Ok to fill an afternoon, but nothing mind-blowing.

Jack of all games is a good name, because you get jack of their games pretty fast. This game had alot of potenial. Viking legends and characters and an exciting history. The game is ok. It's alot of killing, slashing and hacking and for the most part seems to have no reason behind it. I like hack and slash games. But I like some reason for it. That's why I enjoyed the Medal of honour games. They are basiclly shoot everything but I like the missions. The character is a little tricky to control at times and if you are having trouble it will really annoy you. The sound is ok but the speech is excellent and probobly the best part of the game. The graphics are just a little clearer than the PSX so they have a long way to go. I would be wary of buying any Jack of all games titles. But maybe worth a rent.

Firstly for those of you who have written a review and complained that there were no guns in this game... well I would just like to say a big "Durrr..." to you, lol!!

Anyways moving on, I bought this game a few months back and didn't think much of it at the time. It looked like a cool game and guess what... it turned out it was!

I don't know what the other people are going on about in there reviews about the graphics, I think that their PS2's must be broken, well either that or they need their eyes checking.

The only annoying part to the game was the loading time in-between levels... but all good things come in good time don't they?

The multiplayer part to the game is ok, although I have found that players need to have some experience of the single player part to the game in order to have a fair and lengthy battle in multiplayer mode.

Over all a fantastic game, the weapons get amazingly bigger and better as you progress through the levels. A must have game for those who like to slash, hack and bash enemies to death. Weapons range from a choice of axes, swords, hammers, maces, and even dismembered body parts of the unfortunate enemies who come across your path...

I have been playing video games for many years. I was totally disappointed by this game. The graphics do not live up to the Playstation 2's capabilities. The character controls are lousy at best. You know a game is bad when the best part of it is the voice acting. When you start playing this title, the GAME makes you save your progress about every 100 feet, this gets old real fast and takes all the fun out of this "game". If you are in the market for a really good game, spend your money on Twisted Metal Black or NBA Street. RUN(E) away from this title as fast as you can.

The worst PS2 game I've played yet

Man this is the worst game I've had the misfortune of buying... I mean customer who'll buy it off me. Anyway the graphics take us back to that old PS game Akuji. While that's not all that horrible I thought I'd at least get Soulreaver graphics on a PS2 game! Also the brightness of the game is pretty low. Going in the water is horrible, you can barely make out your character! The load times are also longer than the single load time on NBA Live 2001!! Also the game seems to load at every minor junction. Just getting past the training portion I had to wait for loading about 6 times!! Finally the controls are not bad but nothing to write about, so I won't. Overall I was highly dissapointed with the game. More than I want my money back, I want those missed hours of my life back!

I've played about 20 levels through and LOVE this game

I just bought this game and have spent all night playing. The levels are fantastic! The creatures are WAY cool. This is an awesome game. I didn't see much advertising, so I picked it up on a whim, but I LOVE what I am seeing. You play a young Viking dude who gets to use lots of different weapons to bash skeletons and hel hounds and frost giants. VERY HOT. The controls are smooth, the frame rate is good and the sound is terrific!

I cannot believe I spent the money for this game. This is a gamers worst fear to buy a game like this one. A friend told me of a Viking game on a PC that was totally awesome and said it was a must buy. He must of meant some other Viking game called Rune: Viking Warlord cause this game was awful not awesome. The loading time, the crazy controls, the lack of a descent story are all reasons to avoid this title like the black plague. I mean it - the only reason I gave it one star is cause that was the worst I could. The best thing about this title is the time it gives you while it is loading. For instance you could clean your room, walk your dog, mow the lawn, paint the house, wash your car, and even sleep in the amount of time it takes between each level. This is really an awful title. Sorry if you already bought it.

Think 10 times b4 you buy this game...

The graphics in this game strongly reminds me of the PS 1 era. The character is hard to control.

There is nothing about this game that I like. The camera is annoying, the controls clumbsy and the music uniteresting. The graphics were ok, but the scenes were too dark and depressing for me. The monsters were unimaginitive and the weapons pretty typical. I got through a few days and realized that not only did I not care, but I was really unhappy with it. I kept playing, thinking something would make it worth the reduced price I paid for it. I haven't played it since. I wish I could give it zero stars.

The game that should have never been

Well, as I was walking around a bestbuy, I saw this game: Rune Viking Warlord. I love Norse Methology so I thought, why not. I went to Blockbuster to rent the game and popped it into my PS2. I could not believe what I had just done. First of all, the graphics are not good. It does have some lighting effects that only a PS2 could handle, maybe, but the characters are terrible, and so is the overall appearence. This game takes forever to load, a lot of PS2 games that I have played have almost no load time, and I can see why. This game took all of the load time. It seems that for every 3 minutes of game play, there is 4 minutes of load time. The big kicker was when I had to use both analogs to turn. The left will make you go forwards and backwards and to the sides, but it is the right analog to enables you to turn. Talk about total lack of gaming technology. All in all, I would never rent this game again, let alone buy it. I will, however, recomend this game to those of you out there with a fetish for beating the most horrible games of all time. For this game is surely one of those.

Avoid at all costs. These guys were just not up to the challenge of making a PS2 game.
