BeST SkateBoarding Game EVER !

I first played the Tony Hawk Pro Skater Demo and I thought it was fake looking and it was hard to do tricks and I got bored of it very quickly you only got 2 minutes to play and then it started over. in this game Demo you had a chance to learn the Moves. I Played the Demo for Thrasher Skate and Destroy and it was easier to do Tricks and the way that the skateboarders moved and did tricks Like a 360 flip looked more Realistic. In Tony Hawk proskater the 360 flip looks like a 180 kickflip, What is That? This game is more real and you could do cooler tricks in this game and Better combos of tricks than you could do in Tony hawk. Today I finally got this game and it is 100 times better than the demo version of Thrasher. If your looking for a Real skateboarding game with a cool oldschool Hip-hip soundtrack: Run DMC,Planit Rock, tribe,EPMD,GangSTARR, and more. 12 different places to skate with tons of secret skate spots : Venice Beach,EMB, LA court house,China Banks, and More. Also in multi-player mode compete on who can do the best wall ride, who can do the worst crash, play horse or Skate and other cool things. This is the Best Skateboarding Game ever and This game is the Greatest game I have ever played!

An excellent simulation skater for all those who thought Tony Hawk was a little easy for their fingers. Thrasher puts you with real boards, real sponsors and real simulation style playing. The game is extremely challenging and will take a few hours to get used to. After that you will be playing for days trying to pull off impossible tricks while listening to te well made soundtrack. The only problem was the graphics which could have been a little better with frame-rate but other than that, this game should not be missed. This is for all those who want to really master a skateboaring game...

Fun as hell

When I first started playing,Skate & Destroy,I thought the controls were bad and that the gameplay was extremely boring. The only reason being, I had just finished playing, THPS(Tony Hawks Pro Skater). Which is fast and extremely easy. When you play skate and destroy, the controls are a little hard to get used to but as you as you do get used to the game itself, there is know way you can go back to THPS. In Skate and Destroy, there are so many different tricks and options. Even for multiplayer, there are seven different modes to choose from.(There is a mode called sick fix, where each player sees who can hurt themselves the hardest). There is even a bail button. This game is immesly realistic and has everything. PLus there are over twice as many tricks in Skate and Destroy as there are in THPS. Also, in Skate and Destroy, as you move on in the levels (12 by the way) you can get different sponsors to choose from. And you become more experienced and learn different tricks. If you just want to sit back and go couch skateing real easily, choose THPS. But after you play Skate and Destroy, you will just think that THPS is BORING.

the most realistic skate game out there

I got Ridge Racer when I bought one of the first Playstations on the market, and I thought it was the greatest racing game I'd ever see. That was before Gran Turismo came along and blew me away. Same thing happened with Tony Hawk - an awesome game, but when I played Thrasher I was just floored. Amazing physics, big levels with tons of detail, lots of tricks, and a killer soundtrack. It's harder than Tony Hawk to pick up and play, but once you get the hang of it you'll be amazed what you can do - just like real skateboarding.

SIMULATION

The 3rd skateboarding game to come out on the Playstation, continues the saying, "Third time's a charm." The first skateboarding game, Street Sk8er was horrible in every aspect, including linear graphics and gameplay. The second game out and most popular by far, Tony Hawk Pro Skater. THPS boasted super fast gameplay and excellent gameplay. It had a more arcade feel to it, which made it more accessible to a broader audience, but left die-hard skatefans much to desire. Thrasher Skate and Destroy fills that void quite nicely. The setting of the game starts you off choosing one of six small town punks (There are no real skaters in this game) to try to progress to the top of the skateboard industry. In order to do so, you must beat the high score for your hometown level then do the same for eleven more levels. New tricks are awarded or "learned" after each level you beat. A few levels are contests and after winning you can choose a sponsor from a variety of brands. After you have beaten the game, go back and try your luck on expert mode. This mode is much harder and after every city you conquer you take a picture of your winning run for the cover of Thrasher. There are five covers to get on before you can be skater of the year.

I'm going to break this skate simulation down into various categories for you:

Graphics 8/10 Not exactly pushing the playstation's limits, but they work well. They're not really as ugly as they are plain. Low on detail, but by no means an eyesore. There are more than a few glitches in this however, but they don't detract from the fun.

