Servers were down yesterday since they rolled back an update that did not work. They also have daily server downtime for maintenance. I have played for over 100 hours since it came out 2 weeks ago with no issues, except the lack of sleep from playing this phenomenon of a game. Try it today, it was working this morning. Also, check the CoH website for server status.

Make sure your computer has the correct required video card. We have four brand new laptop, computers none of which had the correct video card. After purchasing the game we also found out that only the GE Force 2 series card works without any gliches. I cannot review the game itself but only say we were sorely disappointed that this game only accepts one graphic video card.

dont buy this game it costs $50 upfront and $15 a month. That turns out to be $180 a year!!!!!!!!! You could buy almost 4 new games, 9 greatest hits or platinum hits, and there are plenty of old $10 games. Plus the websight has no phone support so if you have a problem you have to wait a frikin week for them to get back to you. So spend your money wisely.

Might be fun, if I could play it....

Don't bother buying CoH at this point, unless you also plan on buying City of Villains. Otherwise, you'll get stuck trying to download a 2.5 Gb 'patch' that routinely disconnects and resets (Its been 3 days since I bought the game and I STILL can't get the patch downloaded...on a cable connection). Meanwhile, my '1 month of free play' is ticking away, completely unavailable to me.

Whats in the patch? Mostly, City of Villains content...yep. I can't play the game because I'm stuck dl'ing information on their OTHER game.

If I ever DO get to play, this'd better be a darn good game. Otherwise, I'll be busting down some doors at NC. This is NOT a good start.

I didnt enjoy this game. This game gets 2 stars because 1. The character being unque is kinda cool. 2 Spells arent that great but you can make a lot of different combinations. After that i was not impressed with the graphics. The enemies are the same over and over. It like playing EQ and being stuck on the boat going back and forth. Or like fighting bunnies in FFXI who finds that fun. Give me a giant monster with stunning graphics and ill be happy but this game just doesnt do it...

This game is one big RPG Rip-off, you buy the game for $49.99 (plus S&H) and when you get the game on your computer it says that you need a Credit Card or Game Time Subscription Card (which cost $29.99) just to start the game. It only has On-line player game and no single player game that you could play Off-line, so don't buy this game if you have no Credit Card and can't buy the Game Time Subscription Card, if you do however it will cost you a total of $79.98 to $193.39 (thats if you buy the 12 months subscription with a Credit Card).

I've been a loyal player of City of Heroes for over six months. However recent ill considered changes made to the game by the developers have ruined the game I used to love playing.

The developers have decided that they need to "guide" players into the "correct" way of playing the game by eliminating options players had in designing their characters. This has resulted in ruining the thing that made this game so fun to play.

These changes have been coming every few weeks culminating in a massive change that went in on 10/26/2005 that has lead to large numbers of players canceling their accounts and leaving the game, including myself and most of my friends in the game.

Be warned, this is no longer the same game that so many people reviewed favorably in past reviews. Had I rated it 2 months ago I would have given it five stars. However, this game takes many months to develop a character (and with recent changes character development has been slowed by at least half), and nothing is more frustrating then to spend months developing a character only to have it drastically weakened repeatedly.

If you don't relish the idea of paying $15 a month for many months creating a character only to have your creation destroyed by a company that chooses to ignore the pleas of thousands of its' customers, I'd suggest spending your money elsewhere.

Superheroes Unite!

City of Heroes might not be as complex as some other MMORPGs, but it certainly does the superhero genre justice. It's easy to get started, easy to make friends, and with new maps or upgraded game content ever few months, it just keeps getting better. Even after you've mastered level 50, you can start again and get a fresh experience.

I purchased this game with high expectations. However, after one "free" month of service and a total of an hour of gameplay, this is one nightmare that I will not continue to use.

I have nothing but technical issues since I bought the game. PlayNC support sent me countless boilerplate responses without any concern for my resolving this issue. In the end, when my free account ran out, so did the support.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It is a buggy, poorly designed product that is a waste of your funds.

This is simply rocks

This is my first MMO experience and has been such a good one. A friend introduced me to it and I have been in Paragon since day 1.

Fighting baddies has never been so much fun with the flexible character builder, you can look like anyone you want.
