This game is crazy. I thought the theme was good (based on sections of track from #1), but since you had to earn cars, it was too confusing.
Multiplayer:? No outside view, no Porche (Poor-sha, because it's German, for people who think it's poor-sh) based racers. What's up with that?
If you buy a racing game, save this as a last resort. But you won't need to buy it if you buy Gran Turismo 3.
O......K

When i first got this it was hard. Then i played it more and more, I used the slowest car and i beet the game in about 3-4 hours. The game is to short, when you beet it all you have are the time attacks and the races were you try to beet a fake computer guys(time attack).
And how the hell do you get medls!

This is a fantastic racing/driving game. The graphics are boss, although there are a lot of recycled track sections in each "different" track. The commentator is a little annoying after a while - picture a Japanese guy trying to sound like an American DJ - but you gotta love crazy litle guy. (I call him "Johnny USA")
2 complaints: there is a lot of "loading" time between menu selections, etc... AND although it is supposed to support 2 player mode, I was never able to make it happen.

Imagine the Atari 2600. Now imagine revamping one of its racing games with better graphics and...well that's about it. I can't believe anyone would release a game this bad for a console like the PlayStation 2. I love racing games, from Gran Turismo and Need for Speed (PS1) to alternative reacing like SSX. ....
The game control is sloppy, unrealistic, and unreliable. If you smack into the wall at a 45 degree angle, the car continues along the wall at the same angle, hitting it again and again and again until you finally turn the wheel. There's doesn't seem to have been even the slightest effort to recreate any sort of physics controling the car movements. Arrghh! ....
Am I missing something?

The graphics are great. The announcer is irritating!!!! I chose the "easy" mode and made it all the way through 'til the end....is that it??? Is the only other option to "keep going" in this game to try a different car and/or difficulty level? If so, this game falls WAY short for me. I wouldn't buy it without renting it first for at least a few days.
Great Graphics

People that want great looking games should definitely try Ridge Racer V. This game is without a doubt the best-looking launch title for the PS2. Althoug RR games usually can't compete with the Gran Turismo series, RRV for PS2 far surpasses GT2. The game is amazingly realistic, from the background to the dynamics of the vehicles. Gameplay is fast and smooth, and the music is pretty cool too. My only complaint about this title is the announcer. His annoying comments sometimes get in the way of the race. If Namco hadn't included him, this game would have been perfect for its time.

I Think it is a great game but if you want a hard game, just rent or buy it used. It is fun, has great cars, ok graphics and is pretty fun to play. This is a good game!

I love this game. I got it yesterday, and although I still havn't passed the first round, I find it very fun and it helps me get my stress out. The graphics are great, but I don't like the music or the anouncer. It's a great racing game, and you should at least try it out.
like to enjoy the thrill of speed

im not a gt3 fan because i like to just get in and drive...and this is what this game is about. get in and drive. infact this is the only way you will be able to own a car is to win series of races. this game can get a little boring..but also addictive.
Ok....ya
