Fun, but really slows down your computer!

Having pets for your Sims is fun, but that's about all this pack offers. There are few new objects. I guess I expected more, with this being an actual expansion pack.

I never had much of a problem with the speed of my Sims until I installed Pets. Now, the game "hangs" at certain times (while loading a house, when a Sim turns into a werewolf, after a pet comes home from work with a promotion, etc.). It is very annoying, and the game overall has slowed to the point of it being unenjoyable.

I hope to get a new computer soon. Hopefully, that will help. But I wish that the minimum requirements on the box had been adjusted. Yes, the game will run with the minimum requirements. But it won't necessarily be fun to play.

A good expansion, but not a great one.

The Sims 2 Pets is the 4th expansion to the popular PC game the Sims 2. When they say the Sims 2 Pets, they're not kidding...that's really all this expansion pack has to offer. There are a few new items such as the atomic space-age furniture set, but other than that this expansion just focuses on pets. The coolest feature is by far the ability to create your own pet, a concept which is brilliantly executed. Designing pets has nearly as much depth as designing sims. You can make a custom cat or dog, or choose from dozens of pre-made breeds. But if you choose to create a pet, the possibilities are endless. You can change anything from eye color, to the size of its feet, to the fur patterns, and colors. There are also collars and different colored coats which you can unlock by playing through the game. This expansion was a bit disappointing though, especially considering what a great game this could have been. Playing with your virtual pets is not nearly as fun as what it's buffed up to be. You can basically take your pet for a walk, pet him, teach him a few tricks, and play fetch...that's about it. These interactions just seemed to get boring quite fast. It's still a good expansion, but they could have packed more into it, especially in terms of new objects. On the backs of most expansions it will say "125 new items", but on this one there is no such saying, because if I counted, I bet there would be 50-75 tops. So this is a good expansion which adds guinea pigs, parrots, fish, cats and dogs, but understand that it's strictly focused on pets. I love the Sims 2, but don't like how EA is basically just taking material from the 1st Sims and repeating it. For example, Hot Date for the original Sims is just like Nightlife, and the Unleashed expansion pack for the 1st Sims is just like this one. I'd personally wait and save your money for Sims 2 Seasons.

So Much Fun

I just recently purchased this game for my girlfriend to now complete her collection on The Sims. She loves the game and loves having the pets around the house. The game has plenty of dogs and cats to choose from. This is a great game to add to your Sims so I definetly recommend it

Best Sims 2 Expansion Pack Yet!

I am an avid pet lover, in real life, and I am now in my Sim Life too! This is the most fun and exciting Sims 2 Expansion pack so far. You can create your pets and train them. Training includes interaction with a Sim and the pet and it is basically like training your sim. You have to spend time and build them up. Then they will do the skill on their own, such as go on the toilet. I enjoy playing this expansion back the most.

The Sims 2 Pets - Best Sims 2 Espansion pack so far, in my opinion!

This review was NOT actually written by A. Thomas I have no idea why it says that name, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. This review was written by Brittany Barley.

The Sims 2 Pets is one of the most fun games I know of! It's so cool! I love making the pets! Especially with the unlockable codes that allow you to make pets with fur colors and patterns that wouldn't usually be seen in real life, for example zebra stripes, for dogs, and for cats. You can also unlock collars that aren't already there. You can manipulate the shape of the dogs and cats almost as much as you can with the sims! There's so many different features to choose from, and you can even choose whether you want a large dog or a small dog, and then it will give you a different list of breeds for each one. Like for the small dogs breeds list there might be beagles, and chihuahuas. You can even create your own breed, and put it into your breeds list as an official breed! Once you've created the pets, and their sim family, you can teach them all kinds of tricks, and even get jobs for them, like being a movie star or a Search and Rescue dog, and lots of other choices, just like for the Sims! The cats can even be toilet trained, so you don't have to take up space with litterboxes! You can do so much with the pets! You can even get birds and guinea pigs without even leaving their house! You just get a cage for the bird or guinea pig, and say stock, and it'll give you a list of types of birds to choose from! I look forward to coming home and playing this game every day, and although there are a few things that I wish they had, that was in The Sims Unleashed, there are so many things that weren't in The Sims Unleashed! I can't wait to get back to my family, with their cat who looks like a snow leopard, and dog who looks like a zebra! If you like The Sims and/or the Sims 2, and like/love animals, then your sure to love this very entertaining, and fun, high-tech computer game!

Fun but Involved

This expansion pack is wonderful if you are a hard core Sims 2 gamer. I could say 100 wonderful things about this pack. The only downside is just how much time and energy your sim must devote to the pets. So often the Sim has trouble keeping a job and taking care of their pets. The pets just seem very unruly. Other than that it's tons of fun!

Sooo Awesome

THis game rocks! If you haven't bought all of the other expantion packs like University or Night life ( like me ), you still get turn ons and turn offs, diagonal pools, diagonal, and octanganal walls, and custom hair. In this expantion packs you get PETS (of course), a way to make a wearewolf (I haven't done it yet, but one of my sims wants to be a wearewolf), plus other stuff. There is so much you can do with your pet train them, give them a job ( wich unlocks collars, and fur colors), and breed them. There are also smaller pets like birds hampsters and fish that you can't control at all, but you can watch and play with. You can't tell any of the pets not do something, but you can scold and prasie them so after a while they get the picture. also when you create a pet you can pick weather you want them to be crazy or calm, smart or dumb, and weather they like clean places, or messy places. If you have an already created family that doen't have a pet, you can buy an aleady created pet over the phone, or create your own at a pet store. Plus, if you have a family that doen't want random pets coming in their house, you can lock the gate, so pets can't come into your house. Over all this is a great expansion to get.

I have nothing negative to say

Get this expansion pack, if only for the new fences. You are now able to divide a room with just a line on the floor. You can now have the tv and the bed in the same room without disturbing your sims sleep. It's a new wall-less wall, that's just a line on the floor. The pets were a big addition and you may not feel that you need it but the additional features make it worthwhile. It's like Open for Business where every property was buyable <-- if your a sims player this will make sense to you. If not, then read more reviews.

This expansion was disapointing

The dogs and cats are a nice addition, but I just did not feel like it was worth the money. This does not feel like a full expansion. I would rank this expansion a little below University. So far here are my rankings:
#1 Open for business (I had more fun with this than any other)
#2 Night Life (This expansion probably adds more to the game than any other)
#3 University (Gets boring pretty quick)
#4 Pets

A sign of the death of quality?

While I have been a loyal fan of the Sims franchise since the release of the original I have noticed a growing trend with the latest generation, namely the increase of Stuff Packs and the decreasing amounts of content in the actual EP's.

From reading the forums I was quite surprised to learn that not only were we to get no new neighbourhood, the amount of objects had decreased, and finally absolutely no content regarding hair or clothing.

While I still feel that the game adds a fair amount of interactions and additional features, I feel as if we are now expected to pay a lot more for a lot less, as the EA franchise continues to squeeze more dollars out of their loyal fanbase to be able to add clothing and hairstyles. Something that is in a way expected with a major expansion pack.

Suffice it to say, if it wasn't for the copious amounts of Custom content available on the many fansites out there, the game would have become weary a long time ago.

Unless EA's plans are to run the Sims franchise into the ground by releasing more and more stuff packs I hate to say, I may not be a loyal purchaser of following expansions.
