Golf made Fun, at last

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 5

Mario Golf is a surprisingly great game and easy to learn which makes it great for multiplayer matches. It is also great for single player as you must beat better and better competition to move forward. Get points by winning tournaments and gain access to new and challenging courses that test both your accuracy and patience. Despite the fact you are golfing with monkeys and lizards, the game is fairly realistic with different terrains, wind, etc.. If you are looking for a game to play with friends or on your own, I highly recommend Mario Golf as an enjoyable experience and a game to certainly add to your collection.

What next, Mario Theme Park?

This game had it's pros, and it had its cons. Pro - fun for everyone, good clean fun Con - nothing really to difficult, just making sure you stop the line on another line. Pro - Lots of different ways to play, you can play tournaments, or practice, putting challenges, and you have to get birdie badges. Con - Usually Mario is the bomb guy, but in this game he's a really bad golfer :} But overall, this is a good game, that a five year old can play, so go out and get your copy today!

What about "Create A Golfer"

I throughly enjoy playing Mario Golf as you are able to apply alot of the shots (back spin, fade, draw)that you would use on a real golf course. I feel that the "thought process" you have to go through for each shot(wind, lie, elavation)will help improve anyones real golf game. My problem is that I'm a left-handed golfer and I have to think the opposite when applying a draw or fade. Some Nintendo games have a "Create a Player" option. If I could switch my golf character to shot left-handed this would be a 5 STAR game.

BEST GOLF GAME EVER

If you are looking for a fin golf game, look no further. It is as fun as a golf game can get. It uses the standard controls and has a feature where you can look up close to where you are going to hit the ball. Mario Golf is NOT to easy. It's nice and challenging. Expecaly Bowser. It will keep you entetained for a long time.

Mario Golf is really a great N64 golf game. The gameplay is easy buy challenging, and the physics engine is very good. The review from "A gamer from Toronto, Ontario" is inaccurate in that you can switch the handedness of the golfer; hold the L or the R button down when selecting a player to set any golfer to left handed. I think it correct that you can't build a completly new player, but Mario Golf is really loaded with all the options you would expect in any golf game.

More than worth the money, especially with the GBC version

If you have any interest in video golf whatsoever, you need to get this game. Nintendo has succeeded in making a golf game that is fun and challenging for young and grown-up people alike.

There are several different types of play in the game. You can play by yourself in tournament mode, in head-to-head mode against the computer or other golfers, in ring mode, speed mode, or in mini-golf.

Tournament mode is the big one - you start with a variety of Nintendo characters to choose from and one course to play on. Completing rounds earns you experience points, which are used to unlock other courses and characters. You also get trophies for finishing in the top three and Birdie Badges for getting a birdie (or better) on a hole. As with similar games, your goal is to unlock all courses and characters and collect all the badges.

Head-to-head mode provides another method of unlocking characters. Beating a character in match play enables you to use it in the other modes. The game also saves your records with each character against all the others. The best play with this mode, though, is against other players. You can set handicaps, bet on each hole, the front nine, back nine, closest to pin, longest drive, and you can even play slot-machine golf, where each player gets only a random wood, long iron, and short iron for each hole - if you're lucky and get three stars, you get the full complement, but if you only get one star, you get one fewer club. Try playing a par-5 hole with your longest club being a 4-iron!

The ring-shot mode is challenging as well - you must hit your ball through one or more rings on the course and finish the hole in par or better. Clearing rings will unlock characters as well. If you think the first few tasks are easy, they will get tougher as you advance! Character-by-character progress is saved for this as well.

Speed golf is interesting - your fastest times on each course are saved, along with your corresponding scores - but not quite as much fine. Mini golf is included as well, but without any rewards I noticed.

If you think this is a good game so far, wait till you play the Game Boy version as well. You can use the Transfer Pak (sold separately, for some reason) to move your Game Boy character to the N64 version, where you can use your experience to build your character. This is essential for mastering the harder courses and beating the top golfers - your GBC character can become stronger than Wario and hit the ball straighter as well. You can also pit your characters against your friends' characters or trade them (if you're so inclined). Finally, you can send your N64 status back to your GBC and view it in more detail there - you can see each character's best score on each course.

Even without the GBC version, this is a top-flight golf game in its own light. Add the Game Boy Color version and a Transfer Pak and you have a keeper.

I am NOT a video game fanatic. Actually, there are very few games that I even like. This one though, I can truely enjoy. Eight cool courses (two of them mini-golf!), secret characters, its all good. Should go on the wish list of one even if they call themselves a medicore gamer!

Wailliae is better

In my humble opinion Wailliae golf for the N64 is the best golf game out there right now. This game has great graphics and neat additions but it sacrificed too much for the cute factor. Buy the aforementioned golf game, you will not be sorry.
