This game rocks! It really does. When I saw reviews n' stuff on the internet to convince me it sounded good, I ordered it. I wasn't even into spiderman. Alot of fun levels filled with characters from the comic book and even a few special ones (symbiote, monster-ock). The replay value for this game is very good. Aside from the main adventure, you could collect comics, costumes n' stuff. I think you need an expansion pack to fully earn all the costumes because I beat the game a number of times now and I only earned 3. My personal favorite is the costume with the STEALTH mode on it so you could replay the game without the enemies seeing you and attacking, (so you could see what they do when they're not really vicious)I love fighting the boss's which include: Scorpion, Rhino, Venom, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus and more!!!! I can't get into that much more right now but I highly recommend this game.
Thankyou :)
It passes the time... and that's all I ask

What surprised me most when I first popped this cartridge into my system and turned on the unit, was how much of a likeness that the game bore to 'Maximum Carnage,' the title that was Spider Man's foray into Sega Genesis. Although it's been awhile since I've played 'Maximum Carnage,' I distinctly remember how Spidey and Venom looked in that game, as well as how the story went. It seemed as if attempts were made to just simply adapt 'Carnage' to Nintendo 64, Sony Playstation, and Game Boy Color. The only differences I could see between the games, other than the more straight-out fighting style and lack of big name villains, was the fact that 'Carnage' was only a partially 3-D game with more of an emphasis on battling villains then on travelling throughout the three dimensional background and swinging from building to building. Even a few of the early villains look a bit similar.
What I next noticed was just how of an all-around solid game it was. I was completely enamored for the first three or four levels before I began to notice the occasional flaws and inconsistencies. The first level, just a really simple swing from building to building, is a testament to not only the beauty of the graphics, but how smooth the game runs, and just how fun it is. Even the voices of the characters were done beautifully, and original Spider Man creator Stan Lee's commentaries at the beginning of each level ('Looks like everyone's favourite wallcrawler is in a bit of trouble') was just a real cool touch.
From there though, I began to discover little things about the game that just bothered me a bit. First was the occasional glitch in the game. Although their occurences were few and far between, they did ruin the mood of the game. Most of these glitches occured while using the dome of webbing to protect Spidey. Oftentimes the webbing would just randomly float in mid-air, just sitting there. But, no biggie, no games are perfect.
Second was the weak storyline. I found it a little hard to understand what was going on throughout the game. The story just seemed to jump at random from being attacked by Rhino to fighting off symbiotes with the help of Venom. I was pretty confused at a couple points in the game, even after playing through a second and third time.
Thirdly is how easy the game was. I had the game set on easy, so I can't make any conjectures on how the medium and hard settings are, but I was finished with the game in less then a day. I rented it Wednesday morning at noon, and had it beat after only about 5 or 6 hours of playing. However, even though it was pretty easy to beat, some replay value is given in attempting to go back through the levels and collecting classic issues of 'Spider Man' comic books in hidden spots.
And finally, my last and biggest complaint is the cut scenes. Since I had seen the ending for the PSX version of the game while hanging around in 'Electronic Boutique' (some guy had no life and just had to go through and beat it all - surprisingly it only took him a half hour, because other people had already reached the point he started at), I was expecting the same thing from the Nintendo version. What was a brilliantly funny cut scene from PSX suddenly became a poorly directed slide show of the same scene with captions below the photos. And it wasn't just the ending either, every scene between levels was in the same form of a slide show with captions below the photos.
Despite my complaints, I thought that this game was actually extremely fun to play and I'd still mantain that it's a solid game - if only somewhat more solid for PSX. I still do recommend Spider Man, because if nothing else, it's just a fun game that doesn't have too hard of a learning curve, and will pass the time exceptionally well.
The best Spiderman game.

