I am an rpg collector,i have all the best rpgs for nes, snes, saturn and playstation so far. I have spent days playing final fantasy 3, cristalis, chrono triguer, lufia2, and a lot of other great rpgs and I can say that this one is the best playstation rpg there is.

WAAAAAHHHOOOOOOOOOOW this RPG rules!Hey,it beats the heck out of the misplaced-eye people on Final Fantasy 8!I've seen this type of Battle-Field in Star Ocean, but in that game its like a real battle-field,you can move left, right up,down, diagonal, bla, bla, bla. There is actually STORYLINE in this game!Amazing!Considering the dull stroyline in FF8,kill kill kill kill. This has a great character develepmont system, okay, the graphics are less than good, but graphics arent what make an rpg,I would recommend this to everyone! This is truly a good game, best rpg ive ever played, well im off to sleep, cya everybody!

ToD best game

I feel that this is the best RPG ever it has that best leveling policy in that you get levels and so does your sword unless you use a non swordian user but most of them are really good too. The battle system is realistic you get to move the character you want in battle and its 2 player. I have played this game 3 times through and i still like to play, the tower of druga can be anoying but its optional, the only thing i hate about the game is how long it takes to be able to choose who the 2nd player is though in the 1st 30 min you can have a 2nd player it has to be Mary then Rutee for like 2 hours more of play but oh well.

Interesting new fighting/rpg battle style

I think this game is overall great. You might be disapointed in the sucky graphics, though(much like SNES). It has an interesting storyline, however certain parts are a little soap-operaish(i.e. so-and-so turns out to be so-and-so's sister). The fighting style is refreshing from the typical selection of spell, attack... where you don't actually fight you just give commands. That can be fun, but Tales of Destiny has some of that and it adds in a new semi-fighting style to it giving it a unique blend. ---all in all it's a great game--- ---it's worth your money---

Too long and not worth the time to play

This is not one of the best games to play. It's very long and seems to continue on and on without really a satisfying ending for the time. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Tales of Destiny is undoubtedly the most boring RPG in the history of video games. I started playing with a much higher expectation, and ended disappointed. In addition, I finished the game curious of the ending, only to discover another disappointment.

I spent at least 40 hours playing this game, and vamoosed from approximately 200 battles, as a result of boredom. Even with a strategy guide, I was left in the dark several times. One may walk around aimlessly for hours without a strategy guide at hand. Overall, this game is not recommended by me, but then again everybody has a different opinion.

The Greatest Game In Exsitance

I honestly can say that I can't find any flaw in ToD. The story is the greatest surpassing even the likes of FF7. The battle system is the best I have ever seen in a RPG, I mean why should you have to wait around while your time bar fills up, and why can't you doge attacks by moving in other games. The Charates are one of my favorite parts of ToD, the main charater Stan isn't a galent hero but more of a simple county boy, Rutee is the sly theif with a hidden agenda, Mary is the Ditze warrior with no memorie of her past life, pluse there are also 5 sentent Swords in this game called sorwdeians each with there own personalites and masters.Another great aspect of this game iis the dioague rather than just attacking the boss befor he talks to you a little explaining why he is doing all of these evil things, the conversation eventualy leads into a descusion of religion and how they plan to create a true utopia this is by far my favorite conversation in any game. Heck even the way I bought the game is cool, I had no previose knowalge of the game but I bought it any way and it turned out to be my favorite game of all time. All of this pales in comparison to the games ending where the screen fades away and says... opps not supposed to say play to find out for yourself, you won't be dissaponted.

A huge disappointment

I'm a Tales fan. I love most of the games in the series, though the series does have flaws. Tales of Legendia, Tales of the Tempest, just to name a few, though another one is this game: Tales of Destiny.

To start, the graphics look like they came from a SNES game, a poor-graphic SNES game at that. Apart from the opening and ending anime-movies, everything looks bad, there only being the occasional spell animation that isn't generic. Towns are unimaginitive and the sprites are rather blocky. Then there is the world map, which looks positivly hideous, along with the aweful angle it's at.

Next, the music and sound. The saving grace of the game is brought down by a lack of songs that don't sound like each other or aren't overplayed. The voices are still in Japanese, which is good and bad. Sometimes I want to understand what's said at the end of battle, though it's not that big of a problem taken the only voice acting is in the battles and can be turned off.

The characters also are rather poor. They all seem the same for the begining of the game, though there are some changes through the rest. It doesn't matter much, since all of their personalities have been done before.

Now the combat. What always is a big thing in the series is bogged down by the fact that you can only do one attack at a time. No standard attack combos, you use the attack once. This really slows down the battles.

The plot is also dry. Not much of a story, and it doesn't keep you hooked due to how overly predictable it is.

So what is good about the game? Well, not much. Some of it is good, but for the most part, it's a poor game and a disgrace to the series.

When I first rented this game, I wasn't expecting a lot out of it. But it instantly caught my attention when I realized, "Hey! That's a Japanese voice!" Yes, Tales of Destiny keeps its Japanese voices which is very, very cool because a lot of famous seiyuus (voice actors) are in it including Imai Yuka and..er..the dude who plays Zelgadis in The Slayers... >_< Plus many more! ^_^ But don't think you won't understand anything, the only time you hear their voices are in battle and the hilarious scenes when Stahn is exploring bookcases. =D And if you beat the game, you can listen to hundreds of drama clips, attacks, and victory voices!

Tales of Destiny has many battle in it which would usually be very annoying and frustrating (*cough*ThousandArms*cough*) but Namco created a battle system where you can run across the screen as an adorable chibi and slash your enemies with your weapons, specials and spells! Plus you can control the other characters' attacks/specials too!

The overall story is pretty cliche but it doesn't take a moment of fun away from the game! There's some surprising twists at the end and after the credits you are treated to a hilarious reunion. ^_^

This game is tons of fun and worth the bucks! Hell, I had to buy this game 3 times already because my disks keep getting broken/scratched! ...That's telling you something.
