If your having a hard time with the game then it's because your PC is slow, maybe it's because you don't have the right video card you need a video card with 32 MB or more memory and one of these chipsets is required:NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS or greater,ATI Radeon 7500 or greater.I hope it works.I had to get my PC fixed just to play this game. But it's one of the best game's I own. It's a really good game. Also go to menu and charge the fighting moves to something easyer I did and it helped me.The game is so real looking and the levels are hard but you still win them. The two unlock players are Pippen and Merry and theirs another one but I don't knonw how to spell his name it's something like this Faramere I don't kwonw. It's alot of fun, but I still haven't won the game.I need help with it I'm at the Pelennor Fielos will someone help me?
The best action adveture game of our time

WOW, This game has to be the best game I've ever played. You'll
play as 9 characters including Gandalf, Aragon, Legolas, Gimli, Sam and Frodo. You will fight many enemys including Shelob, Nazgul, Mumakil, the Which King and much more. There are 15 highly-interactive levels with intro movie scenes and music from the 3 films. The only thing I didn't like about this game is that I had to up date my computers graghic and sound cards.
I suggest that you should have a video card with 32 MB or more memory and a NVIDIA GeForce2 or a ATI Radeon 7500 or greater.
This is a spectaculare game and worth the money.
Graphics are very good but gameplay gets boring.

I bought this game as a gift to myself last Christmas. I really love the graphics and I had no trouble with gameplay that I can recall. I also had no problems like the ones described in other reviews: no deletion problems, no hardware problems etc. I was rather disappointed, however, because the game was really just a shoot'em up game transposed to the Tolkein Universe. I have not played since Christmas, I lost interest. There is no interaction really, no adventure, nothing to maintain the interest of the player.
If you enjoy simply fighting and progressing through levels of increasing difficulty, then you will like this game. If you want to immerse yourself in the Tolkein world and interact with characters and have your brain engaged, then this game is probably not for you.
Could have been great, but...

I'm a fan of the LotR's movies and really adore EA's Battle for Middle Earth 2. Return of the King has all of the earmarks of a great game, but is crippled by a few unpardonable flaws. I recommend it only to the most fanatical fans of the movies/books and those who have the patience to wrestle with this very frustrating game.
Gameplay: I think this game is best played with a gamepad, although it can be played with keyboard and mouse. It's the usual button-smashing adventure game. You get to fight battle sequences from the movies as one of the major good-guy characters (Aragon, Frodo, Gandalf, etc.). The game has some light role-playing elements such as leveling up and gaining new abilities. However, it is primarily an adventure game involving killing a lot of orcs. It's good, mindless fun for a while until you realize how many times you are replaying levels due to the difficulty. I'm not great at these kinds of games, but I'm pretty decent and persistent. But the difficulty of this game (even on "easy") is just outrageous. It wouldn't be so bad if you could save the game whenever you wanted or if the checkpoint saves were more frequent. But no. You could play though 20 minutes of gameplay and kill 199 orcs. However, because you didn't get orc #200, you have to restart the level again. I must have replayed the level with Aragon and the undead king over 30 times, and still couldn't beat it. It just makes no sense. I'm not one to give up on a game easily, but this one just became a chore by mission 4 or 5. A pity since it was quite fun in the beginning.
Graphics: Looks really good and captures the spirit and mood of the movies. The cutscenes are straight from the movies and blend in well with the gameplay. Character models are dated by today's standards, but still look decent. The camera is very erratic and can easily make the game much harder by swinging around to some funky angle. And you have no control over it at all.
Sounds: Everything is in order here. Great background music from the movies, voice acting is spot on, and special effects are believable.
Technical issues/documentation: Thin, but functional manual. The game was perfectly stable on my computer, although I never finished it. Overall, a well polished game.
Value: If you can get it for $10 or less, it might be worth a try. I would suggest playing the demo first, although it is easier than the game itself. Again, be forewarned: this is a very frustrating game due to the absence of a real save system. If you don't mind replaying a mission 5-50 times, go for it. Otherwise, save your money and time.
Pros:
+good production values
+nice graphics, music, and voice acting
+action can be intense and very reminiscent of the movies
Cons:
-absolutely ridiculous difficulty, even on "easy"
-no real save system to speak of
Great Game

Return of the crap is more like it. Don't buy it kids, its basically a karatechop action game with people running around killing eachother. This has nothing to do with the book or movie so its really disappointing. But if you like mortal combat than this game is for you! Gandalf even has a killing manoever.

The biggest problem with this game is the saving mode. There's no way to name your own saves, and when it does, it's deceiving because it names the slot after one of three "paths" that you played last even though it actually saves all of them. Plus, while there are "checkpoints" within the levels that allow you to start over in that place if you die, the only way you can save your progress is by beating an entire level. That means you have to devote yourself to a couple of hours of playing time if you want to make any headway whatsoever.
The beginning levels are fun, but they get frustratingly long and tedious. I think the developers stuck too close to the plot of the movie, and created a game that just goes on and on.
Graphics are great, and the sound is excellent, but this only rates average on playability.
