Best theme park game yet

If you're a fan of games like Roller Coaster Tycoon, SimCoaster is not to be missed. Just as in Roller Coaster Tycoon, you build and manage a theme park. But SimCoaster takes this to a whole new level with a much easier to use interface (esspecially coaster building) and awesome 3D graphics that let you walk around the park and ride the rides. Best of all, you DON'T NEED A 3D CARD to play. I love Roller Coaster Tycoon, but it's a bit dated (at least two years old). Pick this one up

What an awesome game! If you thought the other Sim's were good, you haven't seen anything yet! There is so much to see and build, you'll be hooked FOREVER!

The original Theme Park (1994) was, for its time, a fantastic game. It had great graphics, beautiful sound and it was very challenging. Last year the sequel, Theme Park World, came out. I found it a huge dissapointment. The graphics were pretty good and sound as well, but the game wasn't challenging at all. It returned it the day after I bought it (I finished (!) it in 1 day) Now there's SimCoaster (or Theme Park Inc.) It uses the graphicsengine of Theme Park World. Like I said, the graphics were pretty good a year ago, but now they're a little dated. Still it's very amusing to see your park running and there's no other game that lets you ride your own coasters! The thing that's really good about this game is the gameplay. The game starts off a little easy but when you progress through the game it gets very challenging. Just like Rollercoaster Tycoon you'll get cetain 'missions' so you've got a goal to play to. This keeps you playing. If you like these kind of games you should buy it!

I enjoy sim-games. I have all of them. From the original Sim City to the latest, Sim Coaster, I got 'em. I just have to tell you, I was not very impressed by Sim Coaster. If you take Sim Theme Park, add in some different rides and have the whole thing require more micromanagement input from you, then you have this game. The graphics are the same caliber and the rides have been given a facelift, but basically it's a whole lot like Sim Theme Park.
Granted, I'm the type of person who really likes Roller Coaster Tycoon (RCT). I like the detailed abilities RCT gives you like building underground, inside buildings...etc. Sim Coaster doesn't give you these abilities. It's more of a park- management type sim than a park-building sim.
Sim Coaster isn't a bad game, it's colorful and has decent graphics. If you don't have Sim Theme Park, it might be worth a look. If you do have Sim Theme Park, that same look will bring on a strong sense of deja vu.

This game should have been
an expansion pack to Sim Theme Park - and priced as such - as it's
hardly a sequel. If there are any major differences or improvements,
I haven't found them yet. You have three themed areas to choose from
(Sim Theme Park had five) and you climb the corporate ladder by
developing your park with various rides, managing your staff, and
completing challenges that will ultimately allow you to progress to
the next themed area. The system requirements are steeper in this
game and the load times are excruciating. Don't listen to the box, you'll need at least a P350 and even then only if you have a
fast video card or you'll be struggling. If you do decide to change
the screen resolution, the game shuts down without giving you the
option to save your park first - a very irritating
annoyance.
Another annoyance is the constantly yapping announcer
(you think Bullfrog would've listened to all the complaints people
were making in Sim Theme Park). For instance, one of the challenges
involves increasing the attendance by a certain percentage. To do
this you may decide to lower the entry price (hey, maybe I'm not
Michael Eisner and I don't want to gouge my customers!) Unfortunately
this will cause the announcer to annoy you over and over that your
entry price is too low. Or maybe you've researched all the rides and
attractions you can build. Doesn't matter, it'll yap incessantly that
you need to put your scientists to work to the point where you want to
slap its little blue face.
The rides don't differ much from one
area to the next; another consistent complaint about Sim Theme Park.
I don't find fault in this as most amusement park rides really aren't
much different from one another, but it would've been nice to see
Bullfrog step up to the plate and offer unique rides that violate the
laws of physics in the real world. One problem I ran into in this
"sequel" involves the potential of rides interfering with
one another. In the first park, I built a rollercoaster next to a
large rock formation. Unbenownest to me I found out this rock
formation later became a ride I needed to build. Unfortunately, there
was no way of making this happen without completely destroying my
existing rollercoaster at considerable expense.
The last major gripe
for some involves the gameplay itself. It's very evident the
developers did not want to make this complex to the point where you
felt like a Harvard Business grad by the time you finish. Instead the
focus is more on putting out fires minute to minute while still having
time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. You can adjust the speed of
the gameplay so it can be as slow-paced or as frantic as you want and
this function works well. Many people will be put off by the lack of
"sim" in Sim Coaster, but now you can't complain because I
warned you in advance, right? Also, the AI of your staff seems to
have improved considerably - puke doesn't dry for four hours on the
sidewalk like it did in the last game.
The area where this game
shines is simple - camcorder mode. With a click of the mouse, you get
to see the park and ride your coasters in first-person view as if you
were a visitor instead of the overhead "God mode" view.
After spending an hour carefully designing every twist and loop,
riding your creation is a nice reward for your efforts and a lot of
fun. You even get to see the other shops and rides you've built from
the view of the front car as well as hear the kids screaming as you do
the triple corkscrew. Again, this was in Sim Theme Park and nothing
much has changed. It would've been nice if they added the ability to
actually go into the shops or play the sideshow games. A nice
improvement to this game is you can design the coasters in advance,
then place them fully formed in your park later.
I still think Sim
Theme Park was revolutionary for its time but the lack of significant
improvements make me a little more critical this time around. Hope my
review helped.

This game is alot of fun, though it is more hetic than Sim Theme Park. It gives you much more control over the park, though it has its downsides. Alot of things like training and research that pretty much handled themselves, you now have to plan out. In STP, as long as you had adequate staff and a staff room, the employees didn't complain, but now you are showered with raise and strike demands. The coasters are cool, but where are linear induction coasters? The coaster design tool is a waste, since I design my coasters around existing constructions. Also the roster of available rides is much bigger, contingent on completing challenges and activating run down rides. Dealing with customers is more challenging in that you have a diverse mix of kids, adults and seniors. I wish though the three theme areas were laid out as one park, as money and golden tickets do not transfer between parks. I also wish the game would give me time to tweak the park, but it is constantly throwing new assignments.

I haven't played this game, but if it is like Theme Park World I don't want to. It took too long to install, takes up a HUGE amount of resources and space, and I couldn't return it to the store when I found out how much it sucked.

The name is very decieving. The game had very little to do with building coasters. It uses the same system as Sim Theme Park which was an awful game. I thought that this game would be more similar to Roller coaster tycoon which in my opinion was the best game of 2000 or 1999 whenever it was that ot came out. If you liked Sim Theme Park you would like this game, but if you want it for the coaster aspect of the game then forget it.

I tried this game after playing RCT for quite a while, so I might be a bit biased. However, I think that this is really a clone of RCT. It does have one cool feature that I do wish RCT had. You can actually ride in the coasters you build! That alone makes it a must have for the computer game buff that likes these amusement park sim games. I recommend it. After all, if they're both fun and well done, why not play both?
