I am a semi-devoted 2 year UO vet, and I am here to tell you that every expansion pack goes through the same "dead" period at the beginning. I purchased UO: Third Dawn when it first came out, installed it, and found it to be horribly laggy and bugged. About a month later, I decided to try it again on my new computer, and it works perfectly. The thing you have to understand is that for the first month or two, it has to "get settled in". After that very buggy stage, the game will work superbly. Therefore, I recommend that you wait about a month, until prices go down, then purchase this game. This will allow you to miss this horrific stage of its lifespan, and come in when it is reaching its peak. I know a lot of you are angry with the housing issue, but you need to get over it. I'm sure that, sooner or later, they will find a way to make a TON more space for housing. Perhaps an alternate universe? To review the gameplay, the adding of two new professions (the necromancer and the paladin) is excellent. I am glad to have magic without having to carry around those regs. And the new item properties are very nice. In the end, you can buy now, and suffer through the buggy part (which isn't too bad), or wait a month and miss the first-settler advantages (but not have to go through the 'new expansion pack' start). Either way, this is a great game.

This game when it first came out was simply great and remained great for a year or two and then they decided to "up-date" the game or to "improve" it which the 2nd age was a wonderful update but everything after that was down hill from there and the more they update it the worse they make it I realize there just trying to improve it but the game was better back before UO: Renissance came out and everything they have done since then including UO:R has been a major dissapointment and this new Age of Shadows update is without a doubt the worst one yet and i definetly suggest you not purchase this game unless you are already a UO player and are already deeply involved with a house(es) and extensive fortune if not play another game this one is as the title imply's only a shadow of it's former glory

I have been playing UO for about 3 years now, and got bored with it as of late.

Since the introduction of AoS, the fun factor has been totally renewed. The two new character bases (Necromancer and Paladin) are truly awesome, and have power all their own.

I would highly recommend this game for anyone who is looking to explore their first MMORPG.

Ultima Online is still the best online game out. I have been playing for 4 solid years. Ultima is going through some growing pains and changes , some people whine at anything. Things will settle down and people will adapt their comfort zone to again embrace their favorite game.

I have played this game for 6 years,but i recently stopped due to Real life related,then when i came back,it just got very and extremely laggy,im telling you this,cause i use cable connection,but for now ill just rate it as average,since they havent even fixed the bugs.

When everything gets fixed,thatll be different,but lets just give time to the time,and wait. It will be FUN again.

Customizable houses were the best part of this expansion

What can you say about Ultima Online? This game has broken more ground in the MMO genre than any other game. Other MMOs are to this day copying aspects of Ultima Online. Some MMOs are just about customizing your house and it is only one aspect of Ultima Online. The customizable houses are probably the main thing that has now extended the life of this game.

All I have to say is this: Ultima Online is the best MMORPG out there. Wow, Asheron's Call 2 and DAOC have better graphics.. thats nice.. but no offense to players of those games, they are HORRIBLE! I played both for about two months each... and I got bored. Been playing UO for at least 4 years now.

Don't buy it if you are looking for a house !!!!!!!!

Only a few hours after the release of Age of Shadows, the new landmass MALAS was completely full already. Do not buy it if you are hoping to find a nice lot.

Why do I still give 3 Stars ? If you already have a house, it is a great expansion for customizing its look.

Well I started playing this game before all of the UO grandeur, and that is what I truley miss. With each of the subsequent upgrades and patches, I believe UO has gone down in rank bringing it alas to the humble rating of one star. This newest version is perhaps the worst debacle to visit the virtual world that is Ultima Online, and to anyone who has witnessed the mayhem inherent to Age of Shadows will understand of what I speak. If you are knew to this gameplay experience then I tell you you have already missed the best of what was to offer and furthermore it will never return. This version of Ultima Online was a debacle from the point when I "preordered" it. With a slew of daily bugs and client crashes, I'm sure everyone who purchases this game will be quite disappointed. To those who have permanently quit the UO community I can't say that I blame you.

Oh and ask yourself: "I wonder why EA removed the daily opinion poll from the Age of Shadows website?"

Well, to start off with, I've played this game for sometime.. around 4 years. From all the games I have played , it is by far the most addicting. Age Of Shadows is a fairly good expansion to UO. It has been totally refreshed with completely new rules for combat and pvp, along with new customizable housing. Well they could have done a lot better with the game, but to think of it from "OSI's" point of view, they have to make the game so they please everyone, instead of a certain group of people < PvPers and Role Players>. Age of Shadows is nothing but new as compared to the other expansions. I couldn't give Age of Shadows a full 5 stars for a few reasons. They released it far too soon without going in debt with it. They still have many bugs to fix, and many details to give out to the players who have missed out on some. They lacked the information. Still, it is very very awesome game. Ehe, if you preordered it, I think you'll enjoy it. Until of course, another expansion. : /
