not what I expected

I bought this game on suggestion from an email prompt for my kids and it's not at all like a video game. My family found it very repetative and slow. I also had trouble getting out of it when we finally figured out how to make the character move and realized it didn't get much more exciting than it was just sitting there.

It was not at all what I thought it would be, although the characters were funny and very colorful.

This game is so good. However, I felt a little disappointed because I expected better graphics. The jokes have made me laugh so many times. If you like the previous version (Curse) then you must love this new one. By the way, it's important to note that a 3d graphic accelerator card was supposed to be needed, but I have seen this game running smoothly on computers with generic AGP 8MB video cards. I even didn't note the difference between the graphics on my computer (TNT2 Riva 32 MB) and some friends's computers (those generic non-3d accelerated cards). So if you are interested and you don't have a 3d graphics card, I recommend you to download the demo and judge by yourself if you can play EFMI or not. In my opinion this game is excellent, but it's not better than the previous version.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this game is to play. The gameplay is smooth, and the graphics are great. I Enjoyed every moment of this game, and i would reccomend it to anyone who likes a well-made game with comedy in it too. THe only slight problem was that my friends older computer had trouble running it. Other than that, this game is one of my favorites. (The old monkey islands are great too!)

this game has to be the best of all monkey island games and my advice is to buy it now, fast go now, im not kidding go buy it now! i hope they make a monkey island 5:LeChucks revenge.....Again and more cameos of Murray the evil talking skull and timmy the monkey.

I loved the Monkey Island games. When I bought Escape from Monkey Island years ago, I loved it so much I tracked down the older games and tried to force my new computer to play them. It did not play the first one, because it was just not compatible. Too bad. This is one of the silliest games I've ever played and I mean that in the best possible way. The goofy humor, the silly characters, and the fun puzzle type action make this one of my favorite video games ever. Now if they'd just make another one...

I am a huge fan of the Monkey Island (MI) series. While Escape from Monkey Island does have the great signature qualities of a Monkey Island game (challenging puzzles, great acting, hillarious dialogue), this was not my favorite in the series.

I don't like that you cannot control the game using the mouse. The keyboard makes for clumsy controls.

Also, other people might disagree, but I don't like the game in 3D. To me, the MI series looks best as a cartoon. Seeing the characters in 3D just makes the game look awkward.

Also, this game is missing the signature insult swordfighting, one of the best features of the previous games.

I'd still reccommend this game, but it's not the best of the MI series. The Curse of Monkey Island is.

Play the demo and you will believe.

Escape form Monkey Island is very impressive. Not in graphics, but in the quality of writing(although the graphics are amazing). If yo have any doubts to the game, download the demo. It is almost 120MB, but it is worth the wait considering the game isn't coming out for another three weeks. The transition is seamless and the dialogue is funny. You probably hear whining about how it is keyboard only. I played with a joystick and it was really easy. Sure to be a classic like the other three before it.

ESCAPE from locks up, freezes, and crashes!

If you or your kids want to play a fun computer game, DON'T buy this latest game from LucasArts because clearly it was rushed into production for the holiday buying season. The software is very, very buggy and prone to freezing and locking up your system. You'll spend many, many hours of your time in futile efforts to make the game work. And, believe me, those efforts will be futile. Shame on LucasArts for putting such a shoddy piece of programming out in the market place. Maybe that's why there is NO moneyback guarantee with the product.

I loved the original monkey island games when they were 2-d and voiceless, the recent updates including the curse of monkey island, which was amazing, now comes the 4th escape from monkey island. Its enjoyable from every aspect, now with a dandy new, 3D format, Monkey island 4 is a wonderful gaming expierience. The basic story brings the loveable yet goofy Guybrush Threepwood and his newly wed wife Elaine, they return from their honeymoon to find a new governer set to run against Elaine in the upcoming election, and this puts elaine to work on her new campaign (...), yet bluntly, this opposing governer turns out to be the dreaded ghost pirate Le'chuck, who is planning to take over the seven seas with the ultimate insult. So in light of the return of Le'chuck, Guybrush sets out on another journey to find the ultimate insult and finally put le'chuck to his demise. The only drawback of this game, is the monkey combat, it gets really annoying after a while and i admit I took a break from the game for almost a month because of it, yet I returned to it and realized the simplicity of it. You have to remember that ,this game takes a bit of time to conquer if you do not have the strategy guide, but other than the monkey combat aspect, this game kicks major ass! its an essential for any Monkey island fan.

Excellent Game. Very funny and as exciting as the other three Monkey Island games.
