The best TMNT game ever made!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 9 / 9

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time" has always been one of my favorite Super Nintendo games. If you've ever liked the earlier TMNT games for the regular Nintendo, or TMNT 2 in the arcades, you'll definitely like "Turtles In Time." The object of the game is to eventually get to the Technodrome and defeat Shredder. There are a lot of challenging and fun levels that you'll have to get past before you even get close to Shredder. The levels range from a dinosaur level where the foot soldiers ride stampeding dinosaurs and try to run over you, to a level where you're inside a train and you have to battle a boss in the form of a crocodile, and even some fun bonus levels.

"Turtles In Time" is a great game in every way. You can defeat most of the enemies with punches, kicks, jump kicks, powerup moves, and my favorite, by throwing them at the screen. At the end of every level are some familiar bosses such as Krang, Rocksteady, and Shredder, and even some new bosses that have never been seen before in any other TMNT game. The graphics in "Turtles In Time" are impressive and colorful, the sound and music goes good with the levels, the control is top notch, and best of all, it's one of the most fun games available for the Super Nintendo.

You can play "Turtles In Time" either one player or two player, either way it's jammed with fun. The game overall isn't too easy or impossibly hard, it's perfect when it comes to the challenge. Even after you beat the game, it's still a lot of fun to start over and beat it again or play 2 player. Even after playing the game for over 5 years, I still like playing it every now and then. If you have a Super Nintendo and if you like action/adventure games or side scrolling fighting games, "Turtles In Time" is a must have!

very good, but not as good as Final Fight

This is one of the best in the "side scrolling beat 'em up" genre. I consider Final Fight and Streets Of Rage the tops in the genre, but TMNT4 gives 'em a run for their money. Great graphics, great sound (you even hear the real TMNT theme song [complete with actual singing], albeit for about 10 seconds when the title screen comes up), and great gameplay makes this a winner.

Legendary Game

I played all the turtles games on the NES and I really enjoyed Turtles 2 the most. Then this comes out. At first I didn't think I'd like this because it was a number IV, and every fourth I've seen I haven't liked very much. (Except for Mega Man X4) This was the best Turtles game ever made. It had Time Travel, which I like in games now. (Which is why I just LOVE Chrono Trigger.) It had action, and some plot. I got so addicted to this game. My brother and I go through this on EVERY game mode in under an hour. We played it so much that we mastered it. It was a great game. While not better than Mega Man X, I couldn't have asked for more. 10 levels of sheer excitement.

One of the coolest fighting games ever.

This totally brought the turtles into a whole new light, big bold graphics, no new challenge though, its the same 3D fighter that it has been since Turtles 2. The only real difference between this game and the other turtles game for regular Nintendo is there are dozens of new tricks to learn and far more enemies and varieties of enemies to fight against as once so the game mixes it up.

excellent game to play

i used to love to play with my turtle action figures. I had crates. they were so cool. Then we got in to lego then nerf then video games and now one of my favorit childhood toys is a video game. You wern't havin fun if you didn't have a turtle. This game is great. I like it alot. This game is worth it.

It's too bad Konami never released an arcade-perfect version of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game on the SNES. Actually this one isn't a perfect translation either, as it's missing some digitized voices. A playable April wouldn't have hurt either, but at least she doesn't get kidnapped.
Anywho, although the title may be (sic) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time, that's only because there were three TMNT games previously released on the original Nintendo Entertainment System (not counting Tournament Fighters). This is actually the second game released in the arcades.
Now for the actual review. The game takes you through, uh, I dunno, 15-or-so levels of repetitive non-stop action (double entendre? you decide). As usual, you get to choose between Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael (sorry, Venus, you weren't here yet). The subtitle, Turtles in Time, comes into play when you almost defeat Shredder and then are hurled back through time to 100,000,000,000,000-or-so B.C., then forward to 15??, 18??, 20??, 2???, then back to 1993 where you fight Shredder for supposedly the last time. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
