I have been playing Mechwarrior and Mech Commander games for 5 years now. This game literly tore apart all the other Mech games. If you have a 700mhz computer then this is a great game. Any lower and the game lags and jumps. Plus, if you keep the graphic settings all on then the game does some serious lagging. That is the only bad part I can find. Overall it is the best game I have played (and thats a lot of games).
I have read many reviews were everyone hates low Drop Weight. I have no Problem with low Drop Weight. 450tons = 6 Timber Wolves (Madcats), now who has a problem with 6 Timber Wolves? The average DW limit is 320tons. Any expirienced person knows that 320 is more than enough. I use a mix of usually 1-2 Light Mechs, 1 Medium Mech, 3 Heavy Mechs. It is an able combination and makes drop weight problems low. Also the Slavage Craft helps with inmission reinforcements, there by making a low drop weight a low problem.
Slavage is pleniful thanks to the Slavage Craft. See Enemy Mech, Want Enemy Mech, Take Enemy Mech, Use Enemy-Now-Yours Mech to blow up enemy base. That is how you use the Salvage Craft.
The Solo Campain does go by sorta fast though. I was at the last Mission before I knew it.
It can be jumpy because of the Graphics, then again a small problem easily overlooked by the games play, control, feel, new options and fun. For any New or Veteran Commander, I highly reccomend this game.
Pretty good effort

The graphics are good, the resources system is adequate, the interface is intuitive, the mech lab functions are great. The campaign that comes with the game is too short, but the game comes with a mission editor that allows players to create their own missions and even campaigns. You can download tons of additional fan-created campaigns from fan sites on the web. These additional campaigns essentially make this game many, many times more valuable.
If you like the battletech universe, buy this game.

I played this games mission out in a week, about two hours each day...it would have been nice to have more campaigns right out of the box, or provide expansion packs for retail...I stopped assigning light mechs and sensor mechs during game play because it was just easier to play with the assault mechs and capture a sensor capable one and fix it up.
Microsoft has the capital to develope these games better I think, when it comes to providing extended play...maybe starting over again on the same maps with varient missions and toughers AI's would help...I strongly think dounloading the player created missions is the only great aspect of this game because the create missions are from hungry gamers who know what everyone else is looking for in a game and to be able to create new missions is great...my only question is, is it possible to trade up Mech Commander 1 units to MC2?
Awsome

Mechcommander 2 is awsome. I myself Never had the pleasure to expierence mechcommander. I bought it and played it all night. The graphics were stunning and the camera rotation angles were even better. the rich stroyline further enhances the gameplay as you play the mercenary commmander. Also the can also appreciate the ease of the mech set-up options. I have played maechwarrior 3 and expierenced many difficulties in setting up the weapon systems. So I give mechwarrior 5 stars for just the fun factor I had playing it.
MC2 - A bigger blast than MC1

This game rocks!!
The interface was much easier to handle than MC1, and the graphics were vastly improved. The missions were definately more elaborate and alot more clear as to the objectives. New 'Mechs are always a plus, however the weapons have pretty much been the same. The 'Mech lab in MC2 was much eaiser to understand and allowed the user to organize the weapons on a 'Mech as he/she sought fit. I definately like the salvaging better in MC2, except the fact that you have to purchase busted and partially blown up 'mechs rather than gather them and repair them as you see fit. Over all, I would recommend this game to anyone who likes strategy/battletech games.
Great Game!

This game is one of the best games I have played. The graphics are incredible, and the action is great. The music could be better, but overall, this game kicks.

Mech Commander 2 is definetly worth the price. I have played through this game 3 times myself. The delicously fun mix of smashing other mech forces and building a personal army of trained killers is something that must be experienced. I enjoyed every moment and I would sit glued to my screen for hours. On the minus side a few niggles. Some of the great mechs of the Battletech universe are missing here, like the Nova and Enforcer III. Of course this is a problem with all the Mech Warrior games too so I can live. There is also a painful learning curve to begin with as one must get used to the strange line of sight and sensor rules. But once you have it anyone can be a mech commander. If you like small unit tactics and you like mechs, this is where your money should go.
Armchair strategy for the thinking Mechcommander

The first impression of this game is the 3D environment and slick graphics. You get to feel responsible for your warriors and find yourself feeling guilty if you get any of them killed and have to play the mission again. At the most difficult setting it challenges any age. The moody music gives you a sense of expectation. If you are into Battletech this is for all thinking armchair commanders. Strategy plays a big part in the missions. The only critism is that it takes a long time to load all those graphics unless you have the latest hardware.
What a short game!

This game will keep you on your toes the first time you play it, but it only took me 5 days to go through the whole thing! I tried to step it up one notch and go to normal dificulty instead of easy but I could not make it past the second level. Maybe I'm just not good enough. On a good note the game has tons of interchangible parts like rockets, lasers, autocannons, and sheilds that you can mix and match for every mission. If you have ever played the game Age of Empires, the game is a lot like that without the planting crops and building up your rescorses, just fighting and combat. So if you are looking for a game that will keep you entertained for a short while this is the game for you.
