Morrowind-A Code that should never have left the factory

My family has installed many games on our computer. It is a relatively fast one with 1000MHz processor 32 MB of video memory and 512 MB of main memory. All games have worked perfectly out of the box- we have installed updates with no trouble. UNTIL NOW. MORROWIND NEVER WORKED. No matter what patches we downloaded, what tweaks we made to WindowsXP, it NEVER worked past the first 75 seconds of the game. A look at their website will show you that we are not alone. THIS IS A BUGGY CODE and should not have been released until it worked on any computer they could try- from super fast to just ordinary...
Frustrating!!!

The graphics are really impressive when it works. Three words of advice for those of you who haven't bought it yet: Crash, Crash, Crash. When you pick up certain Items; A message appears and states "Your game will Crash Now" click OK and the game crashes. I don't find the humor in scamming people out of hard earned money.
A colossal, horrific failure- DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

I will echo the words of so many others who have made the mistake of purchasing this "game." My system exceeds the "recommended requirements" printed on the box, and yet the game, when it runs, runs horrificly.
for example:
1: every time you enter a new region in the game, gameplay stops for solid minutes while the new region loads.
2: Every time I approach an NPC to interact, the game locks up for at least 60 seconds, while it loads whatever snippet of info the NPC has associated with it.
3: The game will sporadically lock up for 2-3 minutes, for no apparent reason.
4: Loading a game takes around 5 minutes.
5: support is horrible. Beyond the standard, weak advice to "load the most recent graphic card drivers and re-install direct X 8.1", there is zero- I repeat- ZERO customer support available.
6: the ingame graphic engine causes my geforce 2 to lock up, even when the game is played at 640X480.
Geez- I could go on- but I think the above 6 examples (which- trust me- are the very tip of the iceberg of faults that this game comprises) are reason enough to avoid this. Playing this game is neither fun, enjoyable, or even tolerable.
Furthermore- after un-installing this game, my copy of CREATURE ISLE no longer plays properly. It's rare that a game comes along that actually does DAMAGE to your system...
Big disappointment

I've been an avid gamer since the 70's. Starting with the original box sets, and happily embracing CRPG's as soon as they emerged.
I was intensely excited, awaiting the arrival of Morrowind in my local retail store, and quickly bought my reserved copy as soon as it arrived.
Imagine my great disappointment when I discovered the game was all hype - and no substance.
First; awkward two-handed character control (one on the mouse for steering, and the other tied up on the keyboard to supply forward - or backward motion) BUMMER!!!
Second; clunky, ram eating, gameplay. Some folks may not mind waiting while scenery changes freeze, then take forever to load, but I'm not one of them.
I was really counting on Morrowind to feed my habit until Neverwinter Nights arrives, but no such luck.
Oh well, back to Diablo.

when i first got this game i noticed that the graphics, sound, and over all game play were very well done, the graphics were smooth and steady. the first problem i had was the stuttering in the animations but that is not all that bad. after playing for a day i turned of the computer, the next day i started my computer and found to my utter shock that i could not play morrowind. it had corrupted all of its font files, sound files, and slowly started to corrupt many of my other files that had nothing to do with morrowind at all. i could not uninstall the game, nor could i delete the file it was in. after many hours of trying to get around it and remove it the only option i had was to reformat my entire hard-drive. this game is very problamatic and possibly dangerous to a computer. if you still wish to play crpg's i reccomend the baldurs gate series, icewind dale II, or even neverwinter nights, (which had bugs but not as bad). save you money for something better that is fun and will not corrupt your system.

Unfortunately, I am one of the fortunate few for whom this game will not run regardless of what I do to remedy the situation. I find it deplorable that such a shoddy product could be foisted on the public.
Very, very, very, very, very BUGGY!

Absloute [junk]! Opened this game up it wouldn't even read on my HD. It was missing a data.cab file on the main CD and on the Contstruction set CD my CD ROM couldn't even read the disc and gave me a message to call some guy at Bethesda complete with his extension number (and yes my CD ROM is working just fine it reads every other disc I own without a problem). I would NOT get this game till the ant hill of bugs obviously infesting it are worked out.
TOO MANY BUGS - Not worth the hassle!

Morrowind looks like a game with a lot of potential - unfortunately it is so buggy as to be unplayable. Unless you have a system with specs that exactly match the specs the software developers used, don't expect to be able to play this game. My machine meets all of the minimum and recommended requirements, and the game crashes immediately after character creation. Which, of course, makes it impossible to play.
My recommendation - don't bother buying this until the first 5 patches have come out. Until then, it's not worth the trouble.
If you want a game that works out of the box: DONT BUY THIS

If you've played many pc games in your life no doubt you are quite used to buggy games that don't work of the box. It's something I guess we better get used to as more and more games are shipped out in this sorry state. I guess it's too much to ask
for a[n expensive] game to actually work correctly.

...I urge anyone considering buying this game to read through [The official Morrowind tech support forum ]. In its current state the game is horribly bug-ridden, to the point of being unplayable on many computers that should be more than capable of running it. Bethesda Software... refuses to admit some of these bugs even exist.
