Golf with a Mario twist!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 3

This game without a doubt, is the best golf game ever. Easy to figure out play control gets new players hooked quick, yet the multiplayer modes and all sorts of other challenges in this game make the replay value extremely high. What this means, is that Mario Golf will continue to bring exciting fun to the player for a long time. And heck, thats just from the golfers perspective. An avid Mario fan will absolutly fall in love with this game. Everything you would want is here, from smooth rich graphics, to soothing music that really sets the mood for the shot! And the mini game mode also adds a touch of quirky fun to the game. This is the best golf game out there hands down.

Mario Golf is worth the frustration

Mario Golf is one of those games that requires two or three friends and a couple bottles of [root] beer. It is by no means action-packed or furious. Yet it somehow is so darn fun you can't put it down. Plenty of modes to play (for single and multiple players), lots of courses to play on, and a large variety of characters to play with. It's an acceptable cartoonish look mixed with real golf rules and tactics that, overall, becomes very acceptable. Mario Golf is NOT just aiming your character and letting fire, however. It requires a lot of precision and taking into consideration the landscape, the weather, and even your character's habits. Fair warning: Mario Golf is very frustrating. Imagine hitting your ball into the rough EVERY time. Or getting stuck in a sand trap. Or missing a very easy putt that could have easily won you the game. -- Well, if you're looking for a more calm game, one that will require you to use some geometry skills and allow you to make fun of your friends... get this! You don't have to like golf to love Mario Golf. I promise.

Four!!!

Not that many golf games in the video game industry can actually sell very, very well. Most of them use a major player's name, and suppose to have their "skills" in the process. Not that many of them can have a strong sense of enjoyment in the golf world, where everyone wants a more serious side in the sports world with football, and basketball. However, Nintendo seemed to hit the nail on the head with their 2000 creation.

With Mario Golf, the game consists of the start of four golfers, including Baby Mario, Peach, and a couple of others. Throughout the game, you can access the Get Character mode, which can help you challenge other characters like Mario, Bowser, and Yoshi. Once you win the character, you also need them, the harder the challenger in the round. It is also important in the Tournament mode, where you can also earn enough points toward newer golf courses and challenging holes in the process. Each course reflecting on the cute, Mario Brothers themed style, which makes it appealing to all ages old and young, where the other games don't seem to have that sense of enjoyment.

Although Nintendo stopped making games for the Nintendo 64, Mario Golf is only one of the very few sports games I highly recommend for the system. Although many people might not see the review, because of the newer game system reviews and newer games of the Gamecube, Xbox, and Playstation 2.

While I agree with the other review I read, that the physics of the game ROCKS, what's with all the RAIN! I mean, it's like every other hole it's raining. I'd like to outfit my character with scuba gear!

Who thought that a Golf game would be fun?

I was skeptical when I first rented this video game. I never thought that anything related to golf could be interesting- and ironically I ended up buying this game a day later and playing it for hours and hours, hopelessly addicted to it. Mario Golf has many different playing modes to entertain you - Tournament (challenging tournaments where you compete for the gold cup), Play for a Character mode (to unlock another character) and many various speed trials. The characters are the classic Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Bowser, Wario, etc, plus a many more new characters (kids, snobby golf experts, slick pros). This game is challenging but not too hard (don't worry, no golf knowledge is required). So, basically what I am saying is that this game is excellent- don't hesitate to try it out!

I thought NES Open would never be topped.

I was the biggest fan of NES Open, one of the last games made for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It was a golf game that featured betting, longest drive contests, and a tournament where you could name all your competitors. Most golf games I've played focused more on having a big name (i.e. Tiger Woods) than fun. But NES Open was great fun, and I thought it'd never be beat. I'm eating my words. Mario Golf is one of the most fun games, period. So many options...you can play the tournament, ring shot, speed golf, play characters and keep them, mini golf, skins and more. The suspense of the match game is the best. It's going to take me forever to achieve everything on this game. The ONLY complaint is that the mini-golf is really uncreative. Other than that...it's perfect.

When I first played this game, I knew next to nothing about the sport of golf. I rented it for three days, not only learning how to play golf, but quickly becoming horribly addicted to it.

A month later I now own this fabulous game, and I also play golf too, although my real game needs some work, Mario Golf doesn't. It's fun, challenging experience that everyone can enjoy. Bring over your three friends and play all night, it's the best golf game ever made.

more fun then the real thing and no greenfees

I have to say that Nintendo will never let me down. This game will keep you up all night long, either unlocking course after course or a plethera of characters. You can play up to three friends and the trash talking can fly... but not as much as in Mariokart. It helps you pick a club as well as aim for you, but you have to choose where the sweetspot is to hit and calculate the wind as well as the slope of the green. My main problem though is that you have two humans to start off with, and Baby Mario and Princess for the Marioland characters. If you want Luigi, Mario, Yoshi or anyone else you have to beat them in order. You can't be Donkey Kong till you beat a lot of charcters and then DK himself. I can't wait to play Mario Tennis.

The Best Golf Game Ever!

Even if you don't like golf, Mario Golf is a fun and competitive Golf game that is fairly simple to play. And the rules are Easy to learn. But their is competition. You unlock more courses and players. Or just practice, play a simple 18 holes, or play Mini Golf. You unlock players such as Donkey Kong, Wario etc. and it gets more fun as you play because you understand it more. And it's really fun in Multiplayer mode. This isn't the PGA Tour, it's Mario and friends just playing Golf. I gotten to enjoy it so much I bought a PGA Tour game.
