This game is SO great. I was a crazy gamer (playstation, computer) in high school and college. I haven't been really ADDICTED to a game since then (I'm 25 now). This game is definitely what I've been waiting for! It's so much fun, it's a little spooky, it keeps you anxious about what's going to happen next, and the graphics are beautiful! The only minor complaint I have is the controls for the battles. It's really difficult to move around without a joystick, but luckily I haven't encountered too many battles - yet.
I definitely recommend this game. You won't be disappointed - especially for the price!

If you enjoyed The Longest Journey, you can't go wrong by buying
Dreamfall. However, if you played either game, then there's no point in me trying to win you over. You would already be a fan. That's what these games do, they win you over and you become a real fan of the story and creators. You wait anxiously for the next part of the story. Give The Longest Journey and Dreamfall a try. If you love good stories and deep characters, these games are for you.
This game was made by real story tellers and artists. The voice acting is professional and they give really moving performances. The artistic direction is what you would expect from such creative and imaginative minds.

I ordered DreamFall at the end of September. It would not install so I returned it. Sometime later I received another set of CDs. They would not install.
Access to forums did not help but I noted that there were many similar complaints. The manufacturer's forum at Aspyr.com cound not diagnose the problem. They blamed it on my loaded one-year-old Dell Dimension 4700, monitor, and/or video card. My computer runs The Longest Journey and Chessmaster without a snag. If Aspyr has imposed more restrictive system requirements perhaps they should warn buyers before they buy.
It may be a good game but I will never know. I am totally fed-up with it and will probably toss it into my garbage can. I would give this game ZERO stars but "1" is the lowest allowed by Amazon's rating system.
Frustrated customer.
Buy this game!

This game has one of the greatest stories of any video game. I found the controls excellent and intuitive. I had no problems with the PC version. The graphics, voice acting and sound are fantastic. I didn't find the ending nearly as disappointing as others. I thought the story was complete in itself for a game that is meant to be the second part in a 3 part trilogy.
Highly reccomended!!!

This game was visually and mentally stunning! The story sucks your in and keeps you interested like and interactive movie where you are the actor, director and audience. This game takes you into the world of Stark and Arcadia the parallel worlds that exist in different planes of existence, but are connected some how. The main character "Zo?" travels back and forth during the game reveling more and more what the two worlds hold for all the characters.
If you are viewing this as a "Myst" type game you are mistaken. The game play is very different. So go pick up this game and immerse yourself in a unique and amazing story.
P.S. This game is also on XBOX. Go buy it now!!

Dreamfall is the best and most original story I have ever experienced and seen in my life. (I have personally played over 400 games)
What adventure games lack is a sense of danger. Dreamfall makes up for this lack of danger, with it's combat and stealth elements.
The graphics can go up to a resolution of 1900X1600 and look amazing. It may not be Oblivion, or Doom 3, but it is certainly effective in connotating the astounding athmosphere of Dreamfall, without taxing low end computer systems.
The only thing that could stop you in an adventure game is not knowing what to do next. Dreamfall's difficulty is only just easy enough, to not have you get stuck, but also just hard enough to keep your heart beating in dangerous situations.
The fighting scenes add a sense of survival, and shows that the Stark/Arcadia world isn't some fail-safe padded Themepark, safer then your own household.
The stealth and combat scenes are simplified, but effective, just like an iPod.
The dialogue options offer a different approach to each encounter, i.e. "Confrontational", "Curious" or "Apologetic"
You can also choose between a positive or a negative response, and thus decide certain aspects of the story that way.
The Animation of the game are very pleasing and plentiful. The world seems very much alive.
The strong points of Dreamfall are: Immersion, Story, Romance and Tragedy. It contains alot of mature themes, i.e. Politics and Ethics.
The story, style and lore behind this game is powerful enough to fuel a Successful TV-Series, A book series, and a real motion picture movie! Ragnar Tornquist, the creator of The Longest Journey series is a true talent and visionaire.
A really fantastic journey!

***Some spoilers, caution*** I am one of those who waited for this game since TLJ. It is not what I expected - it is unexpectedly good. I got really drawn into the story, cared about the characters. e.g. I was really curious to finally 'meet' Zoe's boyfriend when she was setting up a rendezvous on her cell phone! The story keeps going on without a beat. There are some quirks, like tricky fight scenes that don't really do much for the game, but they lend atmosphere I suppose. The feeling I got when I finally finished the game is 1)wondered why the developers left us hanging about the fate of some of the characters, and 2)I concluded that it was because they are planning a sequel, which I'm already going to be looking out for. For those of you who have played both games ***SPOILER HERE*** April can't have died. Notice the classic 'falling backward into the water, no dead body' set up. And we have to arrive at the very end - recall the scene with an aged gray-haired April by the fireside talking with a grayed Crow about the old days, in the first game. We need to get to that point in a future sequel. I think the developers did run out of time with this game, and they will continue til they finish the story. The 'totally irrelevant door' by the Fringe is supposed to be the last stop - right?
Mesmerizing: Was the original script intended to become a movie or a book?

I have no words to describe this game: it is amazing, although I felt devastated by the ending which was a huge CLIFFHANGER. After six years of wait, why does ragnar tornquist, author of the longest journey, would want to torture us? Oh well, it's good that a sequel of Dreamfall is coming pretty soon - part 2 of dreamfall will hopefully bring a satisfying conclusion to this amazing story.
Granted, the game has problems and despite the technical issues and lack of gameplay one can't simply dismiss the amazing voice acting; the perfect script; the beautiful 3-D backgrounds; the presentation of the story as well as addictiveness; and the emotional impact that beseaches gamers around the world.
So, in a nutshell, this game is about faith and how to gain back your faith. It is also about the fall of dreams and the repercusions of losing ones own dreams of becoming what dreams allow us to achieve in a possible future. Subsequently, this game also deals with corporate crimes and misuse of corporate power towards the masses; dictatorship and religious fanatism; self discovery and individualism; and the power to forgive despite emotional wounds. All of these themes are bundled up in one game: Dreamfall.

I have not even played the game! How unfair is that?
Pretty bad. What I HAVE played is the game that came before it,
"The Longest Journey". I was attracted to playing in a game that bridged
between two world, one with an emphasis upon science, one with an emphasis upon magic. Prior to this game, I had only played one or two simiar games on the original Playstation Console.
"The Longest Journey" is an appropriate title. To say that the game is tedious would be putting it mildly. The puzzles are pretty stupid, not very intuitive, and the game makes you literally run back and forth fetching items. Yes, gorgeous graphics, but after the 30th time I ran through the square, I was about to smash my computer screen. If watching paint dry is your idea of fun, if you would read the phone book for entertainment, get this game. Otherwise, pass.
