This game is great if you take the time to get used to the controls. You get points based on performance and you can use those points to buy items like different sets of golf clubs and clothes unique items that can affect gameplay. There are tons of courses and several different modes of gameplay. This game is very deep. As for controls you can swing the remote or use buttons like in a traditional golf video game. This game has quickly became one of my favorites.

Tecmo brang the popular PC online golf title "Pangya" or "Albatross18" as its called in the US to consoles for Wii. This version is based on story modes and local multiplayer as it has no online though. The gameplay is along the lines of Hot shots or Mario Golf with added features. The most noticable is the swing, you now actually get to swing to determine your shots accuracy. It works flawlessly, is a lot of fun, but also takes some skill to do perfectly(keep in mind you can also use the old button swing method if you liked that). Super Swing Golf also blows any other golf games away in terms of style of courses. You'll be golfing in all kinds of evironments from your traditional course to winter areas, deserts, on battle cruisers, and many more. Some other features not common in a golf game are the RPG elements. You can buy new clubs, clothing, and golf balls and level up each item as well as your character. Speaking of items I beleive this is the only golf game to include in-game items. You have various items to use in play such as "miracle sign" which displays the balls expected path during a putt, "silent wind", "nerve stabalizer" and other 1 time use items. The only downside the game may have is CPU opponents are very hard later in the game. You may have to go through a lot of rematches to win.
I just picked the game up 5 days ago and got 16 hours into it, its that good

Most of the other reviews here have given this game a fair shake-down. Yes, the storyline is cheesy, the characters are cutesy, the game-play is slow, and the controls take a lot of practice, BUT, all of this aside, and perhaps even partially because of these quirks, this game still gets 5 stars in my book for the seemingly endless challenge it provides. This is probably the most addicting game I have ever played (rivaled only by Pokemon). I have no idea how many hours I have put into this thing, but it has become a deeply entrenched desire of mine to finish what I started! I actually feel quite accomplished to have made it as far as I have; I have been playing this game on and off for about a year now and I am probably only 65% through it. The day I beat the darn thing, I'm throwing a party!
Starting the game is tedious. You will be terrible at it. Putting will be absolutely, unreasonably confounding. The controls will seem clunky. But for some reason, at least if you are anything like me, you will just keep playing and playing and playing this game and slowly, you will actually start to improve. Of course, as you improve, so will your opponents, so the intense challenge will continue, but at least you will know what you are doing more. Consistently, it takes many attempts to beat the computer opponents, but this makes every win and gain that much more satisfying. Plus, once you get playing with friends in multi-player mode, they will actually look at you in awe, for being able to putt accurately, chip the ball in now and again, and make so much bonus money with each shot! If you're a bit competitive, this makes all the practice worth it.
Bottom line? If you are exceedingly patient, like a serious and seemingly endless challenge, enjoy indulging in endearingly cheesy story-lines, like shopping for clothes and items, and enjoy a bit of tedium, then this game is for you. If you are not possessed of such a particular demeanor, you might be better served to look for a different game, as this one will probably be incredibly frustrating for you.
Fun Casual Golfing - Missing a Few Real Golf Features

Intriguingly, Super Swing Golf Wii is an example of an online, free multi-player game porting to a console and becoming a single player sports game. Known either as Albatross 18 or Pangya in its online world, the Super Swing Golf version for the Wii is strictly off-line.
In this Wii variation, there is a little bit of plot, but it really doesn't matter. You're on the fictional island of Pangya and there are evil forces at work. Really, this game is just about choosing a character, choosing a caddy, and playing golf.
There are a variety of courses to play on - you start with a few options, and more become available as you go. There are cool variations - snowy courses with icy lakes, desert courses where you hit through pyramid areas, rainy courses, cloudy courses, fairy tale courses. You can play tournament style and match play. There is a training mode to help you get started.
As you play well, you earn Pangya Points, which you then spend in the store. You can buy yourself new outfits, clubs, items and more. Each gives you some sort of benefit - more strength, higher accuracy, and so on. Some are special one-time-use items that let you calm down the wind, see visually how your putt will work, and other neat features.
The graphics are reasonably nice - it's obviously cartooney, but you see what you need to in order to play. The greens are shown with a grid full of dots, with the dots representing the slope of each specific grid. It works, although it's not as helpful as other golf games in determining slope. The camera views - showing overhead and target views of your shots - are OK, but again, other games provide much more complete fly-overs and detailed layouts of the hole you're playing.
From a golf point of view, the game isn't very accurate, either. When you swing, you literally bring your Wii remote up and then stop, waiting until you get to the right spot on the swing-o-meter. You press the button and then swing down through to hit the shot. It's very unnatural. The swing should be all one fluid motion and the game should know when you reach the top of your swing by itself.
Also, the pars set for some of the courses are nonsensical. A par should always assume you need two putts to sink the ball into the hole. The game doesn't do that - some pars seem almost randomly assigned.
Still, this game really isn't aimed at real golfers who want to practice their skills. It's aimed at casual players who aren't worried about accuracy - but who want fun watching their balls send out fireworks as they fly. While I don't see why a game can't be fun *and* accurate, I accept that game developers make odd decisions sometimes when making their games. For example, why do they have numerous "concept art" unlockables of barely teen girls in bikinis? How does this relate to golf? The mind boggles.
Fun enough to play with up to four players in your home, or single player, but do remember that this doesn't go online - and that it's not going to be as good as other golf games if you're looking for a realistic golfing experience. Well recommended for casual fun sports play.

