If you're too old for Pokemon and like Zelda DX, try this!

I'm a complete newbie in this series, having matured from playing Pokemon, and then enjoying Zelda DX for Gameboy Color. If you fit in that category, then you should give this game a chance. It's a good thing that Enix made 2 games on one cartridge, because Dragon Warrior 1 by itself wouldn't have been worth the price of a Gameboy cartridge in today's market. That doesn't mean it isn't a good game, it's just short compared to recent RPGs. What really makes it stand out, though is that it stands up even today. The storyline is a bit flat, but it beats Pokemon's story by an anteater and a half.

Dragon Warrior 2, though it doesn't have backgrounds when you're fighting monsters except when you're fighting bosses, is a much deeper and more involving game. Now, you can fight more than one monster at a time and respond with your own party of three members .

The world in DW2 has grown about 4 times larger (it looks like it has grown a lot more in the map, but that's because they shrunk land area of the original continent by about half), and you can sail by boat to different parts and islands. There is also a much greater evil to defeat. It obviously takes much longer to beat too...

One of the things I like about DW1, but particularly in DW2, is the very small amount of "Dungeon Crawling" you have to do; in my opinion "Dungeon Crawling" is simply cheating on the amount of time it takes to play a game that doesn't have a lot of actual land to cover. While there are caves and towers, you'll be spending most of your time in the normal world. Unlike some more recent RPGs which cause you to Dungeon-Crawl for no specific reason (like Zelda DX), this one focuses more on walking around like you would in real life.

And the ending to either DW1 or DW2 is not dissapointing, but quite satisfying; When I finished DW2, I started playing DW1 again because took me a long time to beat DW2.

Which brings me to my next point; it's really enjoyable to have these two games on one cartridge, because you can see all of the connections and changes between the 1st and the 2nd; when that guard says about Alefgard "that kingdom has changed much over the years", he's not kidding.

A WARNING though; even though the box cover features somewhat cute characters and so do the introduction cutscenes, this is not for people who do not appreciate involving storylines, so be forewarned!

I must say, I'm eagerly waiting for Enix's Dragon Warrior III remake which looks even better than these games!

Every true RPG gamer knows who Erdrick is. He hit the US with Dragon Warrior one in the eighties and started the console roleplaying industry for Nintendo. After Dragon Warrior IV, he and his descendants, along with a certain merchant, vanished. Well, they're back. This time he has a new name, much more modern language skills, and a slightly prettier landscape to explore. Enix kept the basics of the game the same, but they did change a few things, as mentioned above. Erdricks name, the type of language used, some graphics, and a few very minor item locations. Anyone for instance remember the fairy flute in Kol? It's now two steps down from the hot springs, and called the Pixy Flute. If you don't have the original games, or have trouble plodding through the old graphics, these games are a must. The first hour of play I had to adjust to but it came back pretty quickly. It is much closer to the japanese original and you must buy, if for no reason other than to show the continued American interest in this series. All in all, an absolutely incredible combo game that I would recommend to anyone. If sales are high enough, there is some hope of the remaining games, 3 and 4 on gameboy, and possibly 5, 6, and 7 on playstation, arriving in the US. As it is, Enix has returned and proven itself viable. Their unique style has returned and we are ready. Classic Dragon Warrior returns only on a different system

If you loved Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 on the NES like I did,then you'll love this remake of both classics on the Game Boy Color.The game has the same goal,but there are many nice,new features on these versions of DW 1&2.This is a game that diehard DW fans,as well as RPG beginners,will really enjoy.This game is a must buy!So what are you waiting for?! Get your copy now!

It's Back, and Now it's even Better!!

I just bought this game about a week ago & I'm already hooked.When I got it,I didnt even know that they were first played on the NES until some1 told me.This was weird,but I was looking through our old NES games,and I found DRAGON WARRIOR.I hooked up the NES we had buried in the closet,and played it.Its just like the Gameboy Version except they added a few better things to it.Anyway,this is a Great Game for RPG Fans,even if your not.I Totally Reccomend it!!!

