I love the new Command and Conquer:Tiberian Sun. I have the old one, Red Alert and I thought that would always be the best game I had. Boy was I wrong. Tiberian Sun is a lot better and more fun.
So is this what we have waited for so long??

Well, it seems that those idiots who gave TS a low rating was because they thought TS reused Red Alerts units. That is completely wrong . TS is set in a futuristic world with advanced units. Red Alert was a PREQUEL to the original C&C and was set throughout the Cold War. TS does not use standard tanks and the new units were made as it would have been seen in the year TS took place which was 2030. This is especially true with GDI and there titans, disruptors, firestrom defense, rpg towers, MMK II and a whole lot more. Nod has has the cyborgs, underground units, and and the banshee aircraft etc. Now, are these the same units from RA, i dont think so. Westwood retained a couple of units from the original C&C such as the devil's tougue and light tank but they upgraded the functions of these units to please gamers. Nothing from this game was copied from RA- trust me. As for Starcraft some say its better than TS and some say it isnt. I personally hate that game. Its way more complex to understand than TS simple interface, no deformidable terrain, you have to RIGHT CLICK to deselect units (very awkward), structures take extremely long to build - as well as units, those same structures look like they have legs(terran barracks and engineering bay). I also have no idea what the storyline is about (no real actors - jus bad FMVs).I could name a whole lot more but it would take up too much space in this review. The only single thing i like is the marine responses which give u a good laugh now and then but it still gets repetitive after a while which is common in almost all RTS games. Sure, Starcraft is an original game with new features that pleases people just like the old C&C. some people ask for too much in a sequel and when they find what they havent been looking for, they disgrace the game. We'll see what sequel is in store for Starcraft but for now, if youre a serious fan of C&C's then pick up a copy of TS- you'll find an intersting game with a whole bunch of new features including some old time favs that would have remembered.
A good stratedgy game

Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun is one of the best games in the command and conquer series. There are many missions for each side and the game has a very complex story line with many interesting twists.(thats 1 star) The game also has pretty good graphics. You can see all of the unit pretty well and they move realistically. The terrain is also very detailed. If a large explosion occur the area where it happened will become deformed.(thats 2 stars)The 3rd star goes to the fact that their are alot of new units. Their would be a fourth star but all of the units on one side have a perfectly equal opposing unit on the other side with the exeption if the special units.
Its stood up and fought.

I bought this game when it first came out in the summer of 1999. When I first got it I thought it was real good, even better than its the 2 previous games. Your (and the computer's)AI is much smarter than in the origianal 2, so if you send your units 10 feet away they wont take the senic route around a moutain! I also like how the terain modifies movment. If your APC or Recon Bike go down hill they'll go faster, and up hill they'll go slower (I'm not just talking about designed hills like in the original where it looks like a flat surfac, and acts like one, but it is actually a hill). Also, by using heavy fire power (i.e. the NOD Multi-Missle) you can alter the terrain thus macking it much harder to travel by, witch can be a serrious advantage. Also, with all these new gameplay features there is another upgrade, the ability to get vehicles rather soon. In the original you couln't get vehicles till the 4th or 5th mission and it was usually pretty hard to get there. In Tiberium Sun it may take you a while (depenging on the diffoiculty) but pretty much anybody can get at least to vehicle missions (if you have it on easy). But with all these new features come a price, the limit of good missions and the difficulty to access them. When I finially found a mission that I wanted to play over it took me forever to get it again (I forgot to save it by itself and I had to replay the game). Also, the skirmish mode, meant for just having fun with whatever kind of units you want, is rather weak. It takes away some units cool abilities, like the Mamoth MKII's machine guns witch are perfect for mowing down all those troops (only avaliable in the ploted game and is still rather weak when compared to the description of it in the game manual), witch is mesteriously absent. OH well, my opinion is that if you liked the first 2 (not for the anoying WWII style of rush with as many infantry gunners as possible) than you'll probably like this one. I'm warning you though, after you beat the game it gets really boring.

When I first played Tiberian Sun it shocked me into disbelief. I couldn't believe how deep the gameplay was. Its voxel-based 3D gaming terrain and loads of units make it a game that can be appriciated by all. But Westwood didn't stop there. They added some of the most sophisticated Artificial Intelligence programming imaginable. The AI gameplay alone is a major reason for buying this game. It gives a challenge to amatuers as well as hardcore RTS gamers. Buckle your seatbelt and keep your hands and feet inside the tank at all times.
it's awesome

It is so much fun getting to shot those guns at people. It is also really cool that you can make your own base and surround them with lasers. My favorite things are the attack buggies because they are hard to take down and they are good scouts.
Lacking one obvious element mandatory in this type of combat

All this game needs is one thing, in my opinion: Mortars! Without them, you have to go all the way around to find a way up that ridge or that hill, to knock out those enemy soliders who have the snipers advantage. It's also prettly pointless when one of your aircraft flies in-- and you have no control over it-- and it gets wiped out by a SAM site. Other than that, not a bad game. Extremely addicting, though.
The best strategy game I have ever seen!

This is the best strategy game of the year. I agree with all of the critcs saying so. The Command and Conquer series is a great strategy forming game. The graphics would be an 8/10. The gameplay would be a 9/10. The characters are awesome. You will feel the power of GDI's Mammoth Mark II, while NOD's chemical and multi missles will leave you stunned. 38 great mission of pure fun! And after you beat the game play Skirmishes or Made Up Games by picking a terrain or making your own. This is an absolutely amazing game. Pick it up at a store, and while your at it pick up Firestorm Expansion Pack. They cost together like 15 bucks. Cheap for an awesome game.
