Pretty Graphics, Shame About the Characters

This game has received some pretty terrible reviews elsewhere, and on the whole I'd have to agree with them. Graphically the game is very pretty - well done movie sequences, very crisp and colorful backgrounds, smooth, fast motion, etc. The story is OK, if rather linear and limited. The game engine is not too bad, although again limiting. But what really kills this game is the personalities of the characters. After you've been subjected to the umpteenth replay of some video sequence where the utterly obnoxious lead characters try desperately to outdo each other in seeing who can be the most irritating, you really begin to hope that they will all shortly die horrible deaths at the hands of the next monster they face. Unfortunately this is rather unlikely since on the whole the game is pretty easy to complete. Save this one for rental: you'll finish it in a couple of days. Or get something else - Summoner, while flawed, is a much more engrossing RPG game. There's even FF-9 if you can face turning the clock back to PS-1 technology.

This game bites the big one. You don't do any interacting whatsoever. Basically you just run around and fight a monster or two here and there. The cut scenes and acting is horrible. Don't even bother renting this one. OUCH!!! I can't express that enough. I played it the day I got it and haven't touched it since.

This game is quite possibly the stupidest game I have ever played. From the first (and ONLY) time I played it, it got on my nerves. The voice acting is terrible and really annoying. In the very beginning on the boat, you walk into a room and the girl whines "Ohh NOOOO, my jeans are RUINED!" That did it for me, I just snapped the game off right there. The graphics are bad for the PS2, and the way the characters move is all jerky and repetative. They wave their arms when they talk and then kinda forget to stop waving them after they finally shut up. The combat system not very good, you just stand in one place and idly blast enemies with badly-animated spells. If you see this one on the shelf, don't even give it a second glance, just move on and get something else. ANYTHING can be better than this.

This game is awesome! Although the game was a little rushed (there were some glitches in the game) it has a great storyline. This game has three different jouneys to take and it is great. The boses aren't impossible and that makes it kind of fun. This game is a good RPG game and anyone who likes RPG's should at least rent it. Orpen has many powerful spells and this game has a few hard puzzles.

Orpen: Scion of Sorcery I think is a very good game. The game is great in its graphics(I really liked the Anime style), they really bring out the games felling. One other thing that I like was the sound and music, it was good, but not great,although its not as good as some other RPG's, it's still good, and the music is pretty catchy. There was one thing that I really disliked that was that Orphen:Scion of Sorcery was kind of short,(well for me)only 40 hours to complete the whole game! Well overall it's quite a game, good graphics and great music. It being kind of short is why I give it 4 stars.

This is a ok game, not the worst game I've played, but certainly not even near the best. The graphics are not very good, but acceptably so. Gameplay is average, and it may take a while to get used to, but it's not hard to get the hang of. There's enough story to keep you going, and different storylines to boot, so replay value is sorta a little above average. Music's ok, nothing special, and sound effects are ok, too.
This is a pretty average game overall, so I recommend renting this game first before you consider buying it.
Some great RPGs I recommend to just about anybody include the Final Fantasy series, Grandia 2, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean 2, Jade Cocoon 2, and Legend of Legaia, to name a few of my good ones.

Awful.... Awful awful mess. No levelling. Ratchet and clank has more character development. Beaten in your own genre by an action game....sad. Battle system is as follows : Hold x for 3 seconds. Hold [] until enemy attacks Hold x again.
graphics - 2/10 (only because of excellent anime scenes)

Really, there are better RPG's on ps1..... FF7 + FF8 for example AND they have better graphics.
It is so bad I took it back to the video store and asked for a refund. Don't accept it if it's FREE.

This one is a severely damaged poop. Kinda like one of those rock hard poo rockets that gets stuck in the launcher and won't come out. The head pops out, but the rest is still stuck in there, that's about the gist of this Poo-filled adventure. Scion of Poop, Sh*tMaster is my new tittle. Poo-filled diasaster!

Ok folks two words DONT BUY!! This game is awful, so bad infact I have only played it once. Now I know you saw the rest of these reviews and sure your seeing the ones with more than one star... those people have never seen a game before, and if they have it was ECW Rulez for the dreamcast and that one might even be funner to play. Point being DO NOT BUY THIS GAME spend your money on SSX or ATV Offraod Fury, if your hard pressed for an RPG get Evergrace or wait for FFX.

I rented this game thinking that it would be a great one but, guess what? it isn't.

It focuses a lot on the story. A bad thing about this game is that if you do not understand english or if you can't make the TV make any sound you will understand nothing about the game story. You can't read what the characters ar saying, you can just hear it.

You can save the game only in determinated points and sometimes it takes too long before you can save again.

The fights are one of the things I most disliked about this game. While in a battle, you're standing still and you can't move. You can just attak or shield yourself. There are a lot of monsters attaking you at once and you get killed too easy. There is only one attak that is really effective but it's still to hard. Once you're killed your game is over and you have to load the previous saved game and start over from your last save. If you won some difficult battles before you got killed and you couldn't save the game after that, you have to win them again. Also you have to go trough some places over and over or watch the same story over and over again if you weren't able to save.

You collect some items to attract some monsters or to heal yourself but you actually can't use them during a battle.

It also is like Pokemon in some way: you have different attacks types (electric, fire, etc.) that are good against some types of monsters.

I really don't recomend this game but if you don't believe me, rent it. You'll see what I'm telling you.