I played the heck out of this game for about two months but once you quit playing it for a while it takes time to get your skills back so I haven't had much success going back to it and continuing my saved game.
During the time I played I won the entry level tournament and about 10 of the 18 hole courses as well as all the beginner on the match setting. I'd have to say my favorite part of the game was the 18 hole courses. You were competing against the computer but you didn't have to watch the other players.
I personally found the story cute and not over done and think a wide audience could enjoy this game. The controls were simple and the only real complaint I had was that switching from the three modes could be slow as the different screens loaded.
If I had a lot of time on my hands I probably could have played more of this game as it does take skill and a great deal of dedication if you want to go for, but alas, I eventually gave up.
So for me, well liked by a 32 year old female who just wanted a fun came to play that gives you a little bit of a workout (or at least you can use that as your excuse) but it is a bit too long for someone like me who can not play everyday for hours and see the end :)

I've never golfed "for real" in my life...but I do enjoy golf video games.
Anyway....I really enjoy the use of the wii remote in this. It gets me into the game. I'm still learning the game, but so far it's fun....albeit difficult and at times frusterating.
Anyway...it's a good game to get if you're into the golf games.

Pro:
-lots of unlockable material, characters, items, etc.
-whimsical and varied courses with different hazards, strategies.
-several play modes.
-more control than Wii Golf while less technically daunting than Tiger Woods.
Con:
-cutesy characters and graphics may not appeal to avid golfers looking for a game to play when it rains on the real course.
-less tools for shaping shots, adding finesse and other realistic touches.
I thoroughly enjoyed this title, after having played Tiger 07. The mechanic is diferent than either Wii sports or Tiger, but not all that dificult. I sponsor a Wii night at a local bar, and nobody who stepped up the console had many problems playing the game after a couple of holes. The putting is much more sound than Tiger, which was a deal breaker for me in Tiger 07. The opponents play well, which I like, because after three or four events in Tiger Woods you're smoking the ball 350 yards and beating Tiger himself handily. I was able to unlock several chapters and characters on just a weekends worth of playing. My father was even winning match events.
If you're looking for a less techinical game than Tiger, or are tired of the ease and lack of innovation in Tiger, this is a good title.
Take it at face value and be happy.

This game is unrealistic, corny, and slightly stupid at times but that's OK because it's fun. It's true that this isn't the most in depth game you're ever going to play. As far as adjusting your shot is concerned you can only adjust your power, direction, and ball spin. There's no option to do fades, draws, flop shots, or other more technical shots. This is all besides the point. This game is perfect for the Wii and playing with friends. It's easy to pick up, simple to understand, and solid enough to be considered golf. Look at Tiger Woods on the Wii and ask yourself if real golf is really fun? No, it's frustrating. I play golf and it took me years to get any good at it, Super Swing Golf will have you playing like a pro in a matter of hours unlike Tiger Woods which will have you cursing at the screen in a matter of minutes.
Single player can be a little annoying. The computer player will completely wiff on easy shots then repeatedly pull chip shots out of nowhere and beat you which can be highly annoying during match play. You'll think you've got a hole in the bag only to be robbed by the computer's ridiculous ability make nigh impossible shots. There are plenty of unlockables including clubs, outfits, and caddies which give you a reason to play through single player, you also earn points in multiplayer but not nearly as many as single player.
In summary, this is the perfect golf game for the Wii. It's really not fair to say it's not realistic because Tiger Woods stands as proof as to why the WiiMote sucks for playing real golf. It's not responsive enough to replace an actual golf club so why try? I'm only giving it 4 stars because they need to tweak the single player difficulty and it wouldn't hurt to polish the game a little but overall this is probably my favorite multiplayer game on the Wii thus far.

I guess I should be thankful for the negitive reviews as I have now picked up my favorite wii game for under 40 bucks (I own a dozen).
If you felt Warrioware was the perfect difficulty and Raymon's story mode was just the right length, this game isn't for you. If, however, you are looking for a challenging game that will keep you buisy for months, with great multi player value, this game is worth a try.
Ok so everyone complains about the inconsistancy of the swing. Well, GOLF IS HARD, so I simply call it realistic.(I can't wait until everyone trades in the new tiger woods because of its "difficulty" so I can pick it up cheep ;] ) After a lot of practice I can get a Paynga (perfect) shot about 95% of the time. Also the computer is usually pretty hard the first time or two you play them but if you have a little bit of patients they end up messing up pretty bad and are beatable.
If the swing just frustrates you too much, there is also a button mode option where you can unlock all the players and levels motion free, then return to swing mode for multi player.
And about not being able to skip the computers shots, again its all about patience. I perticualy like it becaue I can get a drink, browse the internet(I am writing this as I play) or better yet study how the computer does so well while you play.
This game is LONG! It is the only game that I have put 40 hours into(there is a game counter) and I still have less than 50% complete! I have tons more work to do and many more hours of enjoyment to get out of this game.
If you don't have ADD and decide to get this game I suggest going to gamespot dot com and checking out the FAQ, lots of good hints. Also before you ever buy a game check out the forums to see the discussion and see how many addicts there are, this game has lots!
Happy swinging!!!

I did not have any problems with the controls or understanding how to control this game or the Wii Sports game. I am also a big fan of Mario Toadstool Golf for the Gamecube, so I was pretty sure of what to expect. I admit that Toadstool golf is easier, but I find this game to be very enjoyable. I play with my daughters - and Eight, Ten and 12 year old. They all seem to have no issue grasping the concept and controls. It is challenging, especially on the green, were almost every putt seems to curve unpredictably, but will time I think we will be able to compensate for this. We have played it for about 20 hours now in total, and I think that the general concise in my Family is that its a winner...The love earning points to by stuff for their characters!
