Yuri's Revenge is a great sequel!!

A great game counterpart to Red Alert 2. This takes off right after ra2, having the inferior seeming Allied forces win the war. (Sigh.) However, Yuri has defected from the Soviet Union, building his own excellent army to play in skirmish or internet. You can command all armies in the most fun gameplay of them all, skirmish. New units have been acquired by the Allies and Soviets, to fight Yuri's diabolical army. Anyway, Soviets are making a comeback with all their units, with several marvelous brand new ones. The cool Siege Chopper has a machine gun to dispatch allies or yuris infantry forces, and an artillery cannon, (oh yeah!) to shoot the crap out of the allied structures and massacre their infantry, even the anti air guardian GIs will go down right away to these big guns. Attacking a Yuri base with these requires more caution, as mind controlling units and buildings can wreck a small force. Just place them away from Psychic Towers and fire away! The Soviet hero unit, Boris, is better than Tanya, as his range and ease of use is greater. Place a laser designator on any building, and some MIGs will demolish the structure with their missiles. The Industrial Plant reduces the build time of their powerful vehicle force. Yuri's army is quite fun to command, as his units are destructive and great to use. His miners are pretty good, but the slaves are extremely low on health, so guard them carefully. His Iniatiates are the best basic infantry, and are very dangerous when garrisoned in buildings. His Yuri Clones and Prime can fry infantry, (civilians) and control them. Primes can take over most of the armies buildings. The Virus sniper kills infantry with a toxic residue. His brutes are hulks that can crush tanks and infantry that stand in his path. His vehicles include one similar to the Grizzly and Rhino, the Lasher, and a Gatling Tank that has spinning barrels that can tear apart army men. Another addition to his mind control technology is the mastermind, a vehicle able to control 3 units at a time. (ONLY THREE PER DEVICE!!) Magnetrons can fry buildings and drag vehicles in the air with a magnetic beam, which won't effect infantry. His structures and Naval Yard are neary identical to the three armies ones, except the Psychic Tower can mind control units, and Gatling Cannons are emplaced anti infantry guns. Yuri's Naval Yard produces Boomer missile launchers like Dreadnaughts, and torpedoes like Attack Subs. His superweapons are the Genetic Mutator and the Dominator. Mutators turn any infantry into Brutes, while the Dominator controls and destroys everything in a wide radius. The allies are still here, and have mind control immune vehicles, (don't be TOO afraid of them) which are Robot Tanks with weak armor, and the massive Battle Fortress. 5 or so deployed grouped up Siege Choppers and some Lasher Tanks are enough to destroy a single Fortress, and a Yuri Clone can take one over with his mind. The way to build Robot Tanks for allies is to build a Robot Control Centre.
Yuri's Revenge has some gameplay changes. Team Alliance has maps designed for close battle with teams.
There are some neutral units on some maps. Civilians can carry very weak pistols, and automobiles are good to mind control and scout with.
If you read this review, just play this COOL GAME!!

This game rocks! Be careful when you put the game on hard, up till the 4th or 5th level, you need to be on your toes cause the computers hittin' you from every which way! They finally made the computer a worthy opponent to play. It puts even some veteran players to shame.(Except me) BUY THIS GAME! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Yuri's Revenge is one of the best expansion pack I've ever purchased. On Red Alert 2, the original game, I play multiplayer a lot. With Yuri's Revenge, multiplayer is a ton more exciting. There are new units asnd structures you can use defeat other players. If you're not able to beat the co-op missoins you can go on-line and download trainers. Overall I think this game is the game to buy.

Good in some ways, cheesy in others

Yuri's Revenge is the expansion pack for Red Alert 2. Red Alert 2 was a good game, where you needed to build your army not only to maximum effeciancy, but also as fast as possible. Yuri's Revenge (YR) inherits many of Red Alert 2's (RA2) many strengths and many weaknesses.

The story is now almost totally mind control this, mind control that. RA2 had many mind control elements in it, but it wasn't the focus of the game's story.

