How can you have 12 reviews of a game that hasn't come out yet? Did any of you review Sierra's Gabriel Knight 3 this way too?
LucasArts! The king of graphic adventures strikes again.

All of the Monkey Island adventure series are cool... they only get better with time and technology... Yet even the old classics are worth rediscovering if you've never played them. Check them all out. I also recommend LucasArts's Indiana Jones titles.
Enjoyable addition to the Monkey Island series

I gave this 4 stars because I feel that 5 stars are given out too easily and should be given for a game that gets me more addicted to the play and storyline. And the four stars come from my enjoyment with the puzzles and characters development so far. Escape from Monkey Island has done a good job with it's new technology venture into 3D, which creates an interesting pinnoccio effect. The OpenGL and Direct3D work well(although I can't distinguish between them in this game). And when you add that with the musical score it creates a swashbuckling effect while in play. The gameplay interface is completely through the keyboard or joystick. I preferred the previous interface (from Return to Monley Island), which the game itself comicly refers to in their inability in providing one. Some of the characters I've encountered so far have a slight jar-jar-binks feel, which can simlify characters. But like jar-jar you get used to how they interact. Also, make sure to check out the other games in the series, the plot and jokes will be even funnier. Finally, I recommend you purchase the game because of the GREAT value ... AND because it's entertaining with much thought put into it on their part and ours.
What a disappointment

I have played the other MI games and they were great fun. Why did they decide to remove the ability to use the mouse???? The graphics were better in the past versions. This was a waste of money, since it's almost impossible to play.
Great Demo, but just say NO to walkthru's

I managed to download the full version of the game. I was pleased to learn from the opening cinema scene that good 'ol Guybrush is still as incompetent as ever. I was disappointed that I wasn't allowed to visit Meathook or the Vodoo lady, and was told that I had to wait for the retail version. I also would have liked one or two more puzzles in the demo. Instead, the only thing I could do is stop the catapult. I already have a pre-order of the game, but will refuse to buy any sort of walkthru guide. Buying a guide for a game removes the teensiest bit of challenge, and might even prevent you from discovering hidden jokes in the game. You also get a much better sense of satisfaction knowing that YOU beat the game, not the game guide.
Not the best MI game, but worth buying.

I'm not quite sure what it is about this game that I didn't quite like. I just didn't find it quite as fun as the previous three. Maybe it's just the jokes are getting old, or a lot of the puzzles are just variations on what we've had before (insult fights, etc.) The music is more or less the same, and I found myself turning it off in places (WAY too repetitive). I also never did understand games that don't make good use of the mouse...this made me use keyboard keys for *everything*, not just basic character movement. Yuck! I find that slows me down and is rather tedious.
But it still is one of the better adventure games out right now, and if you like the genre, it is still well worth buying and playing. If this is your first Monkey Island game, you probably will enjoy it much more than I did. And heck, if you haven't played Grim Fandango yet, getting that game (a much better one, IMO) more than makes up for the cost of this one. I also was surprised to find a complete quick-walkthrough for the game, kudos to Lucas Arts for including this rather than the usual 1-900 hint line number.
Great humor, tough puzzles

If you like role playing games but not the super-serious-save-the-world ones or the really-bloody-and-gory ones, this series is for you. The humor is wonderful - very dry and surprising, the kind that makes you laugh out loud even if you're alone. The characters are well-developed, the puzzles are fairly open-ended, and the main Guy (his name is Guybrush, Guy for short) is dopey and exceedingly likeable. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I've had to go online for a few hints when the puzzle got a little too obscure but real die-hards should be able to figure them out without the help. Not for kids, though, some of the humor would go right over their heads (or so you would hope).

The Curse of Monkey Island game was better but this is still a great game, which will give a lot of laughs.

Yet another incarnation of the beloved series, this time in full fledged three dimensions, a trap to most game companies when trying to transition but, not suprisingly, a goal that is reached with the great lucasarts adventurecompany...For the most part this is one of the best examples of how to transition to 3d and not ruin the overall experience that your previous games had
Fun, but much worse than the other 3

All I have to say is "Monkey Kombat" what a horrible, horrible way to end a game. Since when is copious note taking any fun? Lucas Arts tried to replace the amusing insult fighting with this drivel and it failed miserably. The overall game itself also pales in comparision to the stellar 3 games leading up to this one. Quite average, even for a monkey island fan. Monkey Island fans, pick this one up and suffer through the bad parts, but everyone else stay the hell away.
