From the Vaults of War Mongers Anonymous.

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 3

Empire Earth is one of those long sought after war games with a real AI to challenge the best strategic and tactical thinkers. It's truly good old Chess on Steroids, with the attitude to boot. Us war mongers have been looking for such a game to come out for a very long time.
When playing against the computer A.I., one small mistake can utterly cost you the game. Unlike most RTS games whose A.I.'s are strictly programmed with Attrition warfare, lower unit costs, resource hoarding, and over all reliance on other cheating type subroutines. Empire Earth seems to have a masterfully crafted and programmed A.I. that uses true to life warfare strategies and tactics. If one particular strategy don't work for it. It will improvise another, until it finds one that will work to its best advantage. This is what makes it a real joy to play, and keeps it challenging for the advanced RTS War Gamer.
The A.I. of this game is so well done, I wouldn't recommend it for the first time War Gamer. Even on the easiest settings. That is, unless one likes to lose badly, has a serious masochistic streak in them, and is a glutton for punishment. It takes forethought, planning, good strategic/tactical judgment, and most of all...The A.I. doesn't have to Cheat to beat your butt. It gives you an enjoyable challenge to defeat it. It is not easily won, and you will find final victory come at a cost. The trick, make sure that cost is wisely dealt out. Remember, picking 1 simple little upgrade unwisely will cost you the game.
Now, the real joy of playing Empire Earth. Is having the ability to play other opponents Via LAN, and the ability to save the game at any given time during the multi-play. Nothing quite like one human going against other humans for a real impressive gaming experience. I have had a game last for long as a month between 3 opponents so far. I Can't wait till we get all 8 machines up, with one huge game going....NOW that Is WARFARE!!!
Playing over the Internet has not been much fun. The combination of the games complexity and the amount of net congestion these days. Deeply detracts from the enjoyment and fluidity of the gaming experience.
Empire Earth's Multi-player compatibility, It's extraordinary A.I., mix of essential features. It's vast number of units (1200 per player), well done graphics, and over all playability. Makes for a great gaming experience. Every time you play it against other human opponents...It is a whole new game. That is what's going to make it a timeless classic in my "World Domination" Book.............8 thumbs up (one for each machine on our little LAN)!!!!!

Excellent multi-player game

This is a terrible single player game. Like most, the AI is either too simple a child could win or nearly impossible to win. As a multi-player game it is much better. With a player that can actually adapt to your strategy it really makes for intense battles. I have had this game for 2 years and still play it.

Bad copy of AOK

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 4 / 11

If you played and liked AOK, don't buy this game. Here are a few points to think about:
1. Graphics are bad (every thing is small with no detail) even in 640x480. The movement detail is terrible, you can't even tell the units from one another. Oh yeah, I know, the graphics would look much better if you have one of those new NV video cards at [amt] a piece (well, AOK does not need one).
2. Action is bad, you can't tell if your archers for example are involved in a battle or just standing idle (hardly can see any flying arrows). Same for almost all the other units. You can't even tell if you are winning or loosing a battle, all you hear is (whahhh, ouuuuha, eeeeh) then either all your troops are dead or all the enemy troops are.
3. Too slow (even on my 800MHZ CEL) Don't see how you will ever play this online (what? wait 10 minutes to take turns?). AOK plays fine on my 400MHZ CEL and thats while hosting a game).
4. Not fun, you won't play this game more that once or twice. Buy it you will find out why.
5. The product is probably a result of dis-agreement on the future of AOK which led Mr. Goodman to leave and start this project to implement his own ideas. Good thing ES was mature enough to stop this type of thinking from leaking into AOK or next releases.
6. I am not a Microsoft or ES fan, I actually used to get excited when new software was released for other OS brands such as OS/2 hoping for the fall of Windows, but I have to admit that AOK is definitely the winner by far.

Better than Age of Empires?