Dragon Warrior I+II is a five star game

This game is great for all you people who play RPGs, or the Final Fantasy Series. For those of you who don't know, this is a remake of the 1989 NES versions of these games. This game has nice graphics, good storyline, and a lot of items you can get throughout playing the game. Dragon Warrior 1 is where everything starts, and where the hero is a descendent of Loto, a guy who is dead and legendary. Dragon Warrior 2 has three characters in it, and they are descendents of the main character in Dragon Warrior 1. Sounds like a really good game, now doesn't it? For those of you that have and liked this game, Dragon Warrior VII is coming out somewhere in august or late july. And I did some research, and it says that the Dragon Warrior series is Japan's BEST selling series ever. Even better than the Final Fantasy series. So, for the people who like RPGs and have a GameBoy Color make sure to pick this game up. All your money is worth it.

I always loved the Dragon Warrior seris on the NES. So I picked this game up as soon as it came out. Even if you already own these games on your nintendo, you should get this game boy 2 pak. The games are vastly improved from there NES counterparts. For example, remember having to pull down the menu and push stairs just to climb stairs in Dragon Warrior 1? Not any more it's automatic now like every other game in the world. Also the graphics are better the their NES versions. The game also comes with a neat map poster that shows the whole land of both the games. Who could resist 2 great games in 1 cartridge ....

A great remake of the originals

This game stays true to the original while adding cutscenes, better graphics, and better sound. I hope that they make the rest of the series for game boy color.

One of my all time favorites in the RPG-category would have to be the "Dragon Warrior" saga. This special pack includes both "Dragon Warrior I" and "Dragon Warrior II". Both are classics, each one with its own storyline, characters etc.

"Dragon Warrior I" is the story about a lone warrior whom must save a kidnapped Princess from a gang of monsters. "Dragon Warrior II" on the other hand tells about a group of heros and their quest to stop a different kind of foe.(I'm not too sure about this one quite yet.)

The first is probably the most TOUGHEST of all, while the rest in the series is a bit easier. "Dragon Warrior III" is the best remake of them all yet! But even the old Nes version of "Dragon Warrior IV" is pretty good.

"Dragon Warrior: Monsters" is a bit kiddy' like, but still a nice addition. Kinda' reminds me of Pokemon only better!! Here's a small rating for each one:

DRAGON WARRIOR I

****(4-stars. Fun gameplay and the option to go anywhere you choose is a good challenge.)

DRAGON WARRIOR II

*****(5-stars. Better than the original since you get four characters altogether to help. Not too familiar with the story yet).

DRAGON WARRIOR III

*****(5-stars. A very, VERY cool opening sequence for this one. Especially at the battle against the Dragon. The option to choose characters is awesome! Better than I and II!!

DRAGON WARRIOR IV

***(3-stars. Fair gameplay but the movement is VERY poor. It's a cool change that you play as different people in different stories. Battle system can use some improvement though.)

DRAGON WARRIOR V

***(3-stars. It's alright, but the graphics went a bit downhill here. Much different than the others in the series but good.).

DRAGON WARRIOR VI

****(4-stars. Improved graphics and a worthy sequel. The characters are much, MUCH better than those from part 5.).

DRAGON WARRIOR VII

(N/A I haven't played this one yet.)

OVERALL: An excellent series altogether!!!

This game brings back a lot of memories of my old nes. I like this one more than the nes version though, for a few reasons. 1: better graphics 2: got rid of that ... medieval talk and 3: changed stupid name "erdrick" to loto, which is what it is in the japanese version (actually, roto, but it's pretty much the same). Also, some of the town names changed to their original. I like that. Good game. go buy it now

i really enjoy this game i got it a couple weeks ago and i love it. its almost exactly like the old nes version. its challenging and lots of fun!
