Metal Gear, the best it can be with the technology at hand

Considering that this game came out after the tremendous PSX hit Metal Gear Solid, the Game Boy version isn't bad at all. As a matter of fact, its great! With a whole lot of VR Missions, a complex set of stages, stealth action, a complete arsenal of weapons, and so much more, this game is one of the best for Game Boy Color. Konami did a wonderful job in moving a PSX game, to Game Boy. This Metal Gear Solid though is not a recreation of the Playstation one. It has an entirely different story line, new characters, new bosses, basically new everything. To sum it all up, Metal Gear Solid for Game Boy Color is a wonderful game that ranks very high on the all time greatest Game Boy Color games.

absolutely perfect!

this game is easily the best game i have ever played for the game boy color. it has simply awesome graphics for the console, and packs a punch. it still contains all the stealthy action from the PS version and all the weapons. it has 180 vr missions and 13 regular stages. once you beat all the vr training missions it unlocks a sound mode where you can play any sound in the game. it is an easy game with classic bosses that aren't hard at all. when you beat a stage you can go back and play it again. if you want a perfect game for the game boy color get this one!

Mush like Metal Gear2; solid Snake

In 1990 Konami released a game for the "NEW" msx system named Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. It was topped only by Metal Gear Solid for playstation. But it was amaizing. This game is almost identical to it in graphic design, and better in story. This game is the best gameboy color game I have ever played! It may not compare to the playstation version for obvious reason (Graphics), but it is the best use of GameBoy color's Graphic capabilities.

I just ordered Metal Gear Solid a day ago and it KICKS BUTT. So far I'm at the forth stage and its been really fun. The game has all the guns from the Playstation version and has way cool graphics, sound, and gameplay. The sounds are just like midi form. Oh Have I said the VR missions KICK BUTT too. The reason why I say this is because it has 180 missions with weopons or sneeking or both. I also ordered another game so I can play VS Battle Mode and It Kicks Butt too. I would say this game is #1 for my gameboy It could also be yours So BuY It ToDaY!

Whoo Doggies! MGS for GBC!

For those who have played Metal Gear for the PlayStation, you know what you get: high quality, good gameplay, brilliant graphics, wonderful storyline (The PSX's story was 21/2 times the normal length of a movie screenplay, but I'd still watch it all!) Now it comes to Game Boy. I was skeptical at first. After all, a decent gmae since Pokemon and the Super Mario Bros. remake has not been found on the Game boy. I was, however surpirsed to see the sheer quality in this game. The static that comes through on the codec pics on the PSX is till there, andimations are smooth, movement is fluid, and the music is liek a midi version of the PSX soundtrack. If you loved Metal Gear Solid for the PSX, and have a Game Boy Color, definitely pick this up. While Dr. Naomi isn't here, the Col. and Mei Ling are, and we've got new friends. The only thing I can complain about is the Cigarettes have turned into a device called the "Fogger." Does the same thing, just no Malboros for Snake. Still, a must have.

Metal Gear Solid on GBC

This and Resident Evil Gaiden are most likely my favorite games in my GBC collection(and its a big one). I would like to inform you that if you don't buy this game right now you are missing out on one of the best game experiances you will ever have. So here you go, my review on Mtal Gear Solid.

Story: The game puts you in the boots of action hero and well known sabatour, Solid Snake. Snake is sent to Galuade, which is actually Outer Heaven. While there, Snake is instructed to work with Delta Force to rescue reseachers who were working on none other than Metal Gear. Of course, if Metal Gear is there it must be destroyed. All of the plans go wrong when a group of mercenaries called Balck Chamber wipe out Delta Force, and all but one of the reseachers is killed. Snake is now in a fight for survival to face his past and destroy a nuclear weapons that could end the world as we know it.

Graphics: They are like Metal Gear On the Playstation shrunk to fit the screen, in other words the game looks absoloutly amazing.

Sound: The music is a gentle harmony at times and intense mix of rock and classic compositions. Great sound is the signature of any MGS game, and this is no different.

Gameplay: its intense and very smooth in the way that you can go from a shadow to a one man army with no choppy movement whatsoever. The game almost grabs you by the neck and forces you to play. The boss fights are present and in full motion as well.

my conclusion is that this is a wonderful game and should be experiance by all. Oh and as a warning, this game has a lot of language that is not appropriate for kids. Other wise, go get this right now.

Just call me, Snake!

I agree that this is one of the best titles available for the GameBoy. You always have to take into account the power of the GameBoy when reviewing any game. The graphics, sound etc. are always limited somewhat but I feel Konami did as good a job as possible in putting out a superb product. My only real gripes are as follows: The graphics are first rate with the exception of the radar screen (too small to easily discern enemies) and the ability to scroll the screen in only one direction to view your surroundings, although some would argue this enhances the challenge, I found it frustrating coupled with the tiny radar. Game control is OK but I'm not real crazy about the clunkiness in using items and changing weapons on the run. Other than these things the game is excellent. The virtual missions really help you practice and get a handle on different scenarios and the actual real missions are quite tough even on "easy." Overall, I would say if you like a first class spy game...get this game right away!

honestly, this was the only gameboy color gme to keep my interest. you could pretty much say it's the NES metal gear with the moves enabled in the playstation metal gear game, the name is the same but it's a completely different game from playstation version. i recommend the game if you can find it...was hard to get even when it was new.

Metal Gear Solid, a teen's review

I love metal gear solid games. I enjoyed this one particularly.I noticed a lack of weapons and it was hard to find most of the guns. The AI of the enemy soldiers was hilarious because they were almost blind and should be in wheelchairs because of thier phisical stregnth. This game was mild compared to the PS and GCN series: No sexual themes, blood, gore, or language. I did notice this game was intensly violent for a game boy color game. The graphics were top notch so were the animations. No voiceovers, but what can you expect from a GBC game. I also noticed the colonel asking for some scotch on the game begining cinematic. This game is suitable for ages 13 and up, not six. I loved this game it was very fun.

Absolutely Wonderful!

This is the best game so far that bought for the gameboy. This game will keep entertain for hours. It is very similar to the early versions on MGS. The Vr missions are also quite fun. If you like the first MGS or any other MGS I would recomend buying this game.