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 3 / 7

I was expecting game play similiar to that of Age of Empires as Empire Earth packaging states "from Rick Goodman, Lead Designer of Age of Empires". I was quite disappointed in game play and interface. While I thoroughly enjoyed Age of Empires II, I found Empire Earth to be overly complicated. In addition to numerous military pieces, each also had several variables. And remember, that military piece will be antiqued in just a few minutes then you have to learn new ones! Also, trying to keep track of which type of warrior could beat whom is frustrating. It's far worse than the simple scissors, paper, rock. Did you notice the price drop from $49.99 to $19.99? And this game just came out.

Empire Earth

Empire Earth does have great graphics and gameplay, however, in return, it has tons of wonderful problems! Empire Earth "promises" things but does not fulfill them (like the night/day cycle in games-but it only works in SOME campaign games ONLY). Furthermore, Empire Earth boasts about its several units in different ages and many buildings. But, the units and buildings are the same almost. It gets boring from time to time. Empire Earth is NOT flexible. You can't change the color of your civ in a single player game, you can only play random games, civs are weird-if you pick the French, they have a british accent(all civ have this accent). Building styles are the same for all; it doesn't change. Tech Support doesn't help. And, don't bother to go visit the Empire Earth Website because they don't update it. This game, I think, is a waste of money.

Whoa Big Bugs

Well the game play would make for a great RTS game, 'cept the damm thing crashes to desktop, or even worse does a complete crash (yeah restarts the machine!) on a regular basis. Ran through all the learning game fine, but it doesn't seem to like random games...UGH! No new patches since Nov of 2001 so don't hold your breath for more fixes....

My machine is a Dell Demension PIV which is less that a year old running W2k!

Good luck and pass on this poorly tested and supported product.

OH I forgot to mention it uses secureROM a terrible security product that forced me to update my mother board drivers before the damm game would work!

Don't buy this game..even at this price

EE is a classic example of an over-engineered game. A couple of reasons:
1)While some people might like the appeal of the massive time line it encompasses, it just seems cheezy to me to have jet fighers facing off against cavalry.
2) The AI is devious. That would be a good thing if you had all the time in the world, but actually hunting down a single unit to win the game is annoying. Also, when you are playing against two or more AI players, once you attack one the other(s) comes in and hammers you. The manual discusses this explicitly and warns of the impending consequences, but it still doesn't make any sense. It is almost like you are playing all the AI players at once from the very first nanosecond of the game. Some players may find this a challenge, but I feel cheated. At least in other games the AI players take time to realize that you are progressing too quickly and then band together. EE's approach is unrealistic and nonhuman.
3) Units. Three words to describe - rocks, scissors, paper. Yawn. It makes sense, but EE emphasized this to the point of absurd across the timeline (other reviewers joke about bowmen taking out a tank or somesuch folly - it really isn't funny if the tank is your unit.) And the controls are fickle and not terribly intuitive. For instance, I never figured out how to effectively use the modern artillery cannon,
4) Graphics and gameplay. (Warning - conspiracy theory alert.) I have this theory that whenever a computer game is about to be improved upon from a graphics perspective the game studio and its programmers rally around a new graphics technology that differentiates their appproach from the past product. It simply must be better because it is NEWER. Well, IMO the graphics are annoying and lack certain elements to give you the geewhiz 3D that you don't even need. This slows down everyone's PC (read all the reviews) and doesn't make a difference towards gameplay. In some respects, it may hamper the gameplay.

In summary this game was frustrating and annoying after about three weeks. I still find myself playing AOEII more than any other game on the market. And that really is the major point, once the novelty wears off, what game do you want to own. Not this one, IMHO.

Ok, if you have a good system and are looking for the best real time strategy empire building game ever, then you should get Empire earth! with 14 epochs, excellent graphics, and many awards, this is really a great game if you have a good system

Too slow

Too slow interface with too much time consumption
the game took 6 hours to finish a random map game with no fun

I just played out of curiosity
But this is almost similer to the age of empire with less originality

Just adding 14 epoch does not give much fun
there is not so much difference between the prehistoric and nano age

Despite the advertisement
actually there is no civilization at all

I think AOE 2 is much better than this game

Too Many Bugs

There are too many bugs. Yes, the game looks really great, but the game keeps locking up, even after installing all the patches. I tried, but couldn't get Sierra to do anything about it. If I could have tried it before I bought it, I never would have.
