This is by far the best Sonic game ever! It had cool moves and challenging rounds! Any fan of Sonic would love it, any age! It is truely a classic! Sonic is one of the best video games ever invented! Sega Genesis has outdone themselves again! Every person who likes video games will absolutly love Sonic Hedgehog 2!!! It is so much fun!

The first and second levels are fun the third level is hard but overall this game is pretty fun ive played better though

Probably the most known genesis game of all time, as well as possibly being the most known Sonic game of all time, Sonic 2 is well deserving. This was actually the only game I owned for years when I was little, and it kept me busy! I still play it quite alot. My Genesis is still working, but I also have it on Sonic Mega Collection (which is how you'd play this game if your Genesis doesn't work). Sonic 2 is probably the best classic Sonic game (I just wish Tails could fly here), and is pretty much what defined that series in the first place: High speed action and frantic gameplay requireing good reflexes. You can either play as Sonic or Tails, or, you can play as Sonic and have Tails follow you around and mimic your moves, which can come in handy in bosses. Its much more effective, however, if you have a friend control Tails with a second controller. The fustrating thing about that is that the screen still scrolls with Sonic, the player controlling Tails will often get left behind and not reapear for a few moments. It also has a decent 2 player mode. This game is just about right challenge wise and is great for any age. And, in my opinion tottaly beats any classic Mario game hands down! Terrific classic game, an absolute must have if you're a Sonic fan!

This is more of a kiddy game because of its graphics from Sega. I played it so much that my eyes get dizzy following Sonic throughout the scene. Although, I think everyone should take dizzy pills because of how fast he is running. I know if you look down at his shoes, you will get dizzy.

Out of all the sonic games this is the best. Sure the new games have 3D graphics and the characters acutally talk but you can't turn into super sonic at will.Only on certian levels (usually the last levels). Also the special stages are fun (unlike the ones in Sonic Heroes).

This game is awesome! Dr. Robotnik's Death Egg has crashed and can not currently be repaired by himself. Sonic and his new pal Miles "Tails" Prower must keep the evil doctor from discovering the power of the Chaos Emeralds, the only things that can repair his ship. Sonic has many new moves, and Tails is good, too. You can also play as both Sonic and Tails for double the power! Additionally, you can insert this game into the extra game slot on the "Sonic and Knuckles" lock-on game cartridge to play with Knuckles, the powerful echidna. Buy this game, whatever you do.

Bigger, badder and more fun for your buck!

The first Sonic game blew me away when I was a little kid and when Sonic 2 came out I was first in line to get my hands on the new copy.

I was not dissapointed by any stretch of the imagination. This game takes what was great about the first one and built on that greatness of that first game and the result is what I consider the best video game of it's time. I have such fond memories of playing this video gaem that I sometimes cry for the day when this game is back in my house to play again as it's so wonderful and fun to play.

The music on this one is another winning video game soundtrack and I can easily remember the music on some of the various video game levels. My favorite of the music was the "Casino Night" zone levels with it's funky and electric groove beats and colorful melody. That level remains my favorite of the various levels on ALL of the sonic games. I espeically like how they used Pinball flippers to where you can be launched into a slot machine, where you can get bonus prizes like rings, an extra life or on the negative end, you can lose 100 rings if you get three Robotnik symbols from the slot machine.

This game does the job of continuing the greatness of the first one and building on it.

A great gaem that is sorely missed these days where video games have declined into gross gorefests.

There are NO flaws what so ever the last level is HARD! It used to scare me when I was 4 when the giant eggman robot came out (Hint:A cheat to do level select is to play songs 19,65,9,17 hold A and START and at the menu you will appear at the level select screen)I used to cheat with the debug and Super Sonic cheat and I still do it is just hard to beat although I did
beat Sonic Heroes after 5 months and then 2 months later got all the emeralds but anyway this game is PERFECT!!!

Sonic 2--not the best, not the worst.

Well, I didn't get this game for the Genesis when it came out, but I got it about a year ago. And just today, I finally sat down and played through the first four zones. I have to admit, it is fairly fun. However, there is no save--so if you get really far and die, after you run out of continues, you have to start all over. That is one thing that subtracts a little from the fun. Some levels can be a little confusing as to where to go, and some can be quite challenging. That makes things interesting; however, not really interesting enough to make one want to play all the levels again to get back where they were. So, if you're looking for a challenge, get Sonic 2. If you want more fun and the ability to save, get Sonic 3.

Update: you really don't have to play the game over again if you want to get back to where you left off or died--just use the level select.

This game is the one game that every true Sonic fan should have.
If you can't find it.Go on the internet or a local yard sale. Hurry!! There is very few left in the market and you don't want to miss on this Genesis tresure.This time around Sonic can becaome Super Sonic when you collect seven Chaos Emeralds.In this form all his abilities are enhanced.
