If you have this in your hands in a store drop it. Definately not worth the money. Maybe if it was 20 dollars but not 60. The original sega versions are done alot better and way more fun.
RENT this game, don't buy!!!!

WOW!
I didn't know that someone could take such a great idea and turn it into the worst game in a great franchise. The reviews for this game were right on the money. I thought people didn't like it and were trashing it because it was Sonic. I'm so glad I didn't buy this like I wanted to. This game could have been a lot of fun, expect you have to retrain yourself on its god awful play control.
Loading times: The loading times on this game are awful beyond belief. This game loads more then you get to play it. What's up with that? You stop and talk to someone for like five seconds and then the game goes to a loading screen for like 30-45 sec. and then back to the person talking for like 5 sec. and then back to a loading screen. WTF!?!?!?! The game will even pause at points in the game so it can load right in the middle of you doing something.
Camera Angles are so bad that you can't even play the game in parts of it. And you die because of it, not because someone kills you. This game has this worst camera setup out of all the games I have ever played.
Game Play: [...], [...], sometimes is really hard to control sonic at higher running speeds. And forget about it at full blast speeds.
Graphics: A+++ this is the only thing that's good about this game. The graphics are really beautiful at times and really shows you want next gen system have to offer.
How TeamSonic or what ever their called thought this was a good game was sadly mistaken. Was this game not tested before they started selling it? I'm sure thats the case and they rushed it to the 360 before christmas so they could make some money off of this and then ported the same [...] to the PS3.
This is a rental for hard core sonic fans only. Not a buy. anyone else, don't waste your time or money. Sonic on dreamcast was fun, but this is nothing like that.
Promising , but painfully falls short

I am a huge Sonic fan and I was eagerly anticipating this release on the X Box 360. I went out and bought it the very first day and couldn't wait to experience it.
After about 3 hours of playing the game, I have to admit that I am disappointed.
The graphics on the individual stages are breathtaking and Sonic's speed will blow you away at times. Also you have the option of playing with characters like Silver and Shadow the Hedgehog as you progress throughout the game ; which are both cool characters with awesome attacks and powers.
I have to admit that the gamely in itself is addicting and fun but goofy camera angles, horrendous load times, and corny side quests ruined the experience for me .Also the progression of the stages and storyline is very poor, scattered , and just pointless at times. Sega has had more than enough time to correct these problems but chose to ignore them. If you are a huge Sonic fan, I think it's worth the purchase, if not just stick to a rental. Either way prepare to be disappointed.
Do not trust the five star reviews. Sonic isn't good anymore.

Why are so many people singing this game's praises? I have it and it's the worst Sonic game yet. Sure, it looks pretty, but that's about all it has to offer. The controls are unresponsive and twitchy. Get used to falling off ledges to your death. You'll do it a lot. This game is riddled with glitchy gameplay. The camera positions itself so you can't see where you're going sometimes, and if you move it, when you move it resets itself. If you get this for your child/boyfriend/husband, all they will experience is frustration. No time went into testing this game and all the funds were spent on visuals rather than programming. This game was literally rushed to market unfinished.

The decline of Sonic Team since the death of the Dreamcast has been depressing. After a string of bad ports, uninspired portable games, and half-baked 3D platformers, I was hoping Sonic Team would get their main franchise back together with this title. I was wrong.
Sonic the Hedgehog for either the 360 or PS3 isn't worth $60. For one, the controls and camera have not been improved. Even though you can rotate and center the camera now, your view of the action is still in the hands of the computer. Five years since Sonic Adventure 2 and they haven't made any enhancement to the controls? Inexcusable.
But the strength of the Sonic franchise has always lied in the levels, and this game even manages to fail in that regard. Sprinting about as Sonic the Hedgehog could be fun if it weren't for the fact that every stage is saturated with enemies, missiles, and bottomless pits. Silver, the new character, has some fun psychic abilities that are marred by control issues and bugs. When compounded with the ridiculous amount of bullets and missiles he has to contend with in his levels, Silver's part of the game seems to deliver more frustration than entertainment. Shadow comes closest to being enjoyable, but his emphasis on combat and vehicle riding detract from the speed that made him such a great character in Sonic Adventure 2.
The graphics are nice, I guess, but there are certainly games on the 360 that look much better and deliver higher quality gameplay. Save your $60 for titles like Gears of War or Oblivion, and if you *must* play Sonic, wait until it goes Platinum. It's depressing to have to say this, because there was once a time when buying a new Sonic game was pretty much a no-brainer; but that era is over. This franchise has fallen from grace, and I doubt it will be recovering any time soon.
On the plus side, at least this game isn't Sonic Genesis.
Not the good old Sonic!

I was a huge Sonic fan back when I had a Genesis. I havent played much Sonic in between, but I have a Xbox 360 and thought this game would be fun and nostalgic. The graphics are great and the cut scenes are entertaining, but overall this game is a huge dissapointment. I found myself frustrated and angry to say the least at the lack of save options, glitchy gameplay and unbearable load times. Repeating entire stretches of levels over and over becuase I cant save after one level- I have to wait until I complete 3! Well that just sucks the fun out of it. I think I need anger management classes after playing this. I've found plenty of challenging and entertaining videogames for my 360, and this is NOT one of them!
Worst Sonic game EVER

Originally when Shadow came, my hatred of the franchise was of the replacement actors who badly dubbed Sonic X, there was nothing else I hated then that in Shadow, Riders and Rush which got me into getting Japanese versions only, however after playing THIS horrid thing, not even the origninal cast could make this game better.
This game has NOTHING good about it. the controls are so messed up that it's more easy to die unexpectedly then it is just to get hit. the camera is at it's worst in this game making it impossible to finish a level properly. HUGE amount of glitches that ruin the enjoyment. Poor level design that make this completely frusterating, and Sonic seems to move slower then he did in past games.
I would trust game reviewers when they say a game is bad, especially now, I have NEVER hated ANY Sonic game from the start until I play this.

this would have been a great game but there were too many problems.
1. The music was not done by Jun Senoue and Crush 40.
2. Sonic homing attack was too slow.
3. Tails attacks were stupid throwing rings at an enemy.
4. Space was wasted with town levels and extra missions.
5. Not enough levels.
6. Camera angles on bosses were bad.
7. The bosses are boring.
8. The levels divided in sections and taking too long to load.
Sega needs to make a game like sonic heroes that is fast and goes from level to level with no towns. They need to eliminate the extra missions and just make a game with about 20 levels where all you do is go from the beginning to the end like on genesis and face a boss every couple of levels.
I am a huge sonic fan!!

If you are a sonic fan than this game will not disapoint you. This is one of my favorite Sonic games,my other favorites are sonic and the secret rings, sonic rivals, and sonic rush.I like this game because of the storyline (actually I like the other games I mentioned before because of their storylines). =) In this game, a lot of the familiar characters are back(sonic, tails, knuckles, amy, shadow, rouge, blaze, and eggman. This game also introduces some new characters(princess elise, silver the hegdehog, mephiles the dark, and iblis' "flames of disaster".This game has a great storyline(I would tell you what happens but I will let you get game and learn the story yourself). =) Anyway, buy this game or suffer the consequences of missing out on a great game!! Buy it for cryin' out loud!
My daughter loves it!
