this game isn't just for kids! So get it if you want a quick series of duels, or if you have friends who can link battle with you.

Summary: Simple graphics, good game, many flaws.

It's time to duel!

I love it! My friend bought it and let me play it. I love the show and think this game is just like the real thing. The card game is called "Duel Monsters". Another thing I like about it is how you get to collect the cards. If I could I'd give this game a million star rating(And that's an understatement).
