Not Great. Mostly good for the scenarios and updates.

Unlike the very well received second update to Civilization IV, 'Beyond the Sword', this add-on adds very little to the basic game design. It's primary value is in the added scenarios, especially my favorite from Civilization III, the rise of the Roman Empire. Most apprecieated is the correction of the egregious lapse in the functionality of the cities list. In the original game, one could not drill down to cities from the list. Tsk, Tsk. The primary functional addition is the Warlord unit, which can convert into either an acadamy, super specialist, or, uniquely, an in the field commander. Unfortunately, this functionality is simply not as useful as the leaders in Civilization III, where a leader could be used to build an army, which, in ancient scenarios, became virtually unstoppable in battle, since their units never become obsolete. Of course, if you are a Civilization fanatic like me, the simple addition of the new civilizations, scenaries, and bug fixes is more than enough to make this worth while, even if you get the next new thing!

A mediocre expansion

While CIV IV is an excellent game the expansions are not so great. Sure the added content is always nice and the new game play really makes for an interesting and fresh take. But the increase in the AI cheating is just too much. What a shame because I would recommend CIV IV to anyone, it is just that good of a game, these expansions take it down a notch.

I must say I enjoyed this expansion pack a lot in filling in a lot more gaps that seemed to of been sitting in the game when I bought it. I do enjoy the additions of races and more complexity to building various things and working towards a specific goal. A+

If you like Civ 4... this is a great add on

I like Civ 4 and Warlords just made it better. I recommend both! Hours and Hours and Hours of enjoyment... just make sure your computer can handle it!

FUN but somewhat lacking in something?!

In playing the game recently, it lacks a earth vision of all civs in the game (dissapointment = unhappyness ): ) There are a couple of mods and patches to play a full earth vison but, still lacking. For the transition between CIV IV and CIV IV warlords the obelisk was in all civilizations, now it is a monument and the obelisk is now part of the egyption empire's special buildings. Feels cheezy when they can't think of anything else to replace from a expansion pack. Although warloards now have newer controls, I wish they could improve the technology a bit that can expand your financial controls insted of manipulating the tax rate, Maybe an inflation control mechnisim. This new problem makes expansion a problem if the title of the expansion pack is "warloards" (IF you conqure land, there goes your expenditures to inflation!) No matter the funny quarks another expansion pack for domestic issues could be made (Firaxis: $$$$$ Bling-Bling). Well the game is best I've seen in a while, but can there be a better control system for this Civilized Conquest?

It's an expansion of Civilization 4

If you liked Civilization 4, you will like Warlords. It doesn't add anything truly groundbreaking to the game, but it does give you a few new scenarios and tweaks.

excellent game

This game is great for the entire family. I love it, my kids love it. they play for hours. This game is very replayable because of all the different ways you can play. It is fune being able to get different technologies.

A Civ addict's fix

An interesting update to CivIV. The biggest change is not the addition of "great military leaders" but the reduction in the impact of many civ-specific units.

First Expansion pack for the Long Awaited Sequel

This expansion pack has made Civilization IV much much better...although it would have been nice if these features came with the original game ....it has greatly increased the fun factor of this game...atleast for another 6 months...there is word on a second expansion pack suppose to go a completely opposite direction of this one...I do kind off wish they made something other than the war aspect in this one...but I guess the second will be so much better now...give it a good balance...I like the fact that they included online part (pit boss) in this one...I wish they had more civs for this one...plus in a way if you wait until the second expansion everything in this expansion will be included..so its kinda a waste...but if u cant wait until then and if you area civ finatic like me..then you should get this one.
