I originally bought the game for the Halo 3 beta and didn't really look into playing Crackdown much. A friend on XBOX live told me to try it out and to my suprise the game was actually good. It is quite easy to reach the maximum skill level, but it takes time.
I really ejoyed being able to jump building to building and lifting huge objects. The one thing that could have made the game better would be more vehicles. Yes I know you can buy some online, but what a waste of money. They could have included a helicopter or a motor cycle in the original game.
If you ask me, is the game worth $60 bucks, I will say no, but 30 to 40 dollars is a good price. Thats how much I got it for. Hopefully if there is a sequal there will be some new vehicles, and maybe a way to walk into every building.
its good

If you're into sandbox shootings you'll love it.
If not, don't waste your money.
This is not a story based game but more of a action, quasi-RPG, 3rd person shooter with a complete sense of exploration.
It's not GTA so don't expect a GTA. In my opinion it's more than a GTA.
The videos online don't do it justice, it could be an easy rental rather than a 55 dollar + purchase. It only took me 6 hours to complete but the online replay is fun so i'll keep it.
Mindless, Enjoyable Fun

First, I love the look of this game; The psuedo-animation graphics work well for this cartoonish, highly over-the-top sandbox mish-mash. This reminded me of 4 games: Mercenaries, GTA, Total Overdose(there is even one part where a song from TO is playing from a club while you take out the bad guys...)and a little The Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. While it takes awhile for the fun to really kick in(like after you have maxed out your skills a little bit...), there is no denying the simple entertainment factor here. The chaos you can cause is at times nothing short of amazing; the firefights can be intense, and many of the scenarios do require some thought and tactical planning in order to resolve them. It's tough, but just tough enough. There are some nice weapons, vehicles, and enemy variation; There are some minor control issues, but for the most part operates quite smoothly; There are def. some map and objecvtive issues, as they are not always as clear as they should be...But soon you'll forget all about those minor issues as you plug along, blowing the **** out of stuff, killing scores of bad guys, and most importantly, actually having FUN. Nothing too original here in concept, but the presentation and overall enjoyable gameplay make 'Crackdown' something worth playing!

Was truly surprised by this one, didn't expect it to be this good. I would definitely recommend this game to all my friends.

I'll keep this review short and to the point. The gameplay, presentation, and graphics are solid as a rock. The abilities are a lot of fun and the level design is some of the best I've seen in years. Each "boss" section is unique, varied, and fun and the combat (and explosions!) are utterly satisfying. The driving is the weakest aspect of this game but I found that I never used cars anyway (driving improves immensely as you build up your driving skill).
As far as pure fun, no other GTA-like game can compare. Collecting the orbs is addictive and the game as a whole has excellent replayability. Try going through the game from the beginning without collecting agility orbs, for example. Or try to limit your use of firearms and focus more on hurling objects and kicking people off cliffs.
The further I got into the game the more I admired the smart game design and the polish/little details the developers added to the game. Trust me, I dismissed this game from the start as yet another GTA clone, but once I gave it a chance (the demo doesn't do the game justice) I found that it is much more than that.
Surprised this wasn't garbage

Got this for the Halo beta... and of course WAS surprised and pissed to find out the beta isn't until September, but for 3 weeks. Thanks MS, screwed everyone again. And since H3 is sort of unreal tournament like, and only has 3 maps ot play, I've been playing a lot of Crackdown, and it's pretty good.
Ok, Crackdown. This is sort of a meld of Just Cause and GTA... better driving than JC, not as good natural environment, or crazy stunt action. But the ability to increase skills (jumping height, damage, and strength to Hulk levels) is pretty fun... I'd like to see them make a superhero game like this, where you'd battle mano a mano with other heros, with destructive environments. Very impressive detailed architecture, lighting, and although the city is relatively small, it was done very well. A city on the size of Just Cause's islands, and you'd have months of gameplay. This is can be finished in about a day, 3 sectors, 7 bosses each. My only annoyance was some AI issues... citizens would commit suicide on your vehicles, and the cops would suddenly start hunting you... it was also unclear if the "bad kharma" of killing citizens was wiped clean after restarting, or your skills got frozen after killing too many. Oh, and the limpbody deathroll after being grenaded or rocketed was annoying... you lie prone as you are tagged over and over until death. This could have used Just Cause's environment a bit for the underwater swimming, and some sort of airborn ability would have been nice (blimps, choppers)... but that said, it ranks up with one of the better games I've gotten for the 360.
Way better than GTA

To me this game is better than GTA. Granted i barely have ever played this game but it is amazing. And when you have live an update for the game is avaliable and makes the game a lot better. I like how your guy can jump across streets and you can scale up buildings. This game also has the halo 3 beta demo which is great but the real reason to get this game is because it is a lot of fun.