This game has an extensive bunch of moves, maneuvers, special items, secrets and it has a huge amount of Spiderman memorabilia in it. This is a very detailed Spiderman game because it is a whole 3D world, you as Spiderman or one of his six playable alter egos can swing from building to building, hang upside-down, create a web shield, web the band guys or create web boxing gloves. Everyone is included, like Venom, Carnage, the Scorpion, Rhino, and a 50 ft Mysterio. You must beat them each in a unique way, rather than just beating them up. There are twenty-five levels, however, the big downfall is that you can beat the game from beginning to end in only two or three hours, which makes it like a movie. To add playability to the game you can pick up secret outfits, characters, 3D profiles on bad guys and even comicbook covers documenting the history of the comic.
Dissapointing

This game is OK, but there is one big problem with it. My friend brought his to my house the other day and I began playing it. And in, at the most, 2 hours, I beat it! No memory pak needed. There are only like 5 or 6 bosses in the game and the rest is just mindless slinging from one thing to another killing all the baddies. There are so many mini little puzzle type things that are just too easy and useless. He brought it over again last night and I beat it again--on hard difficulty. This game was a great idea, and the graphics and sound are great... but c'mon guys, you coulda done better than that.
Pretty Cool!

Spider-man is a Good game. Most N64 fans say that the controls are bad, but I think they are O.K. When I first bought it, I couldn't pass the 8th level. But I went to a site and got some cheat codes! It is so FUN NOW. Get the cheat codes! they have about 25 levels! and also get cheat codes for making Spidey invunerable, and unlimited webbing, opening all levels.

Spider man was made by the same people as Tony Hawk. If you have ever played Tony Hawk's Proskater, you know how addictive it is. This game is just as addictive. Unlike Superman 64, there are very few glitches. If you want to beat the game without cheats, beat it first without even looking at the codes because the cheats make it too fun to ever go back. One con is that the webslinging from building to building is 2-dimensional. It is easy to overcome this though. Other than that, it is a very fun game. I do think they shpuld have made a cheat to become Venom because Venom is awesome!
Best Video Game EVER!

Most games based on Superheroes are bad and do not include all of the heroes moves. Spiderman has all the moves from super strength to spidersense and is an excellent game. You can not only play as Spiderman, playable characters include, scarlet spider , capt. univrse and much more.I found this game similar to the original Fighting Force on PSX. Spiderman sports nice graphic, sound ,play control, and is very fun. It is a must have for spidey fans, but even others may love it.Try it, it is a great game.
Fabulous Game

The N64 has been dying a slow death in the past few months, and good games for the system are few and far between. This is one of the last good games the system will see. This game does so many things right its hard to recognize the annoyances. The graphics are nice, definitely some of the best i've seen on N64 as of late. The control takes a while to get used to, but I think that some people overexagerate when it comes to the control. It's really not THAT hard. The sound is great, the amount of voices in the game is spectacular for a N64 game. I am really suprised that they could fit it all in one cart. The replay value is astounding, swinging around and crawling on the ceiling of buildings will never get old I don't think.
Now we get to the bad parts. As I mentioned control could be a MINOR issue for some people, but it's no biggy for me. This game is odd in a way that, instead of getting better as the game went on, it seemed to get a little more drab, once you get to exploring the interiors of buildings and not being outside and able to swing around, it gets kinda boring. I also felt the game was WAY WAY WAY too easy, even on Hard difficulty. My 7 year old nephew can beat it all the way through on Normal without dying more then twice. The bosses were rather drab. Take Rhino for example, pretty much all he does is charge at you. Now maybe thats all he does in the comics, I dont know, but it would have been better if maybe he did something else as well as his charge. Doc Ock is not much of a boss of the entire game, and Carnage is an absolute joke. The only truly challenging boss is the second form of Doc Ock, and im sure thats only because its too frickin dark in the tunnel to see where your going.
Even with these downsides, the game still is great, and stands out as one of the best non rare/non nintendo games for the system.

I know that a lot of people think N64 is totally outdated but when you play this game it just brings back that old time fun.If you're a Spider-man fan and you like video games then this is the game for you. You can web sling, crawl up walls and even lift up huge and heavy objects such as heavy chairs and bombs that are five times your size. Your attack moves consist of k.o. punches and lightning fast kicks combined with classic capture webs and impact webs. As you travel from level to level you will encounter tons of bosses such as Scorpion, Rhino, Mysterio, Doc Ock, Venom and Carnage. This is one of the best games I've ever played on the N64 and maybe even on any system. This is a must have game for a Spider-man fan.
