Best Game Ever; Until Oblivion comes...

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

This has got to be the best game ever in my opinion. As was Arena and Daggerfall when they came out. (For people not in the know, those were parts 1 and 2 in the Elder Scrolls) This game has an unlimited amount of fun playing hours. I've put in as many as 40 hours a week on this game. I've had it for almost 2 years and still play it about 8 hours a week. I've beat the main quest (Tribunal and Bloodmoon as well) yet its always fun to get side-tracked in the hudreds and hudreds of other quests. BEST GAME EVER!!! But of course I'll be saying the same thing when Oblivion hits! (Elder Scrolls Part 4 for the uninformed) This game is a definite buy as are the 2 expansion sets!

Great Game

Pretty much the title says it all. This game is evolutionary. It have already set the standard for all role playing games have to be. The open game play is a get idea. The player doesn't have to play the main story. You could do anything you want in this game its your chose.

It is recommend for you to get the book. Its extremely helpful on finding where you need to go and what do to. The game doesnt really do a great job in helping you.

Excellent game for the non-linear RPG comeback

WARNING: This game requires some pretty powerful hadware to run smoothly.

The first reason why I love this game is it's incredible flexibility. Be anyone. Do anything. Be the hero or the villan. Side with the corrupt imperial swine, or fight with the bloodthirsty resistance. The whole game is very open-ended. The random encounters with monsters while traveling moves up with your level, however many of the explorable interior areas are pre-set at a particular level, so you may have to hold back before wandering in there. Overall, the game is very detailed, down to the pots and pans in the pesants homes, with almost everything stealable. Each of the different races have their own accents, though I'm not sure why the bestiary races (Khajiit, Argonian) sound Eastern-European.

The game also comes with The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. The creators used this tool to make the entire game, and it's very flexible. This little puppy is the second reason why I won't be leaving the house for a while.

My only complaints are the lack of werewolves and werewolf curses (I certainly miss them from Daggerfall), but I'm sure a faithful end-user will code them in. Also whenever entering and exiting towns and buildings and parts of the landscape, the entire game freezes so it can catch up with you. This is merely due to my weak hardware, and the lower your system specs the worse it'll be.

The thinking man's rpg

First off, let me state this. This game is not for simple minded people. You must bare some intelligence and some roleplaying know how. If you want a standard diablo clone go after neverwinter nights (ok the dm thing is cool but the combat!). If you want a real rpg this is where it's at.

In the land of morrowind you play a released prisoner, you can do sevearl things when you reach the land. Become a guard, explore vast lands, do quests, or find out your mysterious release. There is one main story and about 400 other side quests just as engrossing. You can specialize in whatever you want, a wizard rogue, or a warrior knight it's up to you.

The graphics, sound, exploration all come together beautifully, maybe the best in a game yet.

The game does get boring, but then you shrug it off and you continue on your path towards self destruction.

A MUST BUY FOR SERIOUS, INTELLIGENT GAMERS.

One of the best games ever!

I don't think I've ever played such a detailed, intense game. I'm pretty sure I've put in atleast 300 hours playing this game. Now the only downside I found was when I brought up the screen for the map, sometimes it froze. So make sure you save often. This game is great!! You can interact with all the characters and pretty much go where ever you want. I really don't know what else to say about this game except that it's probably one of the best I've ever played.

Snow, werewolves, and bears

This works fine on my computer. So far the plot could be better, but it's neat watcing the town get built. I had to go back and level up after getting mauled by a polar bear, but I'm looking forward to going back up there now that I've got some GREAT armor in an underwater cave near the south tip of Ebonheart. This expansion is worth it for the weather, textures, wolves, and bears. There are a couple of neat items, too.

I loved this expansion

apparently, the 1st guy to review this isn't much of a morrowind fan. and it is NOT as buggy as he makes it seem. he is judging the game before ANY kind of patch is created. he wants games to be PERFECT the first time, no patches. This game has alot of new content. 2 ways to do one sidequest, a great mainquest, a werewolf sidequest, plus, bethesda has improved dreams, now theyre CUTSCENES. i admit, there are some problems, but werewolfism has yet to be eclipsed by mere bugs. i advise you to buy this, because a wave of usermade mods will probably improve your already awesome experiance.

Looks like a real open ended quest

I am impressed by the game. It is less linear than other games.
I have had it for about a week, and find it quite addictive. The learning curve is not too steep, except for the combat episodes, but even then, it is relatively easy to learn.
The manual however is too sketchy. There is (of course) a book, where I guess the rest of the information is found. I find it very annoying that the software companies keep making a bare bones manual, that almost forces you to have to buy the strategy guide. There used to be a time when the strategy guide was something you got when stumped. Oh well, I guess I'm old.
All in all, one of the best RPG I have played.

A good conclusion to Morrowind main quest

Being that Morrowind is one of the best games I've ever played, I thought I would give Tribunal a try. Glad I did. This is not simply a Morrowind redux. Tribunal is smaller and centered around a single city, doesn't allow for much roaming, and doesn't have the variety of creatures, items, factions, and quests as the original game. But for an expansion, it certainly has enough. I thought the Tribunal main quest was quite interesting, especially how the underground parts of the city unfold as you progress and your role in some grand schemes becomes clearer. My warrior character, who started Tribunal at 33rd level, died many, many times, so there shouldn't be any lack of challenge for most gamers. The city itself is beautiful, and the quests more interesting than many of Morrowind's. Tribunal's main quest should be good for about 30 hours of gameplay, and the side quest should add several more. Due to the linear, concluding nature of this expansion, it will not have much replayability for many people. However, considering the current price, the fact that the expansion adds some nice shops and items, and many mods that you can download require Tribunal, this is definitely a worthwhile gaming experience and investment.

Big disappointment

I've been an avid gamer since the 70's. Starting with the original box sets, and happily embracing CRPG's as soon as they emerged.

I was intensely excited, awaiting the arrival of Morrowind in my local retail store, and quickly bought my reserved copy as soon as it arrived.

Imagine my great disappointment when I discovered the game was all hype - and no substance.

First; awkward two-handed character control (one on the mouse for steering, and the other tied up on the keyboard to supply forward - or backward motion) BUMMER!!!

Second; clunky, ram eating, gameplay. Some folks may not mind waiting while scenery changes freeze, then take forever to load, but I'm not one of them.

I was really counting on Morrowind to feed my habit until Neverwinter Nights arrives, but no such luck.

Oh well, back to Diablo.
