I am 52 and have played many games but this is by far my favorite. I have been playing it up to 8 hours at a time. Most every other PC game I had tried failed to keep my interest or simply did not work. I am addicted to this one. If I was not retired I would probably get fired for stayin home so I can play this game. Fun way to learn ia bit about Mythology too.

Great follow-up

If you loved the original Age of Mythology- this is a great followup!
It would be better if the campaign part was a bit longer but it is still a great fresh addition to this game. The addition of the Titans adds a whole new dimension.
One can only hope that Microsoft will come out with another expansion with Celtic/Chinese mythology too!

Greatest Game I've ever played!

I've played this for 3 yrs. and this game is amazing. the graphics are great. i play random map and these are good things about it.
1) the different civilazations give u cool my th units whoever u r. here are some tips if your norse
if u play river nile when u advance to the mythic age u choose the god for jormund elvers. then have ulf sarks make like 3 doks and hve each dok produce 15 jormunds. (this shoud use around 120 pop.) now u should have about 45 jormunds. if u make them into groups of 5 or 10 and place them around the enemys side of the river you can keep the enemy from bording ships. also make some kraken or wtv the other naval unit should b. those can harass any ships tht do make it onto waters. this way now tht u hve control of the river u can delete some jormunds for pop. and make a huge army. u board those into transports and overwhelm the enemy. (i reccommend about 20 ballistas in the army bcause massed ballisttas are good to take the enemy out b4 they reach u.

here are greek tips.
i like to make around 30 gold collossus and put 10 into each of 3 armys. sorruond the oher 20 in each army with hoplites for cavalry protection. toxotes for infantry protection and cavalry of both types for infantry and cavalry. if u want also put some petrobolis in them.

for egypt players... sorry i've never played on egypt so your on your own with them.

Happy Conquering!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been playing this game for two weeks now and I can't stop playing it! Lots of fun and lots of different ways to play. Online with multiplayer or with the random map that is like a quick game. I played through the entire story and it was fun! I loved becoming the hero and the troops do what I tell them. Man this is cool....It (as a game) is not easy unless you want the easy setting because the Titan setting will spank you. You can get another chance right away if you don't make it. Anyway, the game is well worth the money and fun to no end. GET IT TODAY![.]

Not as good as Age of Empires

I really looked forward to this game, but a lot of it is bells and whistles with less substance and staying power than AOE. Sure the graphics are amazing, Whales and other sealife swim just beneath the surface of a lovely ocean, all of the new creatures look great and the Atlantean scenario is fun. But, when you are done with that, once or twice, the random scenarios get pretty boring. What happened to the random map generator? I could play AOE for hours, days even, and always be suprised by the landscape layout. I don't play against other people, so maybe that makes it more interesting, but that is one of the things I like about AOE, it is engaging single player stategy game that while remaining familiar enough to get really good at always offers variety. AOM is more of a power packed creature/hero slugfest.

Excellent Game, But Gets old

I've been playing this game a long time now for almost a year. It has wonderful graphics and great sound quality. After I played it for awhile and completed the campaigns I needed somthing new. For advice, DO NOT BUY THE TITAN EXPANSION SET IF YOU TRULY LOVE THE ORIGINAL. The expansion set is great with the big mighty titans to battle with. So the expansion set made it better. I also reccomend starcraft.

PROS: CONS: (there aren't many)
Graet sound quality Get's old quick
Great Graphic
Cp. artificial players all have
Playing in Mutiplaye the same stradegy which
online works well. is the main cause of the game
getting old
Instructions are east to follow
And you catch on quick

Campaign Story Line is put
together well

OVER ALL: A very well put together game
for kids and adults alike

Just for a note people looking for a better strdegy game I reccomend starcraft. In age of mythology your are more focased on the big things. But in starcraft you have to pay attntion to allot of just the little things in the game.
Thanks for listening.

Age of Mythology is a huge upgrade from Age of Empires: Age of Kings. First the graphics, sound, gameplay have been improved. To be honest I thought it was a big let-down at first, till I started playing the camplain. After that everything clicked. This play is just plain awesome.
(And a better than Warcraft 3)

Not much of an expansion pack, only exacerbates what was wrong with the first one

See my review of Age of Mythology for further depth.

When compared to such expansion packs as the tiny Starcraft: Brood War, the even tinier Warcraft II expansion, the hearty Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, and the massive Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge, this one is more within the realm of Starcraft: Brood War.

While Brood War only introduced some new maps, a new campaign, and some new units, this expansion pack introduces a whole new race fully playable in both skirmishes and the campaign. This race is reminiscent of the Greeks, only with more ancient units such as Myrmidons (think Troy) and more Cretan/Minoan looking architecture. This is Atlantis.

While the new race has its own new system of units, and a very unique form of worker which doesn't need to return to a drop-off point, this isn't enough to deter from the problem plaguing the original game. With the existence of all-powerful myth units and god powers, what is the point of having a human army?

This is only further exacerbated by the presence of Titans...

Rather than be restricted, a new ability is open to any race with enough resources to reach it first---they upgrade to some new "Age" above Mythic (I forget its name, I think it is called Titan Age) in which rather than change anything, they get a mound of rocks to place anywhere on the map. Then they send as many villagers as possible to work on it, and when it is done, a Titan springs up, different depending on your race and what Major God you have chosen.

While the Titan is not invincible, he may as well be, because with the short population cap you have, you're not likely to build enough units to withstand a Titan with an army to back it up. Titans are super effective against most all infantry, other myth units, and buildings.

Sort of changing a small problem from the first, God powers can be reused depending on what they are. For example, while meteor strike and earthquake and tornado and such an only be used once, the more base god powers like Trees of Gaia can be used up to four or five times (though not all at once)

And so the expansion pack not only doesn't change the flaws of the original, but exacerbates them with more super units, and the grossly overpowered Titans.

Awesome is all I can say

Well this is the second computer game I have bought for my computer and after reading the reviews I figured I couldn't go wrong. Well this game lives up to everything great and wonderful you hear about. I mean the graphics are wonderful, the scenery is fantastic and the characters are unreal. I like the fact that you get to take as long as you want to build your village and army. I mean it is basically up to you when you finally decide to fight your opponent on the field. It's hours of fun and very very addictive, I had no idea it was 5am when I finally had to make myself go to bed haha! I mean you really get into the game it is awesome! I would highly recommend this game, the only flaw (which isn't really a flaw for some) it takes up a lot and I mean a lot of disc space so if you have a lot of disc space then ignore that but if you don't have that much then you may want to check out the details on this game before buying it because it does take up a lot. A friend of mine couldn't play on his computer because he didn't have enough. Other then that BUY THIS GAME it is awesome and I promise ... no regrets! Just give up your social life hahaha!!