It all starts when Yuri, the former mind-controlling psychic Soviet commander, sets up a strange invention called a Psychic Dominator on Alcatraz Island. Along with two other devices in Antartica and Egypt it can mind control all the world. This is found out by Allied intelligence, and an air strike is sent to blow it up. The air strike only succeeds in shutting off power for the device. The other two activate and mind control 2/3 of the world. To prevent this disaster from ever happening, the US army and the remnants of the Soviet army bot travel back in time using a top-secret time machine.

There are 14 missions, 7 for the Allies and 7 for the Soviets. Most of them aren't terribly harder than any of the RA2 ones. Most of them are something like "Yuri has mind controlled [insert city here]. Destroy his secret base!" You can play as Yuri's strange, mind-controlled army too, but there are no missions for him.

One of the things I dislike about this expansion pack is that it's well...too jokey. If I want some laughs I'll watch a comedy movie or play Worms. In one mission (Allied #2) you get to command 3 movie stars if you advance to certain locations. Oh, come on! And the jokes are carried out cheesily, too. This sort of gets in the way of the military feel that C&C is supposed to have.

There are four new Allied units (Guardian G.I., SEAL, Robot Tank, Battle Fortress) and one new Allied structure (Robot Control Center). The SEAL was in the original RA2, also, but you couldn't build him in multiplayer. Or something like that.

There are three new Soviet units (Boris, Spy Plane, Siege Chopper) and two structures (Battle Bunker, Insustrial Planet). Boris is the new Soviet "hero unit," like Tanya is for the Allies, because Yuri can't be one for the Soviets anymore.

In all, there are seven new units and three new structures, plus Yuri's army. Yuri's army is all about mind control, genetic mutation, cloning, and (believe it or not) magnetism. It's almost impossible to use spies on him, since they'll get mind controlled.

The usual "T" rating was given to this game for "violence." That's what it says on the insignia. There is no blood, gore, or bodies in this game, but people do get killed.

Great addition to a true classic

This game is very fun, and a necessary addition to anyone's game library. The storyline got a little whacky, but that is part of the charm. I like the new units that were added, and the ability to mix Allied and Soviet tech in some of the later missions.

Quite frankly, awe inspiring

Some of you out there who love playing Red Alert 2 will remember one of the most fun, if expensive, tactics there was: the Yuri/Apoc crawl. Congratulations, Yuri now has his own side, costs half as much, there's an upgraded version that MCs buildings, and there are several esoteric new units to throw in. Allied Robot Tanks are immune to Yuri's MC-ing tricks, but Yuri's Gatling tanks can rip them apart. Soviets have a new mobile artillery unit, (Seige Chopper, watch out for the AA) have a new hero, Boris.... WELL WHY ARE YOU STILL READING! BUY IT ALREADY!

Add-on to the Best Game!

This is one of the better add-ons I have played. I would get this if you own Red Alert 2, like Rts games, and or like military games. It's very well put together and is always fun. The one thing that gets me is the loading times, they take forever! I still play it and enjoy it, but still. If you are a Red Alert nut get this asap. It's great!

Ya Gotta get it!

If you enjoyed R/A 2, the complexity of units and their application within this expansion pack offer a great challenge.
After you play the scenarios, give a try at using Yuri's troops and equipment. Awsome interactivity ! ! !

Best of Westwood Games

It has some draw backs like the loading time but other then that, it's the best game so far in my opinon. Excellent grapics and great game play makes this game worth the wait. Also, there are endless stageries at your finger tip to test.

Unlimited Fun

Yuri's Revenge was probably the best Westwood game ever. The missions are great and yet challenging, but I personally like the multiplayer best. You choose between the Allies, Soviets and Yuri. For those of you who don't know each country has it's own army. Even though Yuri has a small range of units, his army still is equal to the other sides. In additionto the Tech. structures in Red Alert 2, there are also a few new ones: the machine shop to heal your tanks, civillian power plants to keep your power up, and a revised hospital that has the same function as the machine shop but heals infantry. Overall, Yuri's Revenge is a must-have. And one more thing, if you get bored of the maps
you can go to [website] and download maps.
