This is one great game, the graphics really arent that great but it is easily overlooked, do keep in mind the age of this game. The overall premise is that you die, odin brings you back to life and you must journey through Hel in order to get back to midgard. The game is completely immerced into the real and dead on Norse Mythos, this game is very different from any other game that i have ever played. to gain health you must drink mead, eat meat and lizards. all the levels are all very dark and very disturbing with everything trying to stop you from skeleton soldiers to demon vikings, this game is overall incredible, if youre into metal, and more importantly bands like Amon Amarth you will love this game!

I had the misfortune of playing this game as well, and might I say I was greatly disappointed. Don't judge games by their covers. Being a pagan myself, I had high hopes for my hero Ragnar, but that R3 camera rotating to see what you were doing sucked SO much I didn't even bother finding out what OTHER aspects of the game blew.
Don't waste your money OR time on this. I'm tempted to do an "angry video game nerd" and try to get through it, but I can't see spending $2 on a used copy that isn't even worth the plastic it is printed on.

First of all this game is overpriced for its value. You always do the same things and there are only a few attacks. There are different weapons but they aren't much different. The only difference is that some weapons don't do much damage, some do. The attacks for each weapon looks exactly the same. This game is a waste of money. DO NOT BUY IT.

There is nothing about this game that I like. The camera is annoying, the controls clumbsy and the music uniteresting. The graphics were ok, but the scenes were too dark and depressing for me. The monsters were unimaginitive and the weapons pretty typical. I got through a few days and realized that not only did I not care, but I was really unhappy with it. I kept playing, thinking something would make it worth the reduced price I paid for it. I haven't played it since. I wish I could give it zero stars.
Fair game, not worth an A+

I guess this game graphic wise is decent due to when it was released but my main problem with it was the load times. Some points were pretty cheesy, like eating lizards to replenish health. The voiceovers weren't that great either but I guess they were good at the time. Another thing I didn't like was when you were in first person mode and you were using a weapon, you couldn't see it. This game is beyond being perfect in anyway but it's worth playing if you rent it or find it at a very cheap price. Don't expect too much from this because you're not going to get it.

I would like to use the word "awesome" to describe this game, but that would barely scratch the surface. Besides the downside of slow loading, i found this game to be intriguing in gameplay and role. If you are reading this report, then you probably already know what Rune is about. But there is also a multiplayer that my friends and I have spent countless hours on. If you're looking for a fun game that will keep you interested, buy Rune for either Ps2 or Computer.

the biggest pro of this game is the concept of norse vikings and all. the scenery is real cool. the "battle" or fighting isnt complicated but not too simple. so thats ok too. the controle [is bad], graphics are ok, and the sound is great. my biggest problem is that its so easy to get lost with no freakin clue what your doing. a few hints but nothing real helpfull. the biggest challenge is to not kill yourself trying dumb sh$t to make it through the level. all and all once you find out where your going, whats going on, and make it through the loading times, its a fun game.

I think what many reviewers here are failing to see is the overall game design and atmosphere. For a start, the graphics are quite beautiful and ground breaking for the time of its release. There are so many differnet locations, from dungeons to lovely outdoor environments. The landscape rendering simply cannot be ignored. One area to note is an ice cavern level where the frozen floors reflect the surroundings. Simply stunning!! Plus, the variety of environments! It seems never ending!! From celtic greenery to lava flows to ice to fantasy villages with fantastic machinery. The depth is incredible and the beauty, quite breathtaking!
The story also is quite deep and invloved which keeps the player interested.
The attack mode is basic but does invlove a lot of dodging which works really well with many of the foes. Also moving the camera view creates different strategic advantages when battling with various creatures.
Rune isn't a classic but it's certainly a beautifully rendered and thoughtful little gem that can suck you in and keep you entertained for many nights. Well worth a look!
