It took a call to UBI to install this game. They told me they are having trouble with the program called Nero so I was told to delete it, I did this and it still would not work. Another call to UBI. I had to shut down all background programs. It worked! and the game itself is great I do recommend it.

Brother's In Arms:the road to hill 30 is simply put a superb action/tactical shooter. Crisp, colorful graphics and excellent gameplay are just a few features of this true next generation game. It is highly recommended for any WW2 buff or anyone looking for a change in the usual run of the mill FPS.

I can't even install this game as it fails on install claiming that I don't have a video card. Maybe they forgot that not everyone is still using AGP cards (or maybe it is my 64 bit AMD proc)? Either way, tech support has been slow in getting back to me. If you are using newer hardware, you are rolling the dice on $50.
Not as good as Call of Duty

This game is OK. There are no major flaws in it. The squad control element gets a bit tedious at times. While it is fairly easy to give commands to your squads, they don't always follow them well. When members of the squd die they usually just re-appear for the next mission. This dosn't help make the game feel real. I think Call of Duty did a better job drawing the player in and making them feel like they were really in WWII.
The combat in Brothers In Arms is not bad, it's just not great. One thing I was pleased to see is that while aiming a rifle it moves slightly just like in real life. I did feel that it was a bit too inaccurate, but this is a nice feature that should be implemented in more shooters. Also crouching did not seem to improve the aim any. Another nice feature was after trying a mission a number of times it offers to heal and start from the last checkpoint.
In mutliplayer there are 1-2 real players per team, and AI players as well. There are goals set at the beginning of a round for each side. Similar to Counter Strike. If you join after the round has started you get to watch and wait until a new round starts. If you are killed you can take over one of your AI players. Online play is not as fun as Call of Duty for me, although it would be good for LAN play.
I gave this game 3 stars because it is a decent playable game. It is not terrible, but not great. If you are looking for a WWII gaming experience buy Call of Duty. If you already have Call of Duty, and are looking for something new, wait a while for the price to go down on this one.
Didn't quite live up to the hype.

I'm not sure if it's because I've had my fill of WWII games or if this one really wasn't that good, but after playing it for about 3 hours I finally just quit. (something I never do)
From the reviews I had read BIA was supposed to have awesome gameplay and incredible AI.
It was after a couple of instances where I had ordered my men to take cover behind easily accessible rubble or boxes and instead they had run wildly into the middle of a field and been mowed down that I just got way to frustrated and couldn't handle it anymore.
The graphics are on par with some of the other games of the genre and you wont be dissapointed but you probably wont be amazed either.
The game play is interesting in theory but once I got into the game I started to realize just how poorly implemented the idea really was.
This game is not a full on action game like Day of Defeat or Call of Duty, it's a little bit of First Person action entwined with a bit of realtime strategy. Sounds like fun and apparently most people liked it but I'm one who needs a bit more depth and a bit more polish in the games I've played.
By now, however, there may be a patch. Might be worth checking into before purchasing this game.
What is this????

Excluding the graphics, it looks like this game came out in 1998. I was not impressed with it at all. I got tired of it after 10 min. First of all when you shoot at the enemy, is it just me or when you hit them, they kneel down and heal. Oh yeah, those enemey locaters are anoying. It takes several rounds to kill the enemy when your at range and the aim of the gun it terrible, it moves around a lot. The whole concept of ordering the troops is nice but it could have been better. The only thig I did like was the new graphics and character textures, it looked real almost. Anyway Call of Duty sure takes the prize over this game. All I have to say to the developer is "BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME"
more of the same crap

I got one question to pose to the ww2 game developers of today. Can you play from the axis side? The answer is almost always, and unequivocably, NO. The only fps game that allows you to commit this apparent hubris, is battlefield 1942, which i have played to the bone. If you don't wanna play as some goodie goodie g.i., fightin' them evil krauts or japs, then you're outta luck. For once i'd like the option of playing as a mean imperial japanese marine, or a tough grizzled german paratrooper. Too much to ask?

I'm getting really tired of this stuff. At first it was fun, with Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. Then, just like when you chew a bubble gum too much, it starts to lose the taste. Still, I enjoyed Battlefield 1942 a lot.
However, I had enough of this. The 3 games I mentioned above have covered almost every major battle of WWII, from Berlin, to Normandy, to Stalingrad, Tobruk and El Alamein. There's nothing else games can do about WWII. We've seeing it all- except as games where you can play the Axis. (But EA and others care more about marketing and politically correctness, that we'll never see that happen.)
To sum it up, I've blow up way too many Anti-Air guns, rescued too many British prisioners, and stolen too many secret documents. The mentioned games had taken me trough D-Day a couple hundred times. I've had enough of it. It's not fun anymore.
You don't believe me? Then remember my review when you're parachuting into Normandy for the 85457th time, and ask yourself, "Am I playing this because I want to see how it ends and I enjoy it, or am I playing this to justify the money I spent on this and don't really care about what happens?"
For the game developers: Any new ideas?

The moment i had this game in my hands, i was in heaven. The moment i played this game, i had tears in my eyes, and i was so exited, it wasnt funny!! Finaly a game that is reallistic, WITH OUT CROSS HAIRS!! The cross hairs make the game all the more fake. So to aim accurately you have to look down the sight. And you cant run while looking down the sight, making it more authentic. The gun noises are the most accurate ive ever heard, just like the real thing. This game also has the smartest A.I.'s ive ever seen. They take cover and are really accurate.
There is so much more i could say about how good this game is, but ill let u find that out.
brothers in arms is living history

this is an excellent ww2 game-it is difficult and challenging-the squad tactics are fun and easy to use and the AI of the germans is very good. the guns are realistic. this game is living history and it's fun to read about cole's charge in history books about normandy and then play it out on the video game here.
