I never thought after playing Super Mario Bros. 3 on the original NES that there could be another Mario game to surpass that one. Boy, was I ever wrong! I have such great memories of when Super Mario World came out. I remember you could never play it at the local retail stores around town because 2 or 3 kids would always be standing there for 2 hours playing it. Then when I finally got my SNES that christmas of '91, when Mario World was the system's pack-in game, i was instantly hooked. The game was not much of a challenge, but I didn't care I loved it so much. Since those days I have played several other Mario titles and don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Mario 64 and other N64 Mario games, but this game just set a whole new standard for Mario games. I still play it even to this day and never get tired of it. For anyone who has never played this game, I would definitely recommend it to you if you like Mario. If not, then don't waste your time.

Easily the best Mario game ever!

When I first asked for this game, I thought it was going to be another average Mario game. To my surprise, it was the best one I've played in a long time! This game has many levels with lots of secrets and stuff. The levels may be hard but once you get to Bowser, (in my oponion) he is easier than the levels! Anyway, it's a good game and it is worth your money. Buy it. I have been playing this game ever since I got it and I beat Bowser with the help of my friend, Mike Brennan. Very addicting and worth your time!

Sweet!!

In my opinion, the SNES may be the greatest console ever, and its first game is one of the best games ever made. The bright graphics make you want to stop and look at the scenery. The peppy music sticks in your head for YEARS!!!(I have one in my mind right now, and I haven't played this in at least a year!) The new character, Yoshi, is a nice addition, he looks cool and is fun to ride. Yoshi's multi-colored bros. on the secret "Star Road" levels, each with their own abilities, are fun, too.
Probably the best thing about this game is its infinite replay value. It's not that challenging to begin with, but even after beating it 20 times over 10 years, I could still play it again, enjoying every minute. Even if I breeze right through the levels, it's like watching your favorite old movie; just watching yourself play it is fun!
If you own an SNES, you have to own this game. No question. Anyone can have fun with this game-my mom loves it! If you already own it, play it and treasure it. If you don't, get it as soon as possible!!!

Old and simple, but great gameplay!

Easily one of the best titles for the SNES, Super Mario World is a classic Mario side-scroller filled with fun. The controls are nice, and the levels are numerous and varied enough to make the game entertaining the whole way through. A must-have if you have an SNES. Even once all of the secrets are found and Bowser is beaten, the game still has a lasting appeal.

Cons:
a few spots that are overly difficult
plenty of levels, but still not enough

Truly a great game

When I saw that they still sell this game, I was surprised, because I thought they didn't sell it anymore because it's so old. Anyway, I love this game! I've been playing it since I was really young (...) It is so amusing, and fun. I got into the other Mario world. There are actually two worlds, but the other one is basically the same. Just a few things look different. Like, the koopas are in a mask that looks like Mario.

(...) I beat the game, like 20 times, but I still play it. (...) Super Mario World is so fun, you'd probably get addicted to it if you bought it. And you should buy it, because, trust me, it's worth it. (...) It's so colorful, and neat. Some things in it are humorous, like the koopas disguising themselves as Mario. Also, how cute Yoshi is. You don't even have to be a certain age to play. It's easy to learn how to operate the controls. You should try it, if you ever got the chance. Because this is truly a great game!

Great game

When the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES for short) first came out in the early 90's, it had a great lineup of launch titles to easily make it the new best seller. Super Mario World was the first, and probably the best of these launch titles for the SNES.

Just like Mario and Luigi did for the Super Mario Brothers titles on the NES, they are still collecting tons of gold coins, Bowser is still their biggest enemy, and the Princess is waiting to be rescued once again. Only this time around, their journey along the way to Bowser and the Princess will be a bit different.

There are many new experiences to be held in Super Mario World. This is the game where the Mario clan first meets and uses Yoshi, the worlds and levels are bigger than ever, and the Mario brothers even have new abilities such as new flying techniques.

Super Mario World is more like Super Mario Brothers 3 than any of the previous Mario adventures. You can play by yourself in a one-player game, or with a friend in a two-player game at any time. You can guide either Mario or Luigi through the 7 different world maps that are full of different kinds of memorable levels.

Among these levels are haunted ghost houses, underwater environments, underground stages, a secret "Star Road," various other secret stages, a castle (one in each world) that houses the world's main Koopa boss, and so much more.

For the time, Super Mario World had spectacular graphics, great sounds and music, top-notch control, and overflowing replay value and fun. It's easy for any player of any age to find out what needs to be done once they start playing this 2D action/adventure. All you really have to do is get past all the interesting enemies and get to the end of all the levels.

All in all, Super Mario World is one of the best video games ever made, and it always will be! It's the game that started the Super Nintendo on the right foot, and now, it's a major classic. I wish they still made video games like this.

If you're a fan of action/adventure games, platformers, or the classic 2D side scrollers (which I miss more than anything in today's games), Super Mario World is a definite must have!!
