I love the voices of the bosses in mega man 8. Usually because they sound incredibly stupid. Like Grenade Man when he says I'm Grenade Man! The bosses always say I'm --- Man! The voice quality here is horrible another plus. If you want a good one listen to grenade man. Get to his boss room and listen to him say... "I'll punish you." or "Punish everyone hahaha." or wait untill he attacks and says FLASHBOMB! If you want a comedy game buy this one.

If your an older gamer or just someone who likes older game series you have probaly played Megaman (the original series not X,Legends,Zero,or Battle Network) I remember when I first got my NES when I was 5 and Megaman 2 I loved that game and still do so I saw Megaman 8 for playstaition decided I should check up on this series (I'm more of a Megaman X fan) from the opening movie which is shown in stunning anime to the ending credits this game is flawless the story begins with 2 strange robots fighting in the deep reaches of space when they injure each other so bad that they crash land into earth and Megaman heads to investigate when he gets there Dr. Wily (for you noobs Megaman's main enemy) is carrying off one of the robots which has very evil very powerful energy Wily is harnesting so Megaman helps the second robot and heads after Wily so the battle begins with your standard 4 bosses Clownman,Grenademan,Frostman, and Tenguman(my personal favorite) and after they are done your next four appear Swordman,Astroman,Searchman, and Aquaman(not to be confused with the DC comics hero) you Megaman veterans already know where this is going even though the game is standard Megaman format that same format is perfect and if it ain't broke don't fix it

Graphics wise the game rules its 2D but very good looking 2D the enemies and backgrounds are very detailed I could just stare at them all day but I won't but anyway you older gamers will admit this is a huge step up from NES and SNES(remember the old square shots that would pass off as bullets in the old games?) Megamans graphics Megas little pellet shots even look good his charge up shots have detail and just the basic movements of running jumping and sliding look pretty good

Sound hows the sound you ask? Great the music for each stage is good and even the voice acting in the cut scences is nicely matched also having the cut scences in anime was a great idea seeing Bass and Megaman duke it out in anime is really great to see it really makes the carnival level more fun when you have carnival music as your background all also when you're going through a labyrinth in Astromans stage the music really sets the mood for how strange the level is these are just some examples as all the music really does a good job of setting the mood for fun

Fun factor is what makes this game so great is that there are so many diverse challenges in levels and ways of getting around such as snowboarding, flying via the Rush Jet and even swinging on vines in a jungle so many robots to destroy so little time also there are added challenges like finding 40 bolts that Roll (once again for you noobs Megaman's sister) will make upgrades for Megaman with and its not as hard as some other Megaman installments so if you're rusty on the series or new to it this would be a good place to start basic Megaman formula still is around if you beat a boss you obtain his power example: if you beat Clownman you get his power the Thunder Claw even though I have beaten the game several times I still find myself playing it

The Bottom line here is that Megaman 8 is another perfect Megaman game that seems to just get better with every installment that needs to be in everyones Playstaition collection 10/10

By the way for those of you who agree with my review lets hope for Megaman 9 soon

Almost classic!

Anyone who was a fan to the old Nintendo Megaman series will enjoy this game.
Just as in the old games, you get to battle eight enemies and in the end, beat them again in Wily tower and defeat the two stages of doctor Wily.
Unfortunately, there are some some cons:
you don't get to use rushjet when you want to and the other rush powers are kinda stupid, and the voices on this game are reallly wimpy.
Power ups are limited, so you should choose carefully.
Pros:
Good graphics and challanging levels. You won't beat this game without continuing a few times.
You can get power ups when you get enough bolts to buy one.
There are new enemies. Always a plus.
New and interesting plot.
Memory card, so you don't have to write down passwords.

All in all, it's a great game. Definately worth buying.

A good game, contrary to popular belief

Mega Man 8 (1997.) The eighth game in the "classic NES" Mega Man series.

All six of Mega Man's adventures on the NES were outstanding games. It's no surprise that Capcom wanted to continue the series on the Super Nintendo with Mega Man 7. Unfortunately, Mega Man 7 received very mixed opinions from fans because so many people were comparing it to the X series. Finally, the classic Mega Man series has arrived on the Playstation, in the form of Mega Man 8. Read on for my review.

PROS:

-The graphics are very bright and vibrant.
-In this game, your character is semi-customizable. You can buy certain power-up items which will alter your performance. For example, there are arm cannon power-ups, a sliding power-up, and even one that makes it so that there is no recoil when you're hit by enemies!
-The storyline is quite a bit different from other Mega Man games, making for a very refreshing change from the "Wily strikes back" plot. Wily IS the main villain, but this game's plot is still unlike any Mega Man game that came before it.
-You can save your progress onto a memory card, so you don't have to worry about writing down and saving passwords.
-Some versions of the game include a Mega Man tenth anniversary booklet, which features game art from over the years.

CONS:
-The graphics in this game are a little TOO colorful.
-There are only a limited number of bolts you can find, and even then, you can only create a limited number of power-up items. What's up with that?
-Probably the most frequent complaint about this game I get is Mega Man's girlish voice, and I have to agree with that. If the game's voices were in Japanese with English subtitles it would be understandable, but it isn't, so it isn't!
-The lyrics to the opening theme song have been removed from the English language version (probably because of Japanese lyrics.)
-You can only select from four stages at first, and not the whole eight (from Mega Man 7 on, this became sort of a tradition for the series.)
-You can ONLY play as Mega Man. Sorry, but you can't be Proto Man, Bass, or Duo.
-The Mega Ball is a very weird special item.
-Energy tanks are no more. I would rather have had them in this game than many of the new power-ups (not to say that the new power-ups are bad - they're actually pretty cool.)
-The Jet Snowboard parts of some stages are EXTREMELY annoying.

OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent game in a classic series. However, I DON'T recommend buying this, as it and nine other Mega Man games will be rereleased in the forthcoming Mega Man Anthology collection. If you're killing time until the anthology comes out, renting this might not be a bad move.

THIS is a Megaman game!?!?!?

Some background:

I remember thinking when Megaman 7 was released "Looks like they're going for a younger audience with this one", but it was still a classic megaman game and very much fun. It wasn't so juvenile as to alienate me, unfortunately Megaman 8 is.

The voices! Please stop the voices!

In Megaman 8, megaman talks... like a girl! WTF!? That's not the worst of it though- the robot masters talk too, and I sure wish they didn't.

Most of them speak in an unacceptably feminine tone, and those that don't say unspeakably stupid things like "I'm grenade man!" or "Nice shot!" Barf.

Not the worst:

Now all of the enemies are cutesy and most look like toys. May of the stages look like a jaunt through the neverland ranch... why are you doing this to us capcom? The enemies don't explode in a particularly cool way, there's no rush adapt in this one, and the story is lame (though the X series implies that the 'evil energy' is the Sigma or Zero virus).

Game play:

Yeah, okay- we're on Playstation now... so why are we still pressing down and jump to slide?

Suggestions:

I hope Megaman 9 explains some of what happens to bring about the X series. In fact, make Megaman 9 more like the X series.

Also:

-Bring back the rush adapt.
-Maybe let us play as protoman.

Conclusion:

This game is awful. A disgrace to the megaman franchise that has me wondering: "Is capcom creating new games, then sticking Megaman in it and calling it a megaman game?". Sure feels that way.

I really wanted to like this game, but just couldn't do it.

I bought this game without having played it, assuming it would be at least as good as the NES Mega Man games (I had missed the limited-release Mega Man 7 for SNES).

I will just say straight out that I was very disappointed by the game. For starters, the gameplay was, in my opinion, unnecessarily difficult. I got to the Wily level where you have to go through this stage they flies past you at a mile a minute, and have a one-second warning to "Jump", "Slide", etc. After proably a dozen tries, I put the game away on my bookshelf and haven't touched it since.

The voice acting was simply horrible. Why oh why did Capcom give Mega Man a girly voice? It sounds like he was voiced by Mickey Mouse, put into a helium chamber, and then kicked hard in a tender spot. It was simply painful to listen to. And the acting in general was so bad and overdone it reminded me of the original Resident Evil.

The anime sequences were also unnecessary. Some anime is directed toward adults, while others are directed toward kids. The anime here reminded me more of "Hamtaro" than "DragonBall Z".

Basically, this is a game that looks like it's for kids, but is probably way too hard for them to play. Unless you're a super die-hard Mega Man fan (as I USED to be), then skip this one.

Pretty good, actually...

[If you copy my writing style, it is because I am ultimate.]

Mega Man blasts onto the PSX with his 8th adventure. Wily's back, and this time he's after two robots who battled endlessly before crashing on Earth. One of them is Duo, Mega Man's new ally, and he battles an evil energy that Wily wants to get his hands on. So far, this is the latest installment unless you count MegaMan & Bass (a.k.a. Rockman & Forte) as the 9th, although I personally call it Mega Man 8.5. Read on to see why this is a decent game:

THE GOOD
Some people were put off by the cartoony graphics, but I thought they were fine, even if Mega Man looked a little funky. The backgrounds were very nice and the level designs were quite good... they haven't been this good since MM4, in my opinion. The storyline is among the best in the series and it's almost played like a comic book, which I found intriguing. Proto Man ALSO HAS TO DO WITH THE STORY and the poor guy needs to get his own game! The music is thankfully better than the past two entries and this is an overall challenging game, something that most games lack nowadays. On a final note, you can also have a weapon selected simultaneously with your mega buster, which is VERY convenient.

THE BAD
Probably Mega Man's girlie voice (he's a GUY, Capcom!). In fact, ALL of the voice acting in this game is quite horrid. I also didn't like it that they dismissed the Japanese intro music and while I'm not a fan of Japanese music because I can't understand what they're saying, it's an upbeat tune that shouldn't have been ignored (and FAR better than X6's heavy metal theme).

OVERALL
Considering what we have in the game, it's not a bad game and I consider it a masterpiece in comparison to Mega Mans 6 and 7. However, fans of the older Mega Man games may be turned off by it. I recommend it to die-hard Mega Man fans who are willing to get over some cartoony animation.

Classic!

A classic and fun traditional Mega Man Game, though I think I heard from someone it's a PS approximation of Mega Man and Bass (now available on GBA! Really good too!) without Bass (Forte) but despite that, its great. Also, it's worth a look because a: the voice acting is HILARIOUS, and b: the theme song is pretty good, and c: it's just a really fun Mega Man game.

Though even to this day, when my sister and I fight we are heard to say "I'm Frost Man. I'll crush you. I'll make a popsicle out of you!"

not as good as I thought

This game is ok I guess but it has many flaws. 1'st of all the graphics are really BAD!!! once you A beat the bosses or B find there weaknesses they become super easy.there are only 8 bosses you can get weapons from and thats Clownman,Grenademan,Frostman,Tenguman, searchman, aquaman,Swordman, and Astroman. After I beat it once Ican beat the whole game in about 4 hours or less.Ifyour looking for a good megaman game skip this and buy Megaman legends 1 or 2.But this is only my opinion you might like it.
