I do not know what all of you guys are complaining about, but I enjoyed this game. I have not finished with the third destiny yet, but I am almost finished. I bet that the reason that all of you are complaining is that you never REALLY finished the game. If you enjoy this game I know that you will like Sommoner as well. I thought that this game had a lot of good things going for it. There is also strategy in it because you have to use strategy to fight the really big monsters or you wouldn't get past them. My one complaint is that you need more save points that is why I gave it four stars. Sometimes if I got killed during a fight it took me ten minutes to get back to the same point until I figured out that you could restart the battle agian. I hope that any of you who are planning on buying this find this review helpful.

.... personally the only problem I found with this game is its length. I think this game was originally intended toward the audience of people who have seen the series, and wanted a little something more.
It's nice to have a little change from the typical RPG - Not have to build up one or more characters is an attraction to this game.
And what's this about the characters being annoying? Cleo and Magnus are SUPPOSED to be annoying! That's the whole point of their characters! It's why Orphen's always so [angry] with them...
I think if you've seen the Anime series, you'll probably enjoy the game. ....
What a GREAT idea for a video game!!

. . . If it weren't already a MOVIE for PS2. . .
And unfortunatley, that's almost what ORPHEN becomes; a movie. With little actual gameplay and loads of Anime-esque pre-rendered videos, ORPHEN really doesn't give you much to do. Sure, there's running around with bizarre camera angles looking into these little treasure chests that seem to be absolutely flippin' everywhere, and then there's always the "Stop the movie whilst we fight a monster without any explaination!" that seems to happen just often enough to keep you from losing your mind from boredom. . .
On the up side, the animations are great and the characters (though eerily "Harry Potter"esque) are interesting enough that you might not mind if this were a real movie that you just paid ... for instead of a video game that won't let you do anything. . .
The colors are vivid and the camera work (at times) is almost award winning. I said almost. To be honest with you, I'd probably have given this game an additional star if, after saving and dying, you could skip all the superfluous movie bits and get back to actually playing the ever lovin' GAME!!
Borrow a copy from a friend then decide if you have the time to spend on it once you pony up the cash for your own. . . I've been a little dissapointed with what I've seen for the PS2 so far. ...I want more than just slightly revved up PS1 games. Don't get me wrong, I've really liked several of the games that I've played, but they're just not up to the hype yet. . .
A POOR EXCUSE FOR A RPG!

This is by far the WORST role playing game I've ever played! The Battle systum (STINKS)! You have 3 buttons wich you equip weapons to, every button executes that weapon, but you can't move and the voice programing gets anoying! And the voice acting is VERY poorly acted! There is NOT one message you read in this game! It is all the charecters voices, so those of you who have no volume, are scrwed!
And the story line, HA! The worst! It seems like a 4 year old worte it who knew "cool words" like "damn" and "hell" it is very sad! It is so corney you will die laughing!(actually, thats the best thing about it!)And the game play hours stink! And so does the ending! The graphics are good, but thats it! It is above all boring! oh! There are some cartoon clips that arn't SO BAD.And you have absolutely no options on where to go or secret places! You just go straight through the story line on what you're supposed to do!
Do your self a BIG favor! Don't buy this game, here is my over-all raitings-
(1-5 stars)

Okay, this game was on my 'to buy' list but I rented it first, and to say in short, the characters bug the heck out of me.
The yelling, whining & snottyness of the sister and brother are way to much. And the main char isn't much better.
The way the battle is set, it is hard to figure out what your attacking and how.
The camrea angles are really bad too.
The only thing I liked in the game where the anime movie shorts and at times the music.
annoying little game

the attemt to make the game exciting by putting a lot of stupid puzzles makes this game a not very fun game at all. the battle system is alright and i like the anime sequences that take place. its rather annoying when you get trhough little puzzles, maze like areas that take you ages to figure out. Im used to the experience points and equiping weapons you bought or forged, since its in most other RPGs that ive played. also the fact that you cant skip movies makes it annoying when you die after watching a long movie because you have to watch it again.
Not Much Good Here

The game is one of the worst games I have ever played. The "movie" segments are too long and you cannot skip them. The game requires no thinking. Mostly there is only one path to take and half the time the other characters tell you exactly what to do. All of the "challenges" are cheap rip-offs from Tomb Raider. Poor RPG, Poor Adventure Game, Poor attempt at anything.
I wish I hadn't bought this game.

I should have remembered that doing game research before buying usually makes me a happier customer. While the idea of this game seems like it would be cool, the actual game play is really weak. I think I have tried playing it twice. The voices are really bad, and the movements of the characters are painful to watch. This game is awful and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

This game gives me doubts about sony's plans for RPG's. I could barely last this game, and very suprised I played it as long as I did. Every aspect of the game was a nightmare; The vision blurr effect was WAY overused, the voice actors were bad, and the sound effects got to me. After hearing the phrase "Hand Of Pyro" for the 200th time, I knew I was in trouble. I would rather be tied to chair and forced to listen fingernails on a chalkbord with state of the art amps and speakers, then hear "Hand of Pyro" again. Were the developers deaf? DO they seriously think anyone will be able to hear that phrase throughout the game? I also found that the graphics reminded me of a first generation N64 game: blocky and tons of pop-up. THIS IS THE PS2, RIGHT??? State of the art, Brand new? Not from the looks of it. Every now and then, I would see my character's arm pop in the air, and then down back and connect with the body. SHouldn't this have been caught during testing, so the gamers wouldn't hae to go through with it? I beg of you not to play this game. DO not touch it. Do not look at it: Not even the name. Go get DOA2 or some other game, PLEASE!
This game is annoying...

Wow.. I waited.. and waited.. and waited in the Wal-Mart for 6 hours for my PS2.. grabbed the coolest looking game (Orphen).. zipped home, popped it in and..... DISAPPOINTED! This game was clearly rushed to be out at launch. The graphics leave a lot to be desired, and listening to all the conversation is incredibly annoying. I mean, youre like, SHUT UP ALREADY and theres no button to push to get past it. The battles are incredibly easy.. and the bosses dont look very impressive. I dont like how you have to stand still during the battles either.. I liken this game to a bad rip off of Vagrant Story, 3d accelerated. The graphics are boxy and the textures are.. repetitive.. its like a Playstation game except clearer, like putting in a pair of contacts. The story is ok though.. and I haven't gotten that far into it yet, but this game is a definite RENT BEFORE YOU BUY kind of thing..
