I was new to hand held electronic games before I tried Brain Age and Brain Age 2. I also have Parkinson's. These games seemed an outlet for me to keep my brain alert and help with my eye-to-hand coordination. The exercises are easy, it is the time limits that add challenges. I found them challenging, especially when I inadvertently selected the harder version of a math activity.
These games have been beneficial for my needs. Issue I take is with the length of time it takes to move from exercise to the next one. It is frustrating to wait so long to move on. The redundancy is not really warranted. Also, I cannot use the speech feature because I get answers wrong because it doesn't recognize what I said. This is not just me. A friend who does not have Parkinson's has the same problem. Why does this program not allow more options for the stamps. I would recommend this and Brain Age 2 for older persons handicapped or not. I believe it delivers mostly what is advertized.

Brain Age is very easy to use and does stimulate the brain as advertised. The only caution is that one needs to write the numbers carefully so that the Nintendo DS will recognize the numbers. Otherwise a wrong number is inserted and results in an error. Other that that there are enough variations to keep the game interesting and stimulating. It is a very good game for brain stimulation.
Fun game to play 10 minutes a day.

I bought this game at the same time that I purchased the DS. It is perfect to play a couple of minutes a day but if you are looking for a game to submerge yourself with, consider looking somewhere else.
So so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The game is nice but as many people have pointed out voice recognition is really bad so I have opted not to do the challenges that required voice recognition. In regard to the handwritting is not as bad as voice recognition but it has its problems and some times you have to rewrite words or letters.
Overall I do believe is a good game to train your brain and has many fun ways to do it.
really works!

I got this for my husband... we both LOVE it!!! Even my 7 year old created a profile to play too. She has a harder time because the math and such are geared for adults... BUT she does much better than we expected!! This has been a great learning tool for her. She's been forced to learn some multiplication facts which she doesnt learn in school until next year!
We had some Couples over this weekend for our monthly "game night". We started off playing the standard board games... until someone noticed our Nintendo DS on the shelf. They asked "what's brain age?" So we pulled it out to show them. Before we knew it we were passing the DS around the table racing each other on math facts!! (top score on Calculations x20 is 14 seconds HAHA!!! Can anyone beat that? And there was alcohol involved! haha!!!) It was an absolute riot!!!
We look forward to buying Brain Age 2... but are waiting until we exhaust this version first.
