Anyone like me who fell in love with the SNES version get it

The original Donkey Kong Country has the best sound and graphics on the SNES and it is safe to say the same for this GBC version. (it also may be the must fun for Game Boy Color) The only problem is that an autosave replaces candys save point as the way to save which makes it a bit easy but that doesn't matter. Either this or Super Mario Bros DX is the best GBC title. Anyone who fell in love with Donkey Country like I did must get this.

THIS GAME IS LIKE SO COOL.I MEAN THE OTHER DOUNKEY KONGS WERE GOOD BUT THIS IT JUST LEFT ME SPEECHLESS.IF YOU PLAYED DK ON SNES YOU WOULD SAY THE GRAPHICS ARE COOL FOR A SNES.BUT THE GRAPHICS ON GAME BOY COLOUR ARE EXACTLY LIKE THE SNES'S AND THATS AMAZING FOR A GAMEBOY.WE ALL KNOW GAMEBOY GAMES AS LITTLE MEN RUNNING AROUNG BUT THIS IS GREAT.

A must have if you loved DKC for Super Nintendo or missed it

Before I bought this game, I was skeptical about how good it would be. I loved the SNES version of this game and I own it. In fact, I bought the SNES version the day it came out. I have explored everything througout the game and I thought that I would go back to it with the Game Boy Color version. Well, I did more than that! Once I pulled the game out of its little box, I was on it for hours. Rareware, one of the greatest game developers out there did a great job converting the game. Plus, there are lost levels for those who have mastered the SNES version. The best part about this is that all the little kids that missed this classic game the first time will have a chance to play one of Rarewares greatest games ever. I recomend this game if you are a big fan of the Donkey Kong Country series or of Super Mario Bros. DX.

It's a Classic

I played Donkey Kong Country to death on the SNES, and I loved it so much back then that I bought this GBC version to see if it could live up to it, and it did! I immediately became addicted to it all over again- it's almost exactly like the original. The graphics & sound are not as good, but afer all, it's the gameplay that counts. Donkey & Diddy Kong can still bounce on tires, ride ostriches, rhinos & frogs, collect golden bananas, ride on runaway mine carts, cartwheel through enemies and swing on vines. If you've never played the original version, then you'd better get this one to see what you missed - it's an all-time classic Nintendo game, and definitely a must-have Game Boy game as well.

Good but should have been a GBA game

This game is an ok remake of the SNES classic, but it falls short of its expectaions. Of course, Donkey Kong Country was an excellent SNES game so that's why I give this game the three stars but nothing more. The 8-bit GBC just can't handle the 16-bit game, and that's why the graphic quality and much of the sound is greatly diminished. The blurry visuals makes it hard for one to play the game during various levels ( the mine cart races come to mind) so its just not fun to play like its SNES cousin. Sure, there are some new minigames to play, but overall the experience is pretty much the same. Unless you're a Kong fanatic and want to relive this experience again, don't bother with this mediocre game. A note to Nintendo and Rareware, please just stick to the NES-to-GBC translations, and save any more SNES game remakes for the much more powerful Game Boy Advance.

I Had It On The Snes, I Know Hav e It On The Gameboy

Donkey Kong is one of the best games to grace the Gameboy. Admitidly it has less colours than its counterpart but the gameplay is amazing. Donkey Kong is a must have game, there is so much fun to have with this game and there are loads of levels to complete so it willlast you a long time. Hidden within the levels are secret areas which you have to find if you want to fully completely finish the game, that is where the real challenge lies. Buy this game ASAP and you wont stop playing for a long time. Enjoy!!!!!

Fun game... Slow system

It's time that Nintendo realized that their Game Boy system needs to be upgraded. Rare did a good job before with their original game squeezing 32 bit technology into the 16 bit Super Nintendo. Unfortunately they had to remove some of the best features that made this game so popular: Superb stereo soundtrack and both characters on the screen at the same time. There are also many places in which the game slows down significantly because the poor little Game Boy can't take more than 5 moving characters at once. The playability also seems to have declined. If you have long since gotten rid of your old Super Nintendo, why not download some Super Nintendo Emulators from Plasticman.org and get the ROM and play it exactly the way it was presented in 1994? Not as compact, but you get the idea.

Nothing could be improved

Another SNES game crosses into a smaller realm

Several years back, Rare introduced the world to an incredible game with graphics unlike any seen before. Years later the game has made a triumphant return to Game Boy. The game play we came to know and love is still there. The graphics aren't as good which is to be expected, but they're still stupendous. Play control is as tight as can be for a Game Boy game, and the sound is reminiscient of the SNES title. DKC is a great platform game with secrets scattered throughout. This is also one of the better "retro" games, brought back from ages ago. Buy this game if you can get your hands on it.

Graphics are weak on GBA

Although this game is targeted for GBC, I bought it for GBA and was disappointed with the graphics. The game play is great but it looks like they only used about 4 colors.
