Tremendous

Don't be put off by the lengthy cutscenes! Although you'll find your hands idle for forty-minutes-and-more intervals, the cinematography in this game is gorgeous and well worth the wait. The music is not as good as in Chrono Cross -- none of it really stands out, but enjoyable nonetheless. Gameplay and battling is typical of RPG fantasies. An interesting battle feature is Boosting; pay attention to it in the tutorials. The plot is involved and unfolds slowly. What really earns this game points is the excellent characterization. The character development is subtle and realistic and you'll find yourself becoming interested in characters that, at first, seemed flat and predictable. Their respective histories aren't the only things that add depth to these characters; their true personalities are slowly revealed and changed by the stressfulness of their situation, making them seem very human. The transformations of KOS-MOS and Shion are especially realistic. Xenosaga relies so heavily on its cutscenes that it was necessary for it to have the elements of a good movie or novel: either an engaging plot or some excellent character development. Luckily, Xenosaga managed to do both and still maintain a classic video game feel.

This game takes RPG to the next level. Even though it's rated T, it has Bood and Gore. This is the only T rated game I've ever seen that has so much Blood. you take on the role of Chef Uzaki (a.k.a. Shona or something like that), and battle the Gnosis alongside KOS-MOS, a... robot thing, created by whatever company thing made her (I think it's called Ephilar, or something like that). Did I mention that, while all this is happening, you're in the year 4000 something? well, that's all I can tell you, I've only been playing for a half an hour.

Yes, this is the best game I ever played.
The battles are a little too long and hard, but that's not problem I think. :)
My favorite character is chaos (yes, small c). He has so nice voice and he's so good (and he's an angel?).
And I don't think it has too many movie inside. It's just perfect. :)

I'm not even a gamer, and this one rocks!

Seriously, I'm neither a big fan of RPG's or of games in
general, but I find this one to be very entertaining. My
veteran gaming friends have also found it to be terrific and
challenging. The game is amazingly deep, with a number
of side quests, and optional bosses. There are a staggering
number of options to the way you develop your party, and
the story line is terrific.
The game does take a serious time investment, on the part
of the dedicated player. The creators estimate 80 hours
of game play, and I believe that to be entirely possible.
If you hurried through the game, never pursuing any of the
side quests, or optional stuff, then you MIGHT finish in
less time.
The cut scenes are beautiful, but they are quite lengthy.
I would also argue that save points are too few and
far between, forcing you to play for quite a while
between them.
The game is just amazing. It is very time consuming,
but if you have that time, it is well worth it. Oh, did
I mention that the battle segments are all done through
turn-based play? If you are looking for frantic action,
this is not the game for you. If you have the patience
to wait for a great story to unfold, then pick it up used
for under $20.00

Too long, too boring, not enough action

OOO MY GOD YOU GET TO RUN AROUND AND WATCH THESE CUTSCENES THAT MAKE THE GAME MORE OF A DVD THAN A GAME! Seriously though. I got $150 for my b-day and I wasted $50 of it on this...this...yeah. Its booring as HELL! Please, people, DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE BY BUYING THIS GAME!