Gameplay: 9/10 Every trick imaginable is crammed in this game. They can all be linked smoothly together through a clever trick system. This game moves a lot slower that Tony Hawk Pro Skater and will take some getting used too. When you take a slam, it takes to long to get up, which can be annoying in timed runs, where every second counts. It feels like the ledges in this game haven't been waxed in years, and balance is lost too quickly when grinding. Most of the trick animations look really good, except for a few: F/S nosegrind, b/s smith, and hardflip all leave much to be desired. This game boasts a clever nollie modifier button, so you can actually do nollie and fakie tricks, unlike Pro Skater.

Sound: 10/10 This game comes with a great old School hip-hop sound track featuring Gangstarr, PublicEnemy and a Tribe Called Quest. I being a big fan of punk, really enjoyed the game's soundtrack. All the skate noises sound authentic and you will feel like you are actually skating.

Control: 7/10 Doing flip tricks on this game is awkward to say the least. Because you have to hold a directional button to do different flips you will also lean in that direction. This does not give you the precision needed to line up different flips in to grinds. After you master this game you will get the kind of get the hang of it. (You have to press the flip trick direction very fast.) But it is still a problem. Also the pump/go button is the same as the grind button so sometimes you will be riding over a ramp or curb and accidentally grind it. It can get annoying. Other than that I had no problems and thought everything else worked out pretty smooth. There is two little cool features in this game that I thought should be mentioned: You can die in this game, so think twice before you hurl your self off those buildings, and if you think you are going to slam you can bail in the air to reduce damage.

Challenge: 9/10 This game is not easy and first time players will be faced with a good amount of frustration. Give it some time though and you will be rewarded with the satisfaction of playing a truly outstanding game. Pretty soon you will be on your way too becoming Thrasher Skater of the Year, which is no small task.

Multi-Player: 8/10 There are 7 different games to play with a friend. The problem is none of them can be played simultaneously, they are all turned based. Longest wallride and hardest slam are some of the more diverse games to play. I wish they had longest manual contest though.

Replay Value: 10/10 You will be playing this game long after you have beat the snot out of the 1 player game. If multi-player doesn't keep things interesting enough, it's always a blast to try to top your previous high scores on levels. The high level of challenge also keeps things from getting stale.

Overall 9/10 This game is directed toward actual skaters. A non-skater would probably not have a very good time with this game. If you skate and think Tony Hawk Pro Skater is too unrealistic, pick this game up right away. It is really fun and well worth your money!

A Must Buy For Any Skater

When I first played this game I thought it wasn't that good. I thought Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was better. Then I got used to it. After that I was like "Tony what?" In Thrasher you can pull off almost any (if not all) skating moves. In Tony Hawk's Pro Skater you can only pull off a few. I noticed that in Thrasher you can do half-cabs, in Tony Hawks you can't. The graphics may not be as good, but so what. This game is one of the best games I've played on the Playstation in a LONG TIME. The interactive levels make this game even better. If you bust a trick over a gap it'll give you a "risky" factor. I also like it when the cops come to take your board. If you bust a trick in front of them it gives you a lot more points. It is hard to put everything I like about this game in here, so just go out and get this game and see for youself. You'll fall in love with it in about 20 minutes.

This game is 4 tha OG

Best Xmas Gift Ever for a Skateboarding Enthusiast

If your kid likes skateboarding and video games, this is definitely the gift to give him/her. I can't believe how close to real it feels when you grind a handrail or olly over a garbage can. You can tell they really spent time making the control feel like the real thing. It's so fun and rewarding, and you really have to practice to get better, and then you are all proud when you finally pull-off a wallride! The graphics, the music, and the wipeouts are awesome!

Sweet and REAL

Ok, ill admit it Tony Hawks Pro skater is definently fun with its wacky jobs to perform and the crazy worlds u skate in. I myself skateboard and am gettin kinda tired of the "out of this world" game where u can do jus about ne thing u can think of. Thrasher Skate and Destroy is awesome for the reason its realistic. It's hard, but thats how skateboarding is. You can't go and ollie up 10 stairs and pull of huge combos of tricks on this game or in real life. Id say this game is next best thing to actually skateboarding, gettin chased by pigs, being slammed on some of the tricks, and the overal realism. Ok ive said more then most read lol doubt ne one reads down to here. If you liek skateboarding, this game is for you. (...)
