Do not buy if you have NES Kirby's Adventure!!!

I'm a long time Kirby fan, so I thought I didn't need to read reviews to decide whether to buy this game. Big mistake! It's the same as the original Kirby's Adventure for NES. Second time around only took me an hour to get to 100%... Were the game designers in Japan just lazy when they made this game? The mini-games are fun, I'll give it that...

A port that seems all wrong!!!

What were they thinking, porting one of the Greatest NES games of all-time Kirby's Adventure to the GBA!!! The music is wrong, the sounds are wrong, The gameplay is wrong, and the difficulty is easier! It coundn't have gotten worse than this. If your gonna make a port atleast leave the game as it was and try to get the name right or it will ruin the game for everyone!!! They shoud have came out with a totally new Kirby game for the GBA and brought this one to the GC in mayby something like a Kirby Collectors addition with games such as: Kirby's Dreamland 1,2,and 3, Kirby's Adventure,Kirby Super Star, Kirb:The crystal Shards, and more!!! Now that is a great idea!

Dont buy!!!

this is definetly not worth your money. this game should be classified under "kids games".this in not even challenging. it's not even really fun either. there are so many short stages( about 6) in each level, and you only spend about 15 seconds in each stage.they should have spent more time making the stages longer and more difficult, instead of having a bunch of short easy levels that waste your time and aren't even worth picking up your GBA.this is a boring and money wasting game. don't let the cute pink guy convince you it's a good game. have you ever heard "don't judge a book by it's cover"well all i say is don't judge this game by it's case.

Very disapointing

I 'm sorry, but this game was one of the worst games I have ever played. You just start the game by going through levels using the powers, but your not as aggressive like in Kirbys Super Star, now that was a game! Every time you get hit, you lose your power! It is mad annoying. The story of the game isn't explained until you beat it which doesn't take long at all if your good at adventure games. This was a poor excuse for a Kirby game. There was no story and Kirby's powers weren't the same and cool as Kirbys Super Star. So I don't reccomend this game, I had to find out the hard way how bad it is.

sure is a nightmare.... :(

I knew this game wasnt worth table scraps and I was right. The game is way too short! The bosses are too easy, and the ability to have combination copies is nowhere to be found. The only credit I could give this game is the nice graphics. Evrything in it doesnt even come close 2 Kirby: Crystal Shards. I'd recommend Kirby: NiD for kids 7 and under....

Look,it is a very good game, Lots of shape-changing and boss-busting. And playing the game over again with your friends who also happen to have the cartrige is very fun. It does ,however, make it a lot easier, especialy at the bosses.

Why then, only three stars? It's simply because IT'S WAY TO SHORT!!! I mean, come on people, a game that you can beat in four hours can't have much ,if any, replay value. The mini-games are fun ,especialy the one that you get after completing the game in which you fight all the bosses one by one with only one life.
lets take a look at the ratings.

Gameplay 9/10
It's very fun when it lasts, but the enimies I found were rather easy.
Bosses 7/10
They are,at times, very easy ,but the one at the end when you verse the nightmeres is rather difficult ,and when you fight the one dude with a sword is pretty cool.
Duration 2/10
This is the part that hurts the score ( and i'm being giving when I give it 2/10). I beat it in about a total ofabout four hours.
Over all 5/10
I would sugest borrowing it from a friend or renting it. The two player game is worth a try. I can think of only one person who took longer that ten hours to beat it though, a person who I know and I will spare him the dignity by calling the troubador in sith grade, also known as the dark templar.

All in all, if you have a N64, get your hands on the cristal shards, or kick some butt in super smash bros melee, but save yourself the remorse of money miss-spent.
(P.S. watch Kung-pow Enter the fist today!)

For a gamer like me, TOO SHORT

Since the SNES days, I have been a tremendous fan of Kirby. The little pink fluff ball can easily addict you to play, so I picked this game up from a local store. On the box it seemed pretty cool, but what glitters isn't gold. My family was going on a trip, so I brought the game along. It appeared after one and a half hours I was bored with nothing to do. I was very disappointed with this game.

Graphics: (3/5) The graphics are SNES quality, not so great. The backrounds aren't detailed at all and could use more work. Also, the enemies are poorly animated and are the exact size as our main hero Kirby, but don't put up a fight. Not great.

Storyline (3/5) I guess this is a strong point of the game, but still very weak. These nightmares have been attacking the dream fountain, and King Dedede stole the star wand. Its up to Kirby to save Dream Land before the nightmares take over. Not much detail or drama, at all. Meh.

Gameplay (2/5) Ok, sure new morphs were added in (they are sooooo cool!), but the gameplay is really bad. The levels can take as much as a minute and a half to complete for a novice gamer, and there are only five levels and a boss per world. Since there are seven worlds that have five levels in them, that is only about an hour and fifteen minutes worth of gameplay. Then on level eight, the final boss, there are tons of forms so it takes around 10-15 minutes to kill. I could point out about a thousand new morph and level ideas to make this game longer.

Controls: (3/5) The controls are really simple (THANKFULLY), but I dont think there is a use for the L and R buttons - I forget, I haven't played the game in ages- which is minus two points. And there are no combo's or anything combining two buttons. That makes the game bland and standard.

Replay Value (2/5) The replay value stinks as well. There is only one secret if you beat the game with 100%, and I do not find it worth playing. I'm not sure about you, but I wouldn't want to play those easy levels again. Not good.

Overall:(2.7/5) We'll just call that three stars. The game isn't a horrible one for ages 4-7, but aside from that, it's a piece of cake. This game does have really bad points, but it has some good ones too. I love the mini-games and arena fights. That just brings back the memories of playing the classic Kirby. I wouldn't recommend buying this game at all, but instead you should go rent it. Overall the game will satisfy you anywhere from 2 hours to 2 days.

rather boring

It was kinda boring. I think it is a waste of money for any expirienced gamer looking for a challenge. On the other hand, if yyou are un-expirienced then this is a great game for beggininers.

One of the first games I ever beat was Kirby's Dreamland on my original old gray Gameboy. In fact, it might have been second after Super Mario Land. I loved it, and play it to this day mostly to see how quickly I can beat it.

The "new" Gameboy Advance game, Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland is a remake of the NES Kirby game from 1993. It's pretty much a straight forward port of the original game, with some extra mini-games thrown in. Now, I never had an NES and although I've played Kirby on some emulators, I never beat it. So imagine my disappointment when I bought Nightmare in Dreamland Thursday afternoon, and by the next night had beaten it completely. It took about an hour and a half.

All the regular Kirby functions are there, his famous suck the enemies in and spit them out or absorb their abilities, etc, but there's nothing new and the game is far too easy and straight forward. I only died a few times before the final boss, and each time was out of pure laziness. The enemies present no real challenge, and the bosses are easy to figure out.

The graphics and sound of the game are nice and fun and what one expects from Kirby, and on the outside it seems like it would be a longer game. But it's not-the levels are very short, and I didn't find the mini-games interesting enough to play them very much. There are some levels where you can practically float through the entire thing without ever fighting an enemy.

The game itself is enjoyable, and very much fun to play, but once you've beat it there's really no point in playing it again. There is nothing new to find, really unless you feel like unlocking all the mini-games, and your big reward for beating the whole thing is yet another unlocked mini-game. It's still a Kirby game, and has all the charm of a Kirby game, but if you've played either of the Gameboy games or the original NES there is not a real reason to pick up Nightmare in Dreamland.
